Thanks - I’ve just had another couple of hours drug induced knockout, so I’m feeling pretty reasonable and my movement has done pretty well today- I can even hold a small coffee cup for a short time and type a little with both hands so-long as my forearm is supported.
But yes - the Trammies/Codeine mix is only for short term use. After my foot surgery, I lasted about ten days on it before my system went into total and unpleasant rebellion but if it gets me through the first few post-op days, that’s fine.
Its still bloody sore but some movement and strength in my arm has come back, so I think I’ll venture out of the house for a while tomorrow - also a trial run before my first post-op physio session on Friday morning.
Although I am going to be backing-off the trammies from today. Last time I lasted around ten days on the combo with codeine before the sweats/shakes kicked-in and I had to stop them altogether. I don’t want those again!
Although I did have one with a good-solid fry-up yesterday morning after my physio. I needed it! Trying to eat it with just a fork and not end-up looking like I’d been in a food-fight was a bit of a challenge.
A314/P96 (2 drops/25mcg) and one spray 2x TUTH was interesting around a young physiotherapist - some rather unprofessional body language, humour, flushing and flirting going-on!
Got my official sign-off as well. No work till the end of January!
A bit of a setback over the weekend - I ended-up back in hospital on Saturday night.
Not my shoulder but presumably because my immune system is still a bit stressed from the operation, a small, deep cyst that I’ve had for years and normally never gives much bother suddenly flared over about 18hours into an exceptionally painful large abscess.
So I spent several hours being poked and prodded whilst the medics dithered about operating.
Eventually they decided not to and sent me home with a big box of strong “last resort” antibiotics and instructions to call them back if things get much worse.
So I’m back on the codeine/trammies combination and that’s just keeping the pain in check.
Also had work-on. More or less begging me to come back the moment I’m cleared as ok for light duties.
And fallout has been burning-up my phone since I didn’t get in touch with her on Friday night. Told her about the cyst late Sunday - There is no reception in that part of the hospital!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to see a large amount of pus!
That’s the abscess drained by itself, whilst I dozed, full of painkillers in the only comfortable position open to me. It also tracked away from the operation portals and without surgery, which is very good news indeed - Hopefully the ABs will do their job more quickly now and I can get-on with getting better!
And of course fallout - Who took time out of work yesterday to take me to the doc and get some shopping-in.
I still have one more operation scheduled - but not till I’m over this one. They need to do the same to my other shoulder but from the x-rays, there appears to be no calcified accretions on the shoulder joint itself, so it should be substantially less traumatic.
Although saying that, they missed the damage to my collar bone altogether, until they got inside me and I wouldn’t be surprised if its the same on the other side - but despite that, its still less to worry about then the original diagnosis.
