It looks like pheromones has become more and more well known now.
Sweet! Thanks for the heads up, I just put it on.
They weren’t very accurate about pheromones though.
Science of Sex Appeal : Out of Your League? : Video : Discovery Channel
Notice how they hesitate to use the word Pheromones. They know the negative connotations that the word “pheromones” has.
Yea they say “copulance and copulans”
I will say … it covered a lot of territory in a short time …
… I just thought it was very interesting to see a lot of the territory we cover here actually mentioned in one place in a “main line” TV program.
get use to media always screwing things up LOL
I had a discussion about this a few weeks ago with the creator of Scent of Eros and our very own James V. Kohl about a program that was on another channel. This is what happens when media tries to sell something to the mass they will freely edit and take what they want for granted.
Have to always be careful about how mainstream will treat pheromones
I did not see the program but sounds interesting
Pretty much par for the course when it comes to any topic the media grabs ahold of. They’re in the business of selling advertising, not educating.
It makes me wonder how many things that I think I “know” about I don’t really know anything…
That sounds like Zen LOL, sorry been watching too much of that show Life
I was referring to that they basically said that there is only one “pheromone like” substance and it’s not really a pheromone. Naturally, it was androstenone. I was sitting there thinking… wha? I have a shelf of pheromones…
You can rely on these guys to always aim for the lowest common denominator in the audience. Anything vaguely related to science on telly in the UK has lost more and more real content (and accuracy). These days it’s much more common to find them talking about the personal feuds between scientists as a kind of human interest angle, rather then the actual subject of the program.
Actually whenever one of these programs airs whether they are for mones or against them, I get hammered with the intros LOL . They may not have accurate information in these programs but it does inspire people to explore and learn. To get out there and discover for themselves the science behind it. Perhaps that’s why they call it the Discovery Channel LOL
Thanks for the heads up BH, It will take about a week for them to find us after seeing the show so I will be ready ![]()

On the one hand it makes you want to scream “NO NO NO you’ve got it all wrong.” Then on the other hand it’s really cool to be out on the cutting edge feeling all smug and superior. LOL
heh
::feeling smug and superior with renny::
are you sure it will take that long?
blew my mind you got one imediatly !!!

Maybe Jasmin ought to run a Discovery Channel “special” for everyone who comes looking for us because of the show … lol.
Or mention that they will “discover” a gift certificate in their inbox once they do their intro … or “discover” a “gift” in their first order.
You have a million ways to play that one … ![]()
I tried to find a contact form or forum on their website to correct them, but there was nothing I could find. Apparently only one scientist is of any interest in this field, and androstenone “is the only one that comes close” to being a human pheromone.
LOL I know, that was fast. They must of aired Oceans 13 during the week to on some channel cause I got hammered with people looking for the gilroy to.
