Meyers-Briggs 'typing' & pheromones

Awww, shucks. I’m like a drunken driver, weaving all over the road. Personality apparently changes from minute to minute. Problem is, I can frequently agree with both extremes on the test and I will click either depending on what I’m thinking at the time and my mood.

This is hardly scientific, and reminds me of the pithy, pop psychology tests I often see teenagers filling out in tabloid newspapers and then treating the results as gospel, LOL!

LOL, I’m a strongly logical, analytical, deep thinker, rarely influenced by emotional appeals and given to looking at the bigger picture. Live long and prosper, Jim.

The next, I’m a counselor, caring, protective, willing to sacrifice time and energy to help others and very, very patient. Fiercely loyal to those I consider friends and family.

Strong rebel, anarchist streak. Resistant to authority, blazes your own path and doesn’t always follow orders if you think your way is better. Some consider that taking the initiative and a good thing. Others say, “Bad. Very bad.”

Hmmm… yeah, stick it to the man! That’s how I feel right now!

Musk

Lone WOlf,

Thank you for adding that list…that will be a help for peoples understanding.

Muskcloud -

Maybe you are a Rebel TYPE unto yourself unique in the universe flow of time, past, present, and future. LOL

You may also be an ‘NT’ I am curious…

Thanks for posting

Hey, I’m an INFP too!

It is also important to remember that everyone uses both sides occasionally, it all has to do with your preference for one or the other. For example someone could be in the middle, in between introvert or extrovert but will still show a slight preference for one of them. Some are stronger extroverts than others for example.

Here are some key words too that describe the difference with Thinkers and Feelers:

Thinkers vs. Feelers

Objective…Subjective
Firm-minded…Tenderhearted
Laws…Circumstances
Firmness…Persuasion
Just…Humane
Clarity…Harmony
Analytical…Appreciative
Policy…Social Values
Detached…Involved

Cool that you are also an INFP!

Thanks for the description. I think I am almost 50/50 on the thinking/feeling spectrum, though when I read ideal jobs and circumstances, I think those for INFP suit me more, I’m happier when I can have a feelers perspective a bit more often than the thinker’s perspective.

Are you close to center on your traits, or more extreme?

MuskCloud is first person here that I can really identify with. I am supposedly an ENFP “champion”. I am NOT extroverted. I very much prefer to be alone (with my mushrooms) under the cover of darkness. What I am is uninhibited.

I don’t feel the need to be cool. On my good days, if i was any cooler it would be obnoxious.

I don’t feel the need to ‘command’ respect. The people who really know me honestly respect me. The rest will just have to figure it out for themselves on both counts.

I had a manager who used this meyrs test to make me a deparment supervisor. Bad Idea. My people loved me. (and I them) The VP and CEO could have been called Fear and Loathing. You can guess where that went.

I don’t know about the pheros yet but I’ll letcha know.

All I really want is to find an uninhibited foodie chick to cook with who wants to imbibe in all the sensual pleasures. About once a month. Well OK, maybe twice a month.

I’ll get back to ya later with more details.

Gotta love ya, Ooo

Do you think you are more introspective or is your focus more on events happening in the outer world around you?

You sound fairly introspective from your post.

So you are soooo cool naturally…is that with using P74 or without it?

I am really looking forward to hearing about your details…:open_mouth:

Did you take the LONG version of the test or the shortie 70 question test? The long version gives much clearer results and is administered (usually or hopefully or should be) by someone who knows what they are doing.

Have all of you noticed that there are more “NF” folks who are interested in this? I will have to go back and look but I do not think I saw any “SJ”'s - Have any of you? This fits with out NF profile…

Basically external oriented. Not so much events as the ideas and processes the world operates with and the way it is all referenced by/to other times and places. I am open to the possibility that all kinds of eclectic ideas may be true but i try to use some discernment in the understandings that i choose to use as my compass. I am even willing to go so far as accept the possible validity of a bizzare reptilian instinctual behavior that postulates hormonal respose to a stimulus as ephemeral as an aroma.

PS What’s P74 got to do with it?

I have heard P74 described as making guys - INSTANT COOL GUYS, everyone wants to be your friend. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m INFJ. Was INTJ growing up, but in the past five years, my F took over! I do well with a bit of TAL. I feel the most centered with mx274 and a bit of IS/A.

Look forward to your spreadsheet. Seems like we are at least 80% N_P. Almost all N.

So what pheromones would you recommend for us, good doctor?

MoLater, OoohYahhh

I thought that was interesting…that we are almost all N.

I wonder if this forum is made up of mostly N’s. It is hard for me to imagine too many SJ’s open to experience something that is still theoretical in humans.

Working on putting my info together.

