many people say to avoid things that have none or whatever is in ammo/tuth/IJ since you’re in high school. I recommend you avoid them unless you have previously had good hits with it. Do you know anything about her or her interests? Asking her about something like that is a good start.
Making a small but uninsulting joke about something going on around you is always a good start.
I made one of my best female friends in High School on the first day in class. She was brand new to the school, very pretty, sitting beside in me “home room”, no idea what her name was when the teacher handed us at least a half dozen forms to fill out. When I handed them to her I made a small joke like “Here you go because you can never have too many forms to fill out”. She just half laughed but we were instant friends.
