Is there any science behind foods that are supposedly aphrodisiacs?

Yes some of them have science behind them. There are lots of foods and herbs that act as aphrodisiacs. Foods have much more subtle and mild effect then herbs and certain roots though.

Even certain scents other then pheromones have been proven to increase blood flow to the groin as well as increase sexual arousal.

Just google "studies and abstracts aphrodisiacs and you will find a plethora of information.

thanks. I will look into it.

I am not a scientist per say- I could only tell you about my own personal experience.

Oooh…Do tell!:wink:

My Favorite is Lemongrass and coconut milk (Thai Dishes).
Also Nutmeg in white sauces, or other sauces, for instance;

Last night I made an Apple Sauce for pork chops with sweet onions, nutmeg, allspice, and Coriander(Culandro Molido). Finished with fresh parsley and a touch of sweet basil.

Salmon with garlic, lemon, white wine, dill butter is always a winner.

Oysters especially Rockefeller style(garlic/spinich)

I would say from my experience that it is always a combination of these spices and
herbs well,many … dill, green onion, da kine, etc..

It is unequivocally the Apothecary… not the necessarly the ingredients by themselves.

Hope this helps.
