Mild depression when Instant Shine wears off

has anyone else noticed this? is this part of the attraction of Instant Shine? does it uplift, but when you walk away you feel a let-down? do people approach you to get a “fix”? are they cheerful to keep you around? do they become less affected over time because the “high” is no longer satisfying?

No, nothing of the sort…

Is the depression there before you apply the instant shine? It might not be the shine causing the depression if it were you returning to your original mental state.

First I’ve heard of post shine depression. I know if people wear it enough they become immune to the effect and need a higher concentration for it to effect them. It makes yourself and others feel happy as hell. You can add a little sunshine and brighten up a person’s day.

If the same people are exposed to it enough they could associate it with your presence.

Pharoah, just trying to figure out how this stuff works, and why. the reaction pattern is very noticeable.

good news is im very sure theres a real reaction going on here, and i have theories about who responds when and how much. i think one of the keys to pheremone response is not race, but something right under our noses.

The key is not under your nose its in your nose. Its called a VNO and there is still alot of debate whether humans have them. But all other mammals do so its highly likely we do also. Or perhaps we have evolved more and can process mones without a VNO. Who knows ? Alot of testing still needs to be done.

I dont get a down feeling after Shine wears off but I do recall one of the new girls reporting on the same effect. It was in the womens section a few days ago. I think Pheraoh may be correct and its just bringing you back to your normal state which didnt seem as bad until you experienced the euphoric effects of Shine. I havnt noticed any crashing effects from people exposed to it then again I wasnt looking for it either so I will keep my eye out for it.

Tisha,

i know about the VNO, quite well. i mean theres a good predictor of how someone will respond to pheremones. race may be incidental.

or to just put it out there, it may be dietary customs rather than race or upbringing. perceptions of fragrance tend to follow diet. ovulatory and growth cycles also affect fragrance perceptions. older women trend toward heavy, fog-like scents, for example. i theorize that response to individual pheremones will map tightly to response (or lack of response) to certain fragrances. taste and smell are closely tied.

for example, from studying the forums here, i would guess that blander diets will both favor vanilla-based scents and respond more intensely to -none. spicier diets will respond more positively to -none. women who heavily favor musky elements of seafood will respond positively to beta-nol and EST, while vegetarians might skew toward alpha-nol and, i suspect, away from EST.

most likely im full of it, but i think a real study of who responds and how would be very interesting.

I recall there were other posts relating some pheromone molecules with the post-usage depression feeling. Look for posts by Michael. Also you can search for neurotransmitter precursor preloading.

Drinking lots of water and having good nutrition in general helps prevent any bad effects too while still giving you all the other positives.

It would be interesting to study that therory.

I am not sure if there is merit in it but it is possible.
Maybe you could run a poll in the forum to explore it more fully.

Tish

Tisha,

not sure a poll has the quality of information id like to collect, but very good idea.

forgot to mention that if someone is not as responsive to a pheremone, but your carrier fragrance is something that person favors, they should breathe in more pheremone, which might allow you to create universal effects.

if androtics were to post standard diffusion times for all their molecules, a skilled mixer could put together a timed release and audience-targeted mixture. you could program the effect in very interesting ways.

i would LOVE to address this.

first time i used shine, i used it with a friend of mine.
we liked it so much, we wore 4 sprays each and went out.
had a GREAT time, people were smiley and cheerful and it couldnt have gone better.

next day i was severely depressed.

2 days later i told my friend about it, he said “i cant believe you said that, i was so down the other day but i didnt know what it was. i wanted to leave work.”

alot of people i have asked about this have in fact reported depression afterwards. that sucks bigtime.
on a lighter note, that effect DOES go away and you can wear it without that reaction afterwards… but remember when wearing in high amounts-
you dont know if those you wear it around are the non-affected or affected.

i wear it in normal doses so that i am not overwhelming to people sniffing it for the first time.

Hmm, you guys are lucky. I have a bottle of Shine and can’t feel a thing postive or negative. I’ve used from 2 to 10 sprays and didn’t notice any mood changes whatsoever. I’ve been using 2 or 3 sprays regularly as I thought it seems to impart a little zappy edge to my mixes. Of course I wear mones for other people anyway.

The only thing guaranteed to bring on serve depression for me is to eat Costco beef. Happens everytime. I assume an additive-preservative–doesn’t agree with me as fresh organic beef is usually fine.

Wow really Costco beef does that to you. I never get it there but I have thought about it. Good to know.

I’d like to make a fine distinction on Shine-off.

If I’m able to wear Shine and just relax into it and let others flow with my enjoyment, I don’t get a Shine-off no matter how much I wear.

But if I feel the need to be “on” and to support the good feelings and celebrations of everyone around me … if I allow myself to feel as if wearing the Shine puts an obligation on me to “act up to the rockstar role” … that’s emotionally tiring.

And if I’m physically “on” – dancing my ass off, quaffing cocktails, etc., staying up/out late and demanding a lot of my body – then that’s physically tiring.

And then, when the Shine effect drops off, I’m ~no longer motivated~ to “keep up the Shine”: and the full effect of the emotional and physical demands I’ve put on myself hits me.

Perhaps there’s also a depletion of some neurotransmitter to “pay” for the Shine uplift … perhaps it’s only aggravated when I also put heavy emotional and physical stress on myself.

Repeat: when I relax into the Shine, and kick back, and let it flow, I don’t experience any Shine-off at all.

I have not experienced depression but the first few uses I had a strong desire to take a nap after a few hours, which I did.

That effect went away after a while.

Yeah, I have noticed that I get down in the dumps after a while after it’s done.

all of my issues are neurotransmitter related.

i dont want others to think what happens for one happens for all, but just to be aware of what could happen wearing varying strengths.

too much fun not to wear at all, but I have learned my lesson going crazy with it… what makes me feel fab makes others want to nap.

fooey. :o

I’m getting the sense that this post-Shine depression tends to occur in women more than men. Is that fair to say from the responses?

That would make some sense, although men would tend to be less inclined to reveal sadness as an afteraffect.
