I tried searching the forums for an answer to my question, but did not quite find a satisfactory answer… I am curious to know if there are pheromones that can increase women’s testosterone levels–either by having the pheromone applied on a woman directly or by exposing a woman to a man who is wearing it.
I’m confused… Women have very low testosterone levels by nature as they are female and testosterone is a male hormone. Why would you want to increased testosterone levels in a woman?
There are some women with higher than normal levels of testosterone, but they suffer from medical conditions that give them higher levels of androgens, which is psychologically very distressing for them as they get clinical signs & symptoms of androgen excess such as deep voice, acne, increased hair growth etc
Increased testosterone means an increased sex drive. I think that is what the OP meant to ask. IDK.

MuskCloud: yes, exactly. The FDA approved a testosterone cream not too long ago called AndroGel which contains 1% testosterone. While it is primarily intended for males, it has been applied in low dosages to women and has been shown to increase sex drive–although interestingly a placebo also increased sex drive, though not as much as testosterone.
In men yes… Women not so much
Increasing testosterone in women to boost libido is really only helpful if there is a clinically significant decrease in the normal testosterone production eg menopause. If you increase the levels in a woman who has normal female levels of testosterone you don’t get a super horny woman, you get androgenic effects
AndroGel is ONLY prescribed to menopausal women, and it does come with the androgenic side effects even though it does help the sex drive
This is from the Rx information sheet;
“Women and children should avoid skin contact with AndroGel application sites in males. Changes in body hair distribution, significant increase in acne, or other signs of virilization should be brought to the attention of a physician. AndroGel may cause fetal harm in a pregnant woman due to virilization of a female fetus”
“AndroGel is contraindicated during pregnancy or in women who may become pregnant. It is teratogenic and may cause fetal harm. Exposure of a female fetus to androgens may result in varying degrees of virilization. If this drug is used during pregnancy, or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to a fetus.”
To answer the OP’s original question, I don’t believe so. Pheromones can make a woman aroused in the presence of a man she desires, or subtly nudge her towards looking more favourably on a potential mate who she might not normally consider. But they have no direct effect on the level of testosterone in the bloodstream. I’m sure they’d be banned or regulated a lot more tightly than they are now, if that was the case.
Musk
I’m aware that AndroGel is contraindicated for women because of the negative side effects associated with it.
Xiphoid: “If you increase the levels in a woman who has normal female levels of testosterone you don’t get a super horny woman, you get androgenic effects.” That is well possible.
The premise of the question was whether miniscule application of testosterone could have sexual arousal effects in a similar way that TUTH would, whether such testosterone could enhance the effect of a pheromone like TUTH, and finally whether there is a pheromone that could directly boost testosterone levels, and thus work in tandem with TUTH to enhance the overall sexual arousal effect.
Muskcloud: I could see how it would be in the vested interest of the government to control access to something like testosterone, seeing the ethical dilemmas it poses. For example: men rubbing it on women without their awareness or consent in order to make them sexually receptive, despite their knowing of the negative side effects that come with its application.
Well, if that was what you meant to ask, why didn’t you say so?
The initial post doesn’t read like that at all…
I think your understanding of pheromones seems a touch unrealistic. Pheromones aren’t magic potion that will make women sexually receptive to you or make them jump you. They don’t create, they only enhance what’s already there on some level.
Also keep in mind that hormones and pheromones aren’t the same, not do they act by or get delivered by the same mechanisms.
Testosterone is a Hormone, Hormones are certain chemicals used as signals, secreted by cells inside the body (into the blood), for the purpose of stimulating other cells.
Pheromones are hormones that work outside the body as signalers. They enter the brain producing a mood effect by triggering the neurotransmitters.
While related, because pheromones are derived from hormones they act on the body and brain very differently. They enter the body from different pathways
That being said…
No, scientific studies have not found a pheromone that increases the testosterone levels of women. They have however found that the vaginal secretions of women during ovulation which is called copulins increases men’s testosterone levels by 150% when they are exposed to them. Even those studies conducted by Astrid Jutte have not been fully explored and results depended on other sensory perceptions. Does this mean there is not a pheromone out there that can have this effect ? No it doesn’t, it just means that it has not been discovered as of yet.
Now onto your second question…
A woman’s libido can be effected by many hormones inside the body. Estrogen levels, testosterone levels etc etc… However adding testosterone to a women with normal levels of testosterone already will not cure a libido problem or increase a woman’s sexual arousal. In fact it can act in a opposite manner. Testosterone replacement is only effective for arousal in those who have a deficiency.
So it would depend on the women wearing the testosterone. Your wearing it outside the body has very little if any effect on her unless it begins to convert to anone on the body due to the Coryneform bacteria present on the body.
Now if your already wearing an anone product such as TUTH and conversion does occur you could produce the opposite effect your looking for because you could produce to much anone. I would have to say no the use of testosterone applied outside the body would not in every case enhance the sexual effect unless a deficiency of testosterone in either sex was present already unless your looking to attract post menopausal women. They can tolerate higher levels of anone then premenopausal women can.

Thanks Tisha, that was very informative.
added complexity:
“In both the human and porcine testes, synthesis of the Δ16-androstenes (AND as well as other volatile steroids such as androstenone and androstenol) is independent of androgen formation.” --(p. 11)
The precursors for androstadienone [AND], androstenone, and androstenol are progesterone and pregnenolone (e.g., not testosterone). This makes it more difficult to claim a direct link between androstenone/androstenol levels and the appeal of masculine body odor, and it helps to explain the difficulties many people encounter when trying to formulate effective mixes.
There is also the issue of species specificity when trying to get from the pheromones of other mammals to human pheromones (and behavioral affects). Pheromones associated with estrus in other mammals, are not likely to attract human males to human females. Male dogs might hump the leg of a woman because of her associated progesteronic scent, but a progesteronic pheromone has been shown to decrease testosterone in men.

I’m in a similar situation. I’m a sports woman who rides motorcross. I was looking to elevate testosterone level to raise my aggression levels. Now I just take DHEA supplements.
