Oklahoma declaring sovereignty

Ding Winner!
I hope when he presents it he is wearing some A314…

I can;t believe Okie got it before us Texans… I’m surprised Cali hasn’t done this either…

It was just a matter of time. Washington has been way overstepping their bounds for years. They can’t even get their stated federal responsibilities right most of the time (border control, a tax code the average person can understand, IRS accounting for the tax dollars that fund them, etc.) so why do they think they have the wisdom, knowledge or expertise to do anything else correctly?

‘Nullification’ goes all the way back to 1798. It’s the basis for several states resolutions written by such notables as Jefferson, Madison and John C. Calhoun. Because of the “Necessary and Proper Clause” in Article I of the Constitution and the lack of the word ‘expressly’ in the Tenth Amendment (The powers not {expressly} delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.), these resolutions carry no weight at the federal level.

It will take 38 states legislatures, 67 Senators, and 290 Representatives to fix it…who’s up for the fight? Be aware, doing this would negate just about every Supreme Court decision you’ve ever heard the name of, from Roe v Wade all the way back to Marbury V Madison. The unintended consequences are staggering.

Screw them all! I’m declaring myself sovereign! From now on you all can refer to me as mark-in-his-own-little-world!

I can only sit here in the Democratik People’s Republik of Vashington State, comrade, and silently salute. I see this less as an actual attempt to secede and more of a commentary on the state of affair in Washington. A state of affairs, I should point out, that crosses party lines.

Agreed! A number of States have started passing resolutions to reign the Fed back in and take back what’s supposed to be theirs.

They aren’t trying to secede, but rather are trying to get Washington to halt its illegal activities with regards to the rights of the States.

Diane

you got it

Stop the Bail Outs!
Don’t reward bad behavior!

Let the market correct itself.
Prop it up and we’re in for a long depression.
See 1929.

Yup, you’re absolutely correct, that’s exactly what Alfred Mellon said to do in 1929, and Hoover listened!

The Union is better off without the backward South anyway.
