I’m a 28 year old guy living in a small town in Arizona. I currently work at a community college where my coworkers are a good deal older than me for the most part. I’m sort of a pseudo-IT/Administrator working for the Distance Education department. Its not a bad gig but can be frustrating at times. My age has been somewhat detrimental as the older generation tends to look on me with some of that ‘well isn’t that cute’ mentality. I’d sure love to be taken more seriously!
The primary reason for my being here is of a different nature, however. I began a simi-long distance relationship two years ago with a girl whom I’ve since fallen very much in love with (It ceased to be long distance about a year ago). Unfortunately things have fallen apart due primarily to some issues she has with men and independence. Long story short… she says she loves me but can’t be with me right now because she needs to be free, and doesn’t have any desire for a man in her life. She wants me to wait for her sometimes and other times wants me to be free and happy.
Due to some unfortunate issues with men in her past and the fact that she’s almost constantly been in a relationship with someone, I can somewhat understand how she’s feeling. The problem is that she doesn’t seem to want to face it for me… I feel as if I’m just not quite enough at times.
We still hang out sort of pseudo-dating… and we both acknowledge that we want to ‘end up’ together, but so far not much is changing. I think she has buried the loving and emotional parts of herself because she’s afraid to allow herself to fall again and afraid that men only desire one thing.
I cannot stress enough that I love this girl and intend only the best for her - me. So I’m here because I’m hoping some strategic chemical planning will help her to dig out those buried emotions and heal. Yes - its selfish too; I don’t want to lose her.

First I’ll address the work part. As for the girl man, I’m sorry that sucks. I’ve been through things like that before and it’s never fun. I would just make sure that she knows you’re not going to just allow her to ‘push’ you around. What I mean is you’re not just going to wait forever. Like you want to be with her and only her, but she’s making herself unavailable. I just don’t want this to somehow turn into you being put in a friend zone after a while, cause that would be even worse. But hey keep your head up and while trying to love on her kep your eyes open for other prospects that can actually give you the attention you both want and deserve. It’s always a rough situation.
A314 can help with the trust thing as well. Which COULD help with her. it ups your status and she might see you as even more valuable than she already does. This may make her want to hold onto you more, and make SURE she doesn’t lose you. This isn’t a guarantee as she sounds pretty steadfast in the fact that she wants to be free right now, but I’ve seen this in action.
