MX297 vs. MX390: Battle of the Scents!

I happily ordered a to-go of both MX297 and MX390 when they were both revived from the graveyard of MXs, as I never had the opportunity to try them. Sadly, I started off by wasting a bit of my MX297, as I loved the Akuto scent and just wanted to wear it, but I still have enough to do some decent testing. Perhaps when I am done, there will be another restock and I will be able to continue.

Anyway, as we know, the only explicit difference between MX297 and MX390 is the scents. MX297 is Akuto, and MX390 is FF21. However, there has been a divide as to the effects and effectiveness of each, so I will do my part to shed light on the supposed discrepancies and get to the bottom of this mystery, by comparing the two side by side in various settings. Let the battle of the scents begin!

MX390 and Androstenone

No, this isn’t a pure test, and I apologize, but I had been considering this combination and wanted to give it a shot before getting wrapped up in other tests and forgetting about it.

Application:
3 sprays MX390 (one to wrists, one to neck, one split between wrists and neck)
2 sprays MX388 (5mcg androstenone) (one to wrists, one to neck)

I applied right before heading to class and threw on a long-sleeved hooded jacket. I met a girl (Chinese, from China) from my morning class (which I missed today) and she stopped and told me what I had missed and invited me to work on the take-home section of the final with her this weekend. She was in a very good mood and quite talkative. Eventually, she remembered that I had been heading to class and apologized and said she would text me.

When I got to class, almost no one was there, since today is the last day of classes. I saw an open seat next to this very pretty brunette (curvy body, fair skin with light freckles, large brown eyes). The chair was pulled close to her, which gave me an interesting opportunity. I sat down and moved the chair away from her slightly, but not all the way to its normal position. I feel this gave the illusion of me removing myself from her personal space without actually doing so. I had moved away, but was still much closer than I normally would be.

By this point, I had removed the jacket, fully releasing my phero cloud. I then simply paid attention to the teacher and her. She didn’t give much attention to the teacher, opting instead to look at her phone while taking a few notes. However, as time passed, she became more and more restless, bouncing her leg up and down rapidly, crossing and recrossing her legs, grabbing a handful of her long, brown hair and lightly twisting it. Eventually, she had her legs crossed towards me and was bouncing the upper leg up and down so exaggeratedly that it almost seemed she had to be doing it on purpose. At this point, she actually physically restrained her leg with her hands, placing a hand between her crossed legs, near the knee.

After that, I started writing a few notes and working on an old assignment, and I noticed she was just watching me write. I turned and laughed and said I was a bit behind and she smiled and laughed as well, but after that I think she avoided looking at me, as I didn’t catch her again. Now, this was the last day of class, so some of her excess energy might have simply been from a desire to be done, but I feel it was too pronounced for that to be the entire cause, as I’ve never seen her act like this before. Also, the fact that I caught her watching me so closely when, as far as I can remember, I’ve never interacted with her, seemed to indicate significant interest.

After class, a guy a couple years above me started talking to me about the grades for that class. The same guy talked to me yesterday at the student union at lunch when I was wearing MX390. Before then, I don’t think he had ever spoken to me. I seem to get more blatant hits from MX390 than from MX297, which is a bit disappointing, as I like Akuto more than FF21. Yesterday in another class, a girl suddenly turned to me in the middle of class and said I smelled good and asked what I was wearing. I told her it was from a set of samples I was trying out and I couldn’t remember the name. She said it smelled really good. I believe someone else has also complimented me on the FF21 smell.

I love the MX297 / 390 formula and its effects…my only issue is the 390 scent…IMO it is just so strong. I reapplied one night outside in the cold down at Fremont street. I was trying to be discrete, was with my girl and hit one spray. Next thing I know I almost choked out the crowd around me it was that strong.. :frowning:

I know what you mean about the scent. Even when I think it has faded a bit, I keep getting whiffs of whatever that sharp, soapy note is. However, I haven’t gotten any complaints from anyway. Only compliments and good reactions so far. Tonight, I wore it to a piano recital I played at while I was sitting backstage with the other students. I engaged this pretty blonde girl I had briefly spoken to before outside our teacher’s office. In general, she has seemed fairly reserved and until tonight I almost felt she might be a bit of a bitch or something, but she turned out to be really cool. We talked most of the time we were waiting to go out and perform. She made little origami boxes and talked about how she used to play jazz and could whistle really well. It was a really fun conversation. I think a combination of the MX297 and my social skills warmed her up a bit, and I know I was looking sharp in my concert clothes. (I was worried at first because I went with a brown theme (light brown-blazer, dark brown pants, tie with gold, yellow, and hints of blue) while everyone else was wearing more traditional black suits, but I actually got more compliments than anyone else on my dress.)

