Is oudh the most erotic fragrance?

Oudh is usually the name people give agarwood oil. Any time you are talking about oudh it is agarwood oil. Attar on the other hand, is not pure oudh, it is usually oudh mixed in sandalwood oil and can contain other oils when specified. The regions are known by the name of the oudh, such as assam, it is oudh from a region in india and it is characterized by a very “barn-yard” smell. Cambodi oudh is just agarwood from cambodia, most likely pure, but in this case mixed with the musk black. The attar on the other hand I imagine is the musk mixed with an attar of oudh (in sandalwood) with some florals.

Oud is the Arabic word for agarwood. Agar comming from agarbati which the Indiands use for incense. The Indonesians call it Gaharu. I would suggest Agarscents Cambodi Classic if you want to try a very nice typical Arabian prefered Oud. Or try Oriscents new $199 sample pack. It contains very little of each but it is some of his best stuff and believe me you will not be disapointed.

thanks for the info, I couldn’t seem to find any info anywhere. Do you know any sites where I could do more research?

Geez, where does everyone find the money to buy these fragrances for around $100-200 for a 3 ml bottle etc? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, these are oil bottles which are VERY potent, so you need at most one drop. Maybe even a half-drop, if you can manage that. So a 3mL bottle could be considered the same as a 1oz… heck, maybe even a 2.5oz high class fragrance. And since you probably won’t be wearing it every day, it’ll last you quite a while. Denec has had his Musk Ghazelle for about 3 months now and still has some. But yeah, it’s a DANG expensive hobby sometimes…

Hrmm… Looks like I’ll be heading out to the middle east for business in a month or two - Saudi Arabia to be exact

Is any of this stuff cheaper if I buy it down there?

This assumes of course I end up having the time to go look

I buy my stuff straight from the store frons in Saudi Arabia. So yes it will be cheaper if you buy direct from them. But they they still get way expensive like $7000 for the Kalakassi Oud and Thakil Oud from Abdul Samad al Qurashi.

Now at a price like that, what is IN that bottle? Did the perfumer themself travel to each individual country where the ingredients grow, pick them or cut them down themself, then fly back and spend a year making each bottle? I mean, don’t get me wrong, i’m sure it’s worth every penny, but at some point i wonder what makes them this expensive.

They charge it because they can. All of those rich oil tycoons buy with out thought. The Kalakassi is aged 80 years so that is part of it. I have sampled both Thakil and Kalakassi and they are both really good but if you are not like a millionaire or something then I wouldnt sweat over it. They may be best when baught through a group buy.

Is the only way you can buy from Adbul Samad Al Qurashi to actually go to the store in person, or can you buy online? I went to their site but didnt really any prices, or a buy feature.

They have a store in London and they have a site for that as well but you have to find it cause I dont have it. The only thing is the London shop is like twice the price. I myself am working on importing some of their most popular scents. I will definatly sell it for cheaper then their London shop. But for know if you really want their stuff then the London shop is the only way. Arabian Oud also has a store in London but it is the same thing twice sometime 3 times the original price.

Thanks for the help.

I love everything and anything about fragrances, colognes, perfumes, essential oils, fragrance oils, oud, deer musk, civet musk, ambergris, etc :stuck_out_tongue: I am still very new to this subject, but hoping to learn more everyday and increase my stash, and make my own perfumes and colognes in the future as a hobby and see where it goes from there. This thread has been especially helpful in my search, and I have spent several hours on this subject today :o. I haven’t tried most of the things I have mentioned, but I will try them in the future.

I have one last question. Lets say I was to start out getting something for around $50-80 at agarscents or something. Something like that I assume would be heavily concentrated, although I know that the product involved would dictate the circumstance. So my question is, with something that strong, can I dilute it, and if so, how much fragrance per 1 ounce of perfumer’s alcohol for example?

It really depends what you get from Agarscents. Some of his cheaper stuff is strong and some is not. For sake of argument lets say you get something that is strong like the Dehn Black Musk, then you I would suggest 10 drops alcohol to 1 drop Musk. Then you can go lighter from there. Again not all of his stuff for that price is strong even some expensive stuff is not like the Dehn Ambergris White. Even you need any suggestions I can help. Just tell me what you are looking for and if I have tried it I will tell you what I think.

Hmm, are you supposed to mix this with perfumer’s alcohol, or just apply it as an oil? The latter is the impression i had gotten and that you should just go really light on the application if it’s strong. Was i wrong? AKA should i go get some PA? :open_mouth:

It is meant to be worn just striaght but some people like to dilute it because some are almost EO streangth and many times especially with Oud it seems to diffuse different and many times for the better when it is cut with alcohol. But in reality there is no need for it since they are made to be worn as is. Remember though all of them are different in strength.

Thanks for the help man. Reps!..I’ll pm you sometime later today after I get a better idea of what I am looking for. I am looking for something animalistic/sexy in nature, but I will do some more research as to what sounds good and see your opinions on those :stuck_out_tongue:. Have you done business with Ham_Firl from ebay as well?

Abubakr al misky, do you think that the ambergris eau de parfum spray they sell is strong enough that it should be diluted, or is that one already soft enough?

I’m looking buy one of agarscents’ colognes, but I can’t seem to make a decision. So far my choices are their ambergris eau de parfum, al ghareeb arabian cologne, woody arabian fragrance, or their muskdeer black with cambodian oudh.

I want a fragrance that is captivating, but not too strong to not be able to wear it often. I feel that the musks I’ve tried, as well as oudhs, are a bit strong and the scents are formal and serious. They seem to be for a person who gives an aura of maturity and formality I don’t want to give all the time (I’m 21 years old). I feel like I’ll love them when I’m a bit older, but right now I ned something a bit more wearable. This is why I think my two best choices are the ambergris perfume or the woody arabian cologne. Would you have any reccomendations?

I myself sell Ajmal Musk Ghazelle which is the most animalistic Musk I have come across. So if you are ever interested in that please let me know.
