Tater is an ENFP. Whodathunkit?
Heyy, welcome to the club. ![]()
So..what’s your ace?
In another thread I posted last night (“What now?”) in women’s forum, I was lamenting my lack of perceived effects of the pheromones I have been trying for a couple of weeks.
I’m just wondering. Maybe others have reacted and I haven’t just haven’t noticed.
Do you think the fact that I’m INTJ (or once I tested INTP), and of the four categories, very strongly IN and farily strongly T, makes me less attuned to the subtleties of other people’s body language and behavioral changes? Any other INTx’s care to weigh in?
WOW! So many great responses that I need to go through and take notes.
So I am definitely creating the Spreadsheet and tracking everyone!!!
This will also be beneficial to my own research that I work with.
One thing I will say about the E/I function is think of it this way…How do you re-charge your energy? If someone is an introvert it does not necessarily mean they are so quiet and shy and un-talkative, it means they re-cherge by having more alone time with their thoughts.
Now for E’s the opposite is true…the more alone time we have can make us feel a little drained. We seek to initiate experiences in the outer world. But, that being said, sometimes E’s have shy quiet times too.
Sometimes being shy comes *more *from our (personality) - the environment and circumstances we have been brought up with.
Pheromones - there was a very good suggestion from someone - kudos to that person!!! - let’s keep track off your top three pheromones that you are attracted too.
Awesome job everyone…I sure appreciate this and find it very fascinating.
Schell - you REALLY should read the journals here. Especially of the ppl who’ve responded here with their MB ID. The journals are sometimes more in depth and telling of our experiements & ummm… stuff. ![]()
Tigger,
I have started reading some of them…they are certainly fun and interesting to peruse.
Interesting, I am INFJ
Work designing building, testing and doing Technical support for a computer company.
I typically recharge by taking a spirited drive in the country… ![]()
I am attracted to female pheromones ![]()
Hey no wonder I like you…somehow I must have known you were an “NF” like myself.
In the right situation I can do just about anything.
I took finals for people for classes I never took an hour of, (one of the joys of a photographic memory) I always managed a B for general education classes. A’s in most of the scientific realm of stuff.
my boss keeps me around because I can do anything and build just about anything. it bothers him that my boxes aren’t square.
I am already quite familiar with this and similar testing from classes taken. They can be quite useful tools just so long as no one gets caught up in a " label". I even know what I fall under. Was required for me to essay on my interpretation regarding my own findings/opinions.I will love seeing this charted in the future.Definite possibilities with pheros.

Healers present a calm and serene face to the world, and can seem shy, even distant around others. But inside they’re anything but serene, having a capacity for personal caring rarely found in the other types. Healers care deeply about the inner life of a few special persons, or about a favorite cause in the world at large. And their great passion is to heal the conflicts that trouble individuals, or that divide groups, and thus to bring wholeness, or health, to themselves, their loved ones, and their community.
Healers have a profound sense of idealism that comes from a strong personal sense of right and wrong. They conceive of the world as an ethical, honorable place, full of wondrous possibilities and potential goods. In fact, to understand Healers, we must understand that their deep commitment to the positive and the good is almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. Set off from the rest of humanity by their privacy and scarcity (around one percent of the population), Healers can feel even more isolated in the purity of their idealism.
Also, Healers might well feel a sense of separation because of their often misunderstood childhood. Healers live a fantasy-filled childhood-they are the prince or princess of fairy tales-an attitude which, sadly, is frowned upon, or even punished, by many parents. With parents who want them to get their head out of the clouds, Healers begin to believe they are bad to be so fanciful, so dreamy, and can come to see themselves as ugly ducklings. In truth, they are quite OK just as they are, only different from most others-swans reared in a family of ducks.
At work, Healers are adaptable, welcome new ideas and new information, are patient with complicated situations, but impatient with routine details. Healers are keenly aware of people and their feelings, and relate well with most others. Because of their deep-seated reserve, however, they can work quite happily alone. When making decisions, Healers follow their heart not their head, which means they can make errors of fact, but seldom of feeling. They have a natural interest in scholarly activities and demonstrate, like the other Idealists, a remarkable facility with language. They have a gift for interpreting stories, as well as for creating them, and thus often write in lyric, poetic fashion. Frequently they hear a call to go forth into the world and help others, a call they seem ready to answer, even if they must sacrifice their own comfort.
Princess Diana, Richard Gere, Audrey Hephurn, Albert Schweiter, George Orwell, Karen Armstrong, Aldous Huxley, Mia Farrow", and Isabel Meyers are examples of a Healer Idealists.