I probably won’t see the girl again for a while, as the semester is almost over, but I feel there’s now a much higher level of comfort that would allow me to approach her in more situations, and she seems very much my type. I wonder if the residual -none from earlier had any effect?

Really? I personally love it! If I can get by my family I know it is safe lol. Akuto has gotten old for me since all my P’s are akuto and my IG. I find it weaker than AMMO BUT I find better pick up with 390 over 279 atm… Idk to me the 390 smells like a musky version of FF22. But this is just Tea :stuck_out_tongue: I find it to be a stellar MX as well! great post/notes!!!

You really think FF21 is that strong? Akuto is pretty in your face too from my testing. Freemont is pretty crowded too but how close were you to every other person?

I’m just really curious cause I’ve gotten nothing but good compliments from FF21

I definitely feel FF21 is stronger than Akuto. To me, Akuto is a softer, spicier scent that is always gently present. FF21 is much sharper and soapier and seems to come and go, fading away and then suddenly punching me in the nose. Something about one of the notes in FF21 practically singes my sinuses. I like both of them and can wear both, but prefer Akuto.

I would agree with the singing your sinuses part. It does mine as well.

MX390, Androstenone, and P83

Application:
3 sprays MX390 (one to wrists, one to neck, one split between wrists and neck)

2 sprays P83 at 12.5mcg/spray = 25mcg (one to wrists, on to neck)

Results:
I applied right before heading to a Christmas party some of my friends had planned. It was supposed to be a “fancy” party where everyone would dress up, but the guy whose house we were going to use forgot to tell us until earlier that day that he had a final in the morning and we couldn’t use his house. Due to the change of location and a text message from one of my friends, I headed to the party unfancy. It turns out that people had actually dressed up, so I decided I was going to head back and change. On the way, I met the girl who sat next to me in my morning lecture and on whom I tested the UF mixes and P77 once. She looked exhausted, but smiled when she saw me and walked up to give me a hug. I expected it to be quick (as I’ve stated before, she’s not a very touchy person) but it actually lingered significantly longer than I expected. When she pulled away, she mentioned that I smelled good. She talked in a fairly quiet, subdued tone while we were talking and finally went on her way. I then headed to my dorm and put on dark grey pants, a light grey jacket, a white button up, and a muted blue and yellow tie. Unfortunately, I had no black dress shoes, and so wore brown ones instead. Ultimately, it didn’t matter. By the time I got there, everyone was hammered.

When I got back to the party, everyone was standing outside (for reasons I never discovered.) When I walked up, literally almost everyone there started staring. I immediately got several compliments, even from a couple of people who don’t particularly like me. One girl, who I’ve known for a while but who has never really shown any interest in me, even while drunk, demanded that we take a picture together and pulled me quite close while it was being taken. At one point, she also jokingly wrapped her leg around me and pulled me close, pressing her breasts against me. I went into the apartment and sat on a bed and started talking to a few people. One of my drunk friends who was laying on the bed cuddled against me almost the entire time. Almost everyone was very respectful, but I think the -none and P83 changed the dynamic a bit, particularly from the girls.

Which product have you got your most obvious hits off of?

I have been using MX390 along with Ammo here recently as I am out of 297.
My main target really likes FF21 and this mix I know is doing a number on her senses, so much so that I will be ordering more.

For some reason it seems as in the MX390 it is just stronger than with ammo, however the whole less is more rule has come into play as my supply is diminishing so I’ve been just using 1 spray of each it seems to be working out fine.

I am wondering if it might have been just the 1 bottle as I have or had 3 of 390. If maybe the FF21 mix ratio have been off, because my current bottle I am using is just not as strong. I in fact like the way I smell, and I don’t seem to be gasping for breath after using it…LOL

I was wondering if the scent is still present would the pheros be too?? for example when i wake up the next day after wearing a product sometimes I get a whiff of the scent/s and this could be upwards of 18hrs after application. Good reports vesp have you been doing any solo MX388 or mx389 testing recently? I’ll check your posts

It’s possible that some of the pheros would still be present, but by that point, they have probably diminished to the point that they are much less effective than the day of application. The ratio of dispersion rates of the different molecules are probably also out of whack by this point. For example, sticky molecules like androstenone might still be diffusing at about the same steady rate, but quick-diffusing molecules like TAA are long gone, so the overall effect isn’t just diminished, it’s different.

I’ve been taking a little break from testing so I can stay home and read. I also ran out of MX388 and MX389, but I think I will order another set and test them some more. You’ll know when I get back in the game. :wink:
