This is a true story.
Time:
Wed, Dec 13th
Place:
New building at workplace, main reception which looks like a Shangri-La massive entrance. Tiled shiny floors, wide steps in the middle leading to first floor, reception large desk on the right with 2 lovely ladies I know well manning it, CEO office & secretary on the left with door open but not in vision.
Setup:
Myself, decending the stairs, 20 steps or so to go to down to reception desk. Formal dress, head up, confident walk, head high & professional look. Eye contact with reception ladies while they work and I decend the steps. A colleagues climbing up opposite to me and greets.
Sequence of events:
-
Phone rings in my pocket ..I reach for it, take it to my ear
-
Turn Up The Heat 30ml bottle in same pocket, decides it wants out similar to the phone
-
Pretty bottle in cobalt blue, falls to the steps infront of me, with a thudding sound, then starts rolling down the steps
-
Reception ladies pay attention to noise (20 decible or so, as in hammering on steel), look me straight in the eye (15 meters), then at my feet
-
3 pairs of eyes focus on that pretty bottle, happily bouncing from one step to another
-
With exact same poise, I slowly speed up my decent on steps. Bloody bottle sees that & speeds down faster, never to be caught …
-
Quick images I see in space of 2 seconds:
– Bottle exploding on tiles, I clean the liquid up amongst many people who ask what it is and what that smell
– CEO comes out of office for noise, grabs bottle, hands it back to me but not before reading its label
– Reception lady goes & grabs it, reading it then commenting if that is what I use for cologne -
Bottle hits floor tiles, no shattering .. Bottle rolls & stops at reception desk right at foot of a reception lady. I arrive same time, same poise as usual while I lean to take bottle straight to my pocket, then straighten up with a little grin looking at reception ladies
-
One of them straight out: Lucky that bottle did not break … What was it ?
-
I reply: My magic potion … it goes fast, doesn’t it.
And they crack up laughing, followed by a 7 or so mins of chat on what they like best in seduction. Pretty smart ladies, I’d say.