Heya Xev, play to your strengths, trust yourself, and get out of your comfort zone. NT’s, I think, can be so comfortable with ourselves that we really hate to let the world in sometimes (it might contradict what we already “know”). I hope this makes sense. Don’t worry about picking up the subtleties…all those things will be in the big picture when you take some time by yourself to recharge…the biggest challenge I have is making myself interact with the world and not doing it on my terms. When I take the chances and do the uncomfortable things…that’s when the hits happen.
PS. reps to mystrys about not taking the “label” too seriously…it’s just a tool.
Mystrys,
Hi there. We certainly are all unique individuals. I have been labeled in the past by people. It seems labeling people can lead to prejudices of all kinds. It is a shame that we sometimes attach labels to folks - even without realizing it. You are correct that this is a useful tool and not to get stuck with labels. Thanks for the nice reminder.
Also, I think, looking at this stuff, that the popular-usage of the word “introverted” is quite a bit different to how it is used in the MBTI. Commonly one does think of “introverted” as being shy or something - I really am not shy at all. Well, not in everyday life, maybe in approaches and overtures to women:o, but even there I’m not completely pathological. But I will say that a lot of the time I am perfectly happy with my own thoughts and internal dialogue, for sure.
Well, I did another test I happened across on the web, and got… INTP again. OK, that’s a 2 out of 3 vote, lol.
You are exactly right…the terms “introverted” and “extroverted”
Are applied incorrectly by the masses. Extroverts like myself can be quite sometimes, and introverts can become chatty.
Being shy can be a matter of environment or environmental upbringing.
People need to remember the terms apply to how you recharge yourselves…where you draw your energy from.
Nice posts reps
I think of myself as an extroverted introvert.
I used to be so shy… now with the help of pheros EVERYTHING changed.
I’m gradually being much much more confident.
Sometimes I think I’m overly confident, so much so that I’m surprised myself on how my body reacted without me making a conscious decision.
Introversion and extroversion have nothing to do with shyness. There are shy extroverts and outgoing introverts. It just has to do with where they get their energy. Extroverts get energized when they are very social while introverts tend to get drained and need time to recharge. However introverts are not at the mercy of their external environment. Generally extroverts like a lot of casual friends while introverts like just a few very close friends. Extroverts and introverts actually have different brains. I remember looking a graph that showed extroverts have a short pathway in their brain while introverts have a long pathway.
Extroverts vs. Introverts
sociability…territoriality
interaction…concentration
external…internal
breadth…depth
extensive…intensive
multiple relationships …limited relationships
Energy expenditure…energy conversation
external events…internal reactions
Gregarious…Reflective
Speak, then think…Think, then speak
I just took it and mine is ENFJ
and I prefer social pheros like Instant Shine and ones that are perky, girly and happy
Great post Lone Wolf, that’s one reason managers or employers like to have some insight into the M-B types they are teaming. Many times if folks have opposite but highly compatible ways of looking at and solving problems, they make wonderful teams.
I guess then that the introverted types might have to be particularly careful wearing, for example, A314 on its own. We could be particularly prone to projecting an image of “leave me alone with my thoughts: I am an important person with deep things to think about”. Which might be alright in some situations, but if the introvert wants to get some social action too, it is all the more important to wear some Instant Shine or Instant Openness too.
(I wore just the one drop of A314 and 2x IO out today, just coffee-shop and street meandering. Sunny weather in UK shock horror!!!11 ![]()
Seems quite a nice mix - I think I’ve got used to the IO and don’t get spaced out now. But that little bit of A314 seems to add a basenote of gravitas.)
Thanks for posting that. I’m definitely an introvert, though pretty close to center. My closes friends would say I’m an introvert, but everyone else would say I’m extravert. I guess that is because I have the bodylanguage of an extravert. I make lots of eyecontact and move very freely when I dance but make very few unnecessary movements, I also wear bright colours a lot and have a very expressive face.
I was very very shy and socailly awkward as a child and teenager, but I have learned social skills very well and no longer feel any kind of discomfort in social situations at all. I stopped worrying about what other people would think and what I should do and started thinking about how they might feel and simply enjoying myself and sharing my pleasure. Because I know what it is like to be the person who feels alone at a party, I’ll be the first to talk to the girl who is too shy to talk to other people. That said, I don’t usually approach others, it is hard for me and my body language draws them in more easily. I also really like to analyse social interaction and test my theories out there. I need time on my own to work out my theories and assimilate what I have learned and also to think about my feelings for other people and what they mean to me.
I read some more descriptions and am pretty sure I’m an INFP, but may have started my life as an INTP. In any case, I am a feeler who can show her feelings and explain them in a very rational way to a thinker. My close friends are mostly thinkers.
Both IS/A and IS/B work for me.
