I am not really comparing them to Pheromones. I am pointing out there are many things which we have yet to fully understand in this universe. To stop believing and questioning is to stop discovery.

It matters not whether you believe in Creation or Evolution, or a combination of both (As I do). If we were created by a God, it only stands to reason that he would create us with the same basic physiology as he gave to animals.
If you believe in evolution, then it’s even more obvious.
Thanks Tisha. I knew you weren’t making a direct comparison. I just wanted to clarify that we know for a definite fact that pheromones do exist, while UFO’s and paranormal activity have not actually been proven. Or at least the government doesn’t want us to know about them. 
BTW, I believe in both, UFO’s and the paranormal.
To me, it’s almost absurd to believe that out of the billions and billions of stars and planets in the universe, we are the only lifeforms.
As to the paranormal, we only utilize about 10% of our brain power. It’s not a far leap for me to believe that some people have tapped into areas of the brain that most of us can’t. And who’s to say that there aren’t other dimensions occupying the same space and time-line as us.
OK, yeah I guess I started to go a little overboard there. I’ll stop now.
The thing is, we DO have them. Why is it then that when a group of females live with each other, their periods start shifting so they all start having similar periods? That has been linked to pheromones. You also have to realize that although these pheromones are synthesized human pheromones, not animal pheromones.
I’ve asked a doctors and biologists what they think of pheromones. I’ll get responses like your bio teacher such as “eh, those are usually in animals and are useless for humans.” Or as I’ve asked my mom who is a physician in internal medicine what she thought. Her response was along the line of “well, from what I learned we do have pheromones, but I don’t think they are play much of a role.” I asked a biologist and he said pretty much the complete opposite. I asked him about pheromones and if he felt they existed or are those people who believe they exist a bunch of crazies. He just said “well, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but when you start seeing trends like when a group of women are together with each other for long periods of time, they start to have the similar period times. Or why is it that people are taking their sweat and doing research on it?” I believe pheromones is just an area that hasn’t received much scientific interest. You might not believe it, but psychology was the same way. It took many psychologists a long long time before psychology was seen as a valid science. However, you’ll still hear people today who believe psychology is a bunch of crap even with all the scientific evidence that is around today. If you look at where psychology is today, you have I/O psychs who make millions, you have counselors treating people with things from anxiety, to depression and anger management. The idea of pheromones has been around for a while, it just hasn’t received much scientific interest yet.
Also for the whole “I don’t believe in pheromones, I just like the smell.” You can BUY the smell from plenty of people and at a much cheaper price if all you’re looking for is the smell. Instant Shine, Gentleman have the neroli scent. You can buy that scent online from several people if thats the smell you like for fairly cheap. Just do a search of neroli on google and you’ll find it.

If something can’t be proved by science, it doesn’t mean it is not working. Maybe we don’t have the technology to prove that yet or we don’t fully understand how human body works yet.
If it can’t be proved by science, then we have to prove it practically and I think there are enough people here report on the effect of pheromones practically.

Some things are just not meant to be shared with the general public, like many government secrets. All the people I’ve chosen to share my pheroknowledge with have become believers (I gave them each 3 togo’s of Ammo, IH, and IFM). I spend time debating weather or not they would be capable of understanding what I need to tell them to let them understand. So these are usually my closest friends (I’ve shared with maybe 5 of them).

Realize pheromone research is pretty recent and specialized. The most important discoveries happened only in the past 10 to 15 years. Those that studied biological sciences and medicine in bygone decades know little unless it was somehow directly related to their work and thus kept current. I suspect as more research is published and becomes scientific mainstream such ill-informed opinions will gradually change. You don’t need to go further than the research abstracts on this site to catch an inkling of the volume of research emerging.

You speak wise words. To believe that we are the only intelligent beings with the capabilities to reach our HOME plant is absurd. If history teaches us one huge lesson it is that if you take a country, Ill say USA because I live here and its a prime example, sure It’s all nice and “advanced” and powerful, but in the eyes of history, it is nothing. Rome was 10 times as powerful as we are, and in 500 years they are nothing more than a scattered group of people. 2000 years…ruins. Even human kind itself occupies a hardly imaginable period of time on the history of our planet. Even bigger, is a toddler compared to the .0001% we know about.
True advancement will be when humans can harness their true brain power. Studies on people with the highest IQ’s on the planet show no more than, if I am not mistaken, around 20% active brain usage. If you havnt seen it, watch Phenomenon and it will make sense what could happen.

