Korean Food

When I first started my journey with fragrances, I did it with the intention of giving my daughter a legacy of memories. I’ve always been interested in how certain smells can evoke memories. So, I started wearing some colognes with intentions of wearing them a lot. That way when she smelled them again, she would think of me. Sounds a bit vain when I write it down. I may have messed up along the way, cause it’s pickles that makes her think of me and not the cologne.

Anyhow, I write this because of my own memories of my mother. Korean food to me is all about my mother. Who, more than a mother, shows you unconditional love? And, for a Korean mother, how more can she show love than by cooking? Now, for anyone who has tried to learn to make Korean food, it can be difficult. My mother will use a pinch of this and a dash of that. No real measurements to speak of and I need concrete measurements. Not only that, every Korean woman has their own memorized recipes!

I found and use this site that has lots of Korean recipes. They don’t always taste like mom’s cooking, but it makes me feel good and I get to pass this on to my own daughter ..

That’s so sweet!

I have wonderful memories of my mom and her food. Food is love. Preparing food for and feeding people is all about love and no one but no one will ever love you as unconditionally as your Mama loves you, that’s for sure! And try as we might to duplicate those recipes, they’re never quite the same. You see, the main ingredient that’s missing, the one that can never be duplicated, is her and the love she put into it.

Cord, I have no doubt that your daughter will have loving memories of you. Although there’s no telling whether or not she’ll associate the particular scents you want her to associate with you, she’ll still have her own triggers that will.

Bella

Bella’s right. Some of my strongest memories from childhood involve food and my mother teaching me to make it. Walking away with flour in my hair and all over the walls because I turned the mixer up to maximum is a favourite.

Keep it a secret, Bella. Word gets around my department, I’ll never hear the end of it. Yep, the ladies get fed sometimes.