This thread will better serve the forum under Theory, therefore I have moved it

probably late to the party, as usual but apparently im an ESFJ (11-100-12-44) so i guess i sense a lot?

might read it more in depth but seems like it fits

im a TAL girl, and i do NOT get along with IS-B or TAH… i only had a little success with MX135 but got some great results with MX274. kind of strange that i do really well with EST though..

So are J’s more dominant people who prefer to use TAL over TAH?

hm.. also the fact that im extraverted also maybe..

im not sure. im a TAL girl with a TAH heart, if that makes sense  i get along fabulously with EST but both times ive wore TAH, ive gotten into fights with my TG’s.

ENTP (STRONG… only T is less than 50%) - Same result I get everytime I take the test… I’m an engineer… almost every single outgoing engineer I know is an ENTP.

Ain’t no other ENTP’s here… lonely :frowning: - The description below is actually pretty close as well (most ENTP descriptions are)

A314 and Shine work awesome for me… AMMO not so much, MX203 seems ok and P101 is still up in the air. I found Instant Openness to help conversations go more smoothly, but nothing spectactular.

Inventors begin building gadgets and mechanisms as young children, and never really stop, though as adults they will turn their inventiveness to many kinds of organizations, social as well as mechanical. There aren’t many Inventors, say about two percent of the population, but they have great impact on our everyday lives. With their innovative, entrepreneurial spirit, Inventors are always on the lookout for a better way, always eyeing new projects, new enterprises, new processes. Always aiming to “build a better mousetrap.”
Inventors are keenly pragmatic, and often become expert at devising the most effective means to accomplish their ends. They are the most reluctant of all the types to do things in a particular manner just because that’s the way they have been done. As a result, they often bring fresh, new approaches to their work and play. They are intensely curious and continuously probe for possibilities, especially when trying to solve complex problems. Inventors are filled with ideas, but value ideas only when they make possible actions and objects. Thus they see product design not as an end in itself, but as a means to an end, as a way of devising the prototype that works and that can be brought to market. Inventors are confident in their pragmatism, counting on their ability to find effective ways and means when they need them, rather than making a detailed blueprint in advance. A rough idea is all they need to feel ready to proceed into action.

Inventors often have a lively circle of friends and are interested in their ideas and activities. They are usually easy-going, seldom critical or carping. Inventors can be engaging conversationalists, able to express their own complicated ideas and to follow the ideas of others. When arguing issues, however, they may deliberately employ debate skills to the serious disadvantage of their opponents. Inventors are usually non-conformists in the workplace, and can succeed in many areas as long as the job does not involve too much humdrum routine. They make good leaders on pilot projects that test their ingenuity. And they are skilled at engineering human relationships and human systems, quickly grasping the politics of institutions and always wanting to understand the people within the system rather than tell them what to do. No matter what their occupation, however, Inventors display an extraordinary talent for rising to the demands of even the most impossible situations. “It can’t be done” is a challenge to an Inventor and elicits a reaction of “I can do it.”
Walt Disney, Benjamin Franklin, Ray Kurtzweil, Buckminster Fuller, Richard Feynman, Thomas Edison, Camille Paglia, and Nicola Tesla are examples of an Inventor Rationals.

Remmy,

That is interesting that you are and SJ…you might be the first to reply to this thread. Most of us are N’s or NF’s

Here are some of the differences between P’s and J’s

J
Resolved, decided fixed, control, closure, planned, structured, definite, scheduled, deadline

P
Pending, wait and see, flexible, adapt, openness, open-ended, flow, tentative, spontaneous, what deadline?

A persons strength is not involved in the J/P difference, they have different preferences that they are more comfortable with…
As a person gets older you can find they feel more comfortable exercising some of the other sides preferences. Maybe that comes with experience in life.

Bumpity Bumps Bumpers for president!

Any results?

I’m 100% solid on each preference. I am glad I have these traits all though I wish I paid more attention to details as a sensor does, I used like to think of myself as someone who can notice little details no one else can.

It is also important to understand that there are feeling types that introvert feelings and extrovert thinking (and vice versa) even though its not their preference.

TPs and FJs extrovert feeling (so a thinking type can at first glance appear to be a feeler when they really are not) and FPs and TJs introvert feeling (the feelers can be hard to distinguish because the hide their feelings).

Another interesting personality test that I just learned about a couple days ago is the enneagram. I found it very fascinating and extremely accurate. The book, “Personality Types: Using the enneagram for self-discovery” was the best personality book I have ever read. It was like the contents from my head was spilling onto the pages when I read the description of me. I am an individualist by the way

I have been out of town researching the mating practices of the giant polouse worm…so I am a little behind on this…I will get on it as soon as I can.