You inspired me to say something and its great to hear someone that understands how little we really know, and how much there is to learn, yet for some, Ignorance is a blissful universe

And history shows that nations rise to power, remain in power for approximitely 200 years, then grow lazy and fall. So, the question is did our 200 years start in 1776, on beating the Germans and Japanese to dropping the Atom Bomb, or at some point in between?
Then again, no nation in past history has had nuclear weapons or the ability to destroy the planet. So, the next question would be that will our downfall trigger a nuclear genocide and the end of this life cycle on Earth?
As to harnessing the true power of the brain, I do belive that a very small percentage of people have learned or developed the ability to harness areas of the brain that most of us cannot, and that’s what we consider to be a part of the paranormal world. But, on a scientific and medical scale, we have an extremely limited knowledge of how the brain actually works and it’s full potential. And, I don’t know that we will ever be able to understand it fully.
We have an understanding of the different regions of the brain, what they are responsible for, how information is processed, memories are stored and recalled, synaptic pathways, etc, but we still have no real understanding of how our logical and creative/intuitive thought processes merge to create unique conclusions. Nor do we understand what the remiaing 80 - 90% percent of what the brain is there for and capable of.
I am of the belief that America will not fall in a war, but rather our economy will drop so far that it will reach a point at which It cannot return. From that point on, America will have no power at all, because in the end, everything costs somebody money. And there are signs of it everywhere. The rich only investing and spending only small fractions of their money to revitalize our economy, and most of the time that money isn’t even going here, it’s probably on its way to China, Japan, Mexico or what have you. And the poor are left to spend every last dollar just to survive the week, and all their money is going to the rich. Unemployment due to outsourcing because everyone is far too greedy to spend a little more to hire a worker at home is going to drive the gap between rich and poor so far apart that I honestly cannot speculate as to what will happen. I don’t believe that in our society a revolt/revolution/rebellion will occur. The Nature of what America is stands in the way. Everyone is far too diverse, and far too afraid. But I can’t really say, hard times cause people to resort to things unimaginable. So much is leaving, and so very little is coming back in.
I believe meditation is an excellent way to stimulate your brain to higher levels of activity. Maybe not in the way of more area usage, but more efficient usage of what is already there, streamlining the process of thought and stimulating creativity while at the same time promoting self control and discipline. Although it may sound cheesy, as part of trying to become a far better programmer and learn more about systems, I read about studying Zen, and after only a few weeks of minor practice, I feel more energized, alert, and I enjoy things a lot more even school, as well as finding things to enjoy in those that I previously despised. The first step towards improving the brain can be taken by oneself, and its a HUGE step to be sure.
And of course, the innate scientific problem of learning about the brain is that the best way to learn about something is study it in action, and unfortunately, all our sensors, nodes, and other various pointy/suctiony objects we have are far more primitive in the scope of the object they are testing. Yet if we try and physically study a living brain, it doesn’t end well for the person whose brain is being studied. However, once we do learn more about the workings of our brain, as well as the rest of your body, all that we know will increase at rates that we haven’t seen since electricity or steam or home computers.
And I do believe the same as you say, that also to believe our 3-dimensional world is all there is to it seems naive as well. I mean, just in our dimension alone reside 2 others, right? I wonder how many dimensions can say that about us. Think of the locker seen at the end of Men In Black? Imagine that for a sec…yeah…radical
Ah dunno, last time I was in Rome it was an ultra cool city, packed with art, music, architecture, fashion, killer food & wine, interesting people and country vistas up the arse. Lots of 1000 years plus churches, castles, bridges, roads, etc., still in daily use. Italy was responsible for the birth of the Renaissance and Baroque and is still the seat of the Catholic Church. HAve you seen the sports cars they make? About as far from ruins and scattered people as it gets. Well, Venice is slowly sinking. I’m going back this Summer before it’s gone…

Erm, on the item of the 10% brain power used - I’ve read recently that this is just “false rumor”, one of the widest spread false assumptions there is! And it is not understandable why we should have that much brain if we don’t use it - biologically and evolutionary seen that would be very unlikely. No creature on earth would keep up that big of an energy waste (the brain uses most of the energy we ingest).
