im looking for evidence to support my theory that chocolate affects copulin output.
some women have high copulins output, its supoosedly heavier just before menses, and chocolate is the sole-diet of atleast 1/3 of the women the days just before so i have to wonder… if chocolate affects the bodies chemistry (does it not affect seratonin or mimic or whatnot?)maybe it also makes a gal sexy.
okay, so this might be a huge jump…maybe even needing the help of moon-shoes, but anyone with me on this?
Lor:
I am not sure about chocolate but here is an interesting article to consider..
A series of short-chain fatty acids (copulins), produced by bacterial action from components of vaginal secretions, are involved in the olfactory communication of the female’s sexual attractiveness to the male. In intact females, the content of acids in vaginal lavages decreases at midcycle when the female’s attractiveness is highest. To test if this apparently anomalous decrease was due to an increase in the rate at which secretions were externalized, 422 wipes of the sexual skin area were collected during 19 menstrual cycles and analyzed for short-chain fatty acids. Despite considerable day-to-day variations there was a trend for the acid content of the wipes to increase at mid-cycle, a result that was consistent with there being an increased flow of secretions to the outside at this time. Other factors besides the rate of externalization may also regulate the strength of the olfactory signal, and the present results are consonant with a role for these acids in signaling the fertile period to the male.

Interesting - I’d always read that copulins are most notable at ovulation (which only makes sense biologically) and not premenstrually. Guardian, can you give us a link for that study, or the authors and where it was published?
Lor, I’m with you on the chocolate (darker the better) and consider it a dietary requirement throughout the month. ![]()
Wow… upping natural copulin production…that’s a great motivator to tweak my diet to allocate some of my daily cals to choccies.
I can’t wait for my bottle of Instant Sexiness to arrive. I think that wearing some synthetic copulins will help.
Well Lor, I am not sure about the copulin output, but you are correct about seratonin…some believe chocolate is an aphrodisiac, but I also heard that vanilla acts as one too, as does orange, so Androtics has got them all covered ![]()
Chocolate: Aphrodisiac or Euphamism?
It is great that chocolate is considered to be a health food now…
I always make sure that I get my required daily intake of it. Sex and chocolate are my two most favorite things, and it is a pretty close competition. Sometimes sex and chocolate combine quite nicely.
It is interesting to note that women especially have a high affinity for chocolate.
You know what Lor, I will eat chocolate regardless of whether or not it will increase my copulin output. What the heck, I’ll give it a try.
All for the sake of science!
your desire to serve the pherocommunity and your willingness to endure the hardships of chocolate and sex for our sake and science sake brings tears to my eyes,Ilsa…
do you have ANY idea how long it took to type that out while laughing my ass off?
your too cool
I know, it’s rough, but someone’s got to do it.
i have also found it interesting that the more “sexual” and openminded of women that would be ballsy enough to try pheromones/experiment also agree that the consumption of chocolate is high on the priority list…to the annoyance of everyone that thinks i am just playing here i do not consider this a coincidence
Lor;
You are too much, baby. I like it, keep it up…PM me if you get a minute..

Lor–the new February issue of Vogue has an article by Jeffrey Steingarten (his food articles alone are a reason to subscribe) on CHOCOLATE. He eats chocolate every hour, says he.
Yes, he is fat. But a most charming writer, and years ago I wrote asking him for a recipe for Tarte Tatin and he kindly responded with a 3-page handwritten letter. Maybe even on engraved stationery. So I have endless respect for him on that account alone. If you don’t want to buy the issue, PM me and I’ll scan and email it to you.

I am TOTALLY allergic to chocolate, but as many here know, a ton of my fragrances are gourmand and have a choccy note in them. I would literally end up in the hospital if I consumed so much as a square (same goes for drinking coffee and fresh orange) but I do adore the smell of it.
“The Man” is however, anything BUT allergic to chocolate, and profits from my relatives who forget come Easter that I cannot eat chocolate..
..he still has two uneaten Easter eggs in my freezer in fact…>_<

i had a lump in my throat the whole time i read that.
Ail i am so sorry. ![]()
i wonder if there is a way to circumvent the histaminic result…
well, i still know that if i couldnt eat it, id still smell like it, or atleast vanilla/caramel/butterscotch. if your allergic to any or all of that, i am holding a charity benefit . there is no way im allowing it ![]()
Life can be so cruel.
im starting to think butterscotch/rum and cinnamon rolls can be sexy smells too. maybe i need to modify and enlarge the pheromone box i have placed myself in with the chocolate… maybe it ought to be a candy cult?
I love chocolate. Unfortunately I am a guy.
Lor are you trying to give yourself an excuse to eat more choccie? Because im sure you dont need one, you are a lady after all ![]()
I did read something a while back about cocoa affecting peoples moods, though I cant quite remember exactly what was said might try and dig it out.
well i read where simply eating yogurt (and specifically different cultures) will alter and affect copulin output, negatively as well as positively. your body is a chem set, food is a drug. provide the right combinations and you become copulin machine (okay but not you, lol).
i believe this wholeheartedly…

Just remember, it is really DARK chocolate that is considered to be a health benefit …supposed to have antioxidents.
