got mx315 as a free gift. i had a busy day today so i decided to give it a good round of testing. after the day was done i can safely say that this might be a rare tester. the smell doesn’t work for me in a few ways. mainly, it’s not congruent with my persona. i’m much better suited for game or akuto, and to a lesser degree, neroli. this mx has a musky, woody, almost spicy bite to it. you can probably tell i don’t delve much into these types of scents so that’s the best i can describe it, but others with experience should be able to clarify. the scent also makes me a bit nauseous. i ended the day at 3 sprays and after that third spray, i felt a bit lightheaded. if this is one of those mx’s where i need 6-7 sprays to see results, i think i’m gonna pass out.
nonetheless, i know testing isn’t just for me; it’s for the greater good of our pherotalk community. i have some ptives to play with in the short term future and after i’m done with those, i’ll get some nose plugs and keep on testing this mx. :o here are my results from today, split by spray.

excuse my language, but this stuff smells like crap. 
sprayed it and hated my life for about 3 minutes. i did all front neck today but for future testing, it’s gotta be back of neck or wrists or something. yikes. other than that, no apparent self effects.

walked into the store at the same time as an older couple. they looked down/away as the saleslady was going to greet them and i stared right at her so she turned to me to say hi (too far away to be phero related). i asked her where i could find a specific gift and she directed me. after i picked out the gift, i lingered around people as much as possible. there was a good mix of people: the older crowd (50’s +), the standard crowd (high 30’s / low 40’s housewives and such), and the younger standard crowd (newlyweds or people registering for gifts, etc) plus some salespeople. not a single hit from anybody. while this makes for a boring report, it didn’t surprise me too much since people aren’t there to shoot the breeze so much. paid for my gift and left.

still smells like crap. didn’t know how others would react so i walked around a bit to dry down before making another encounter.

interesting thing here. after i sprayed and dried down i went into a sunglass shop. the salesguy (30’s) was in the back and came out to say hi. he was pretty friendly, really passionate and knowledgeable about eyewear and the latest trends. i talked to him the whole time i was trying on stuff – i told him what i like, what i don’t like, what i currently wear, any new styles or trends coming out, etc. this would normally be great, right? it seems like the more i hung around, the more reserved he got. after about 5 minutes (made it halfway around the racks) he had gotten pretty quiet, 5 minutes after that (all the way around the racks) he barely said a word. i know this happens when people aren’t interested in buying stuff; the salespeople just say enough to be nice and know they’re not getting a sale. but i was interested. you would think a salesperson would be happy to deal with a customer who isn’t just there to waste time. did i piss him off? did i ghost? both? i left and said thanks and he barely nodded his head.
i go into some clothing stores, all with young girls on the floor (20-24/5, hb6+). not a single one said anything to me. one “hit” that stood out was when i was looking at a wall of clothes with a kid and his mom on my immediate left and an older couple on the far side. this was after i had walked around the store a bit and past some salesgirls. one girl comes over and asks the older couple if they need help, they decline. then she asks the mom and kid if they need help, and they decline. i turn around because i know she’s going to ask me next and i wanted to be polite. to my surprise, she just doesn’t say anything at all. looks at me, kinda half-smiles, turns around and walks away. now i’m really shocked. to be honest, i wasn’t going to buy anything anyway, but what if i needed help? she didn’t even ask. it’s one thing to ignore me and not ask, but if you’re looking at me, and don’t ask, then that’s weird.
disclaimer: i don’t want it to sound like “oh, look at jayarea, he’s so prententious and wants every salesperson to help him.” no, it’s not like that. i actually prefer minimal interaction with salespeople so i can browse freely. i’m just honestly shocked at these results. the sunglass guy becoming less friendly, the salesgirl looking at me and just turning around. these are interesting results. keep in mind this whole time i have a smile on my face, i look neat and presentable… nothing negative about my aura at all.

bank: had to deposit a check. the teller (female, 40’s) was friendly but nothing out of the ordinary. quick encounter there.
mall #2: people were a bit nicer here. got a gift card at macy’s and the lady (40’s) was friendly, still nothing out of the ordinary. browsed a few shops and the salespeople would ask me if i needed help, i would decline, and then they wouldn’t speak to me again. i’m used to that. then the negativity hits again, though i’m not sure if it’s from pheros or just the salespeople being rude.
i go into a store and it’s guys stuff on the right, girls on the left. i go right and there’s 3 salesgirls there (20’s, hb6+), in a row from the front of the store to the back, doing various salespeople things. i browse past the first one and she doesn’t even look up (i didn’t know she worked there until i was leaving and she said “thanks for stopping in.”). i browse past the second one, she looks up, doesn’t smile (if i recall correctly), goes back to folding stuff. i browse past the last one, she looks up, kinda smiles, says hi, then goes back to folding stuff. at the time, i thought they were just being rude, but now looking back on it, it could’ve been a range effect. i walked in and was near the first girl, who caught most of the range, thus she didn’t look up. the second girl was at the edge of my range so she at least looked up. the last girl was completely out of my range and i got to her right before the range of the second girl took effect so she looked up and said hi. does that make sense?

i don’t think i have enough data to say “i ghost at 2+ sprays” or “i piss people off at 2+ sprays,” but i think it’s safe to say that this isn’t an outright “friendly” mx like mx272 or mx292, or even steve’s results with p104 (i personally got nothing from p104).

the next issue is the testing environment. yes, i’m constantly (ish) moving, it’s a sales environment, and everybody is a stranger. i remember back when mx292 came out it was noted that the wearer should stay around the target for 10 minutes or so before seeing true results.

that makes me wonder, if i linger for a few minutes and people are already ignoring me and becoming unfriendly, what happens if i stay longer?

one thing that just came to mind was that of scent congruency. maybe the scent isn’t congruent with my personality, thus people get mixed messages. for lack of a better example, it’s like a stripper wearing old lady perfume (you know what i’m talking about). here i am being all fun and flirty when maybe i should be demonstrating “raw power.” could that be a factor? i know in my circle of friends i’ve never really smelled something like this before.
like i mentioned earlier, this was just a one-time thing as i have some ptives to test and layer. in my spare time i’ll come back to this and see if i can make something happen. hopefully in that time this pack will have gotten more tests with better results.
