Well, i think i speak for many when i say i’m really tiring of “boring” Game scent. I received many many hits when i used original scented Ammo, such a delicious spicy cologne fragrance. I have done some comparison testing with Game scented Ammo and i am just not getting the same results. I really do not understand y they’d change a winning formula?. Or lets have the option whether we want un-scented in the 30ml bottles…i would love to cover an unscented Ammo product with the delectable DST Pheros cover. Same, lets say an unscented mx292 with DST Pheros cover. There should be an option for those of us who do not like Game scent…imagine unscented mx203 with , say Musc Ravageur as a cover.
im sure alot on here agree that a large part of Original Ammo 1.0 and 1.5 success is the scent. I’m with Gegogi here, i’d prefer to buy a big bottle of AE [Ammo on steroids] than a 30ml “Game” scent of Ammo. i cant really picture myself buying a 30ml anything in Game scent. i disagree that its diffusion properties r any different to the Nautica style original scented Ammo.
things we can do about it:
.1. mx211 is original Ammo scent [TAA and A-nol], and im assuming mx169 is original Ammo scent if it ever comes back into stock. So, say add mx211, 1 spray of IG and 1 TUH, and u get a more social, less sexual original scented Ammo. Of course 2 sprays of TUH, 1 IG, 1 mx211 could approximate, yet the mcg’s of A-nol r much higher and TAA would make it an Ammo version 1.5 rather than 1.0.
Buy chemset a-nol, androsterone and androstenone at 2.5mcgs each and cover with Nautica Competition.

Not only did I get lots of compliments from total strangers … from “You smell good!” “I told my friend how good you smell!” to “Somebody’s smelling good in here!,” but I LIKED THE SCENT, TOO!
I think I brought this up in the STORE section, Signor M, and if I can remember correctly … we’re SOL on getting the old sweeter-smelling scent back!
Still … if this post is to help get a choice OR the old scent back … <raises both hands … high!>
I originally liked the Game scent, and I believe I’d previously mentioned how nice it would be if Ammo was available in it. Now, however, I have to say I agree. The Ammo scent was nice, and it was just yesterday that I dug out the empty 30 ml bottle that was my very first purchase, opened it, and took a whiff.
I don’t dislike Game per se, but I am a bit overexposed, what with about 90% of my remaining stock having that smell (yeah, yeah, I need to make a new order soon!). The problem, from what I understand, is that new regulations for certain fragrance components killed off the scent. Unless those components can be synthesized decently, we’re probably not ever going to see it again.
It’s funny how the old AMMO scent wasn’t really favored by a lot of guys until we no longer had the choice…gotta admit I was guilty of dissing it on occasion. Game’s not exactly an abomination. I’ve probably gotten more compliments on it than I did on the old AMMO scent.
If there is any chance at all that the old AMMO or a reasonable facsimile thereof can be brought back I’m in favor of it. If it can’t be, I’ll ration my old stock and augment it with AMMO-light neroli and AMMO-Akuto. With the MXs now being predominantly Game scented it’s nice to have something else.
Yeah I kinda feel the same way as Data4 on this one… I think I actually like(d?) the game scent better at first, but now that pretty much everything is either game or neroli I’m starting to get tired of it. If they can’t bring back the original Ammo scent I think they should totally introduce a few other scents, you know just to keep things fresh.
Hell if you check the custom additions section of the site asides from neroli, the women have four custom scents to choose from, and the guys only have two; Game and Akuto. And everyone who’s smelled Akuto says it’s just god awful, so I’m afraid to custom order a whole bottle of something only to find out it’s nasty… so that only leaves one real viable option: the Game scent.
I don’t think it was an legal issue, but a component in Ammo scent that some perfumer’s association was deemed to cause skin irritation in certain individuals. I don’t recall any complaints of rashes on this forum nor did I get one, and I have sensitive skin. Nautica Competion is still on the market and smells almost exactly the same as Ammo, so a assume there is a way around the problem.
Mahalo’s idea of home brewing your own is actually a good idea and I’ve already done it, albeit mixing Competion and chemset mones directly in a bottle. Works great. The main problem is you need extremely concentrated Androstenone, androsterone & androstenol (read: expensive) as the cologne loses its character if diluted too much. I find Competion smells best around 5 or 6 parts to 1 part mone.
Now, I have never used the original ammo, but I have tested MX169 and Mx178 which I am assumming is the old ammo scent. I DO NOT LIKE IT at all. To me, it smells like an old ladies potporri vase, or maybe a dryer sheet. It seems very hard to cover. I really like the new game scent. In 31 years i have never got this many compliments on a cologne. People who nomally tell me I smell good with game scent, did not like the scent of those two mx’s. However, they do not like the new raw power scent either. My x-wife loves game scent, and clearly stood up and sat acroos the room from me when I was wearing Mx169. She said the scent closed her throat. And I was only wearing 2 sprays of it. I hope you guys get your wish and get that scent as an option. In my opinion, game scent is better than the scent in the 2 mx’s i have tried. I hope that game scent stays an option for a long time to come.
I like both scents. I bought a new bottle of Ammo when I saw I was running out, so I’d have the option to choose which scent to go with. But Frankly, I’d wear Ammo if it smelt like horse shit, I love it that much. Seriously, when threads start appearing about scents becoming ‘boring’ then it’s an indicator we’re taking the pheromones for granted. I can’t think of a guy who’d turn down a bottle of Ammo. We’re the lucky ones for even knowing Ammo exists. That’s probably all about to change with the Ammo launch, but then again it’ll probably be game scented lol.
I found the original Ammo scent to be strong to the point of being over powering. The top note was like a cheaper cologne, the heart note was bareable and the base note like chemical or plastic. I could only use a few sprays due to the strength of smell.
New game scent ammo is great because it can be covered easily. It smells like an exotic soap. It is new to me however, Im sure I could use more sprays of it in one application.
I don’t think you’d want to use more than 1 or 2 sprays of any cologne or else you’ll risk becoming “the cologne guy.”
Actually I agree the original Ammo does smell a bit sharp and, ah, cheap. Smells like a WallyWorld class cologne. Oddly, it grew on me. Must be my blue collar heritage. Whatever it mellows out quickly and I certainly have gotten tons of compliments over the years. Not a single one for “game.” Zip. Nuttin’. In contrasting Competition to Ammo, although they smell very similar, Competition is a little smoother and more analog. I usually bought Ammo 2X and cut it 1:1 with Competition (sometimes spiking with NPA). I don’t know if it was the NPA or the Competition, but the mix drove women nuts (even gay men went totally googoo eyed).
Ummm… Like I said asides from neroli there are four custom scents to choose from for the ladies and two for them men. I wasn’t counting unscented because technically that’s the absence of a scent.
Shrug, personally, I’d like to see a completely brand new male scent.
Also, I think the men’s scents are WAY too over-powered. If the intention is just to cover up the smell of the pheromones, and to help with diffusion, I think they should try to cut back on the scent component massively.
Game is over used right now, and in most mixes it drives me nuts.
The “old” Ammo scent was ok, I felt it was too strong. I actually liked it the best the one time I had crafted myself a custom mix in an old Ammo to-go bottle. There was just enough of the Ammo scent left in there to add a nice quality to the mix.
I’ve got one of my recent “single molecules” in akuto and I’m not really a fan. It’s probably my least favorite of the 3.

The scent of ammo has permanently changed? I noticed that the bottle I know have smells different than the first. My bottle is marked version 1.0.1. Which version is that?
And also what store bought fragrance does it smell the most like? People ask me what I’m wearing and I can’t tell them ammo.
