This entry has little to do with pheromones or mixes or anything, really its just for me to but down my own scattered thoughts… I’ve never really kept a journal before for anything and am now finding it a great place to record my thoughts feelings and experiences (duh haha). For anyone else reading this let me apologize as this might come off as broken thoughts or scattered and hard to follow but this is really for my own purpose in getting what I have been thinking about lately down so I can refer back to it and tweak my philosophy when needed.
Segmentation:
Lately I have felt like I need to “hurry up” in life I’m 26 years old and in a job that I can survive on but not satisfied with, I’m single and as much as I’m enjoying it I want that deep connection with a mate that you see in movies. I feel like time is slipping by and through my fingers… I want to go back to school but keep putting off making the enrollment call (I’m worried that I won’t have enough time to work and go to school). I’m the type of person who although I have learned patience still wants what I want NOW this instant.
I’ve realized lately that part of my problem is that each moment in my life I am thinking about the next one coming up. Although I would like to say I live for the present and in the moment I have finally realized that I didn’t really understand how to do it. We hear all these old adages like stop and smell the roses that are suppose to remind us to be present, my favorite quote even is: “The past is history, the future a mystery, and today is a gift… that is why they call it the present” (In case your wondering where I heard that first its a little embarrasing but that movie Kung Fu Panda
).
A little quick background information on why this is such a pressing issue for me. I’m constantly looking back (even when I report) at the past and my actions almost picking them apart thinking I should of done this… I could have said that… I wish I took the opportunity to do this… And while I realize that I’ve learned lessons through out it all I’m saddened that I didn’t take the time to really live those experiences my mind was in the future. Take for example high school (a trying time for anyone). I skated by not putting too much work into my learning, I’m smart enough to put out the bear minimum of effort to pass a class easily. In my mind I really just wanted out of Wyoming where I grew up and wanted to experience new things in bigger places… Forgetting to take advantage of doing the activities available to me to get the most out of my teen years that could set me up for the future better. I didn’t even have a plan of action I just wanted to slip by so I could then go on to something greater. Don’t get me wrong there were a lot of things I did do to help shape me into the person I am today (which I am very happy with how I have turned out and am excited to see where I can go). I just look back and realize all that I could have accomplished if I would have decided to cherish every passing moment. I even still do this today when I think back to the night before to give a report on whatever pheromone I was wearing.
Now maybe I’m behind the curve here but I never really stopped to think about how exactly to live in the now. Sure I have read many books on why it is important to “be present in the present” even books on the law of attraction and all that. But I haven’t decided on any course of action to take to insure I’m actually living and not just sliding through life.
That is until now… I labeled this segmentation because that is my plan of action in a nutshell. Its a more logical way for me to approach each day that I am sure will morph into a more fluid (and hopefully) automatic approach to living for each day. I always have things I want to get done each day, even if its just to relax for a moment, but find that I always am thinking well I need to do this next so I don’t allow myself to fully appreciate that activity whatever is that I am currently doing, for example today I work a half day starting at 12:30pm, I’ve always looked at my morning as shot due to the fact that I have to work at some point and am always just “waiting” to go to work instead of making the most of it.
What I am going to start doing today is breaking my day into segments… I know what I need and want to get done and I know I like to have fun and relax as well so to fit that all in like any big problem I am going to break my day down and tackle one thing at a time. Whether it’s pay my bills, get that monotonous task or tasks done, play video games, read, or take a nap… I’m going to make a conscious effort to fit as much of it in, but not only fit it in but also and more importantly “stay focused” on the activity. By that I mean not let thoughts of what ever I am going to do next or tomorrow or next week over shadow what I am doing right at this moment. I’m not saying completely disregard planning for the future, but its a plan to bring more awareness to the moment. For me to do this I want to make a “schedule” to get things done like right now for instance I gave myself an hour to type this up before I am going to get ready for work. This schedule will give me the freedom (as long as I do it properly) to let thoughts of the future and past go so I can concentrate on what is happening for better or worse right now.
As I am typing this I feel like slapping myself and saying duh wasn’t that easy to figure out haha. Whats really silly is I never really stopped to think about how I could live more in the moment, I pretty much just assumed that since I had read about the advantages of doing so I was naturally doing it and needed to put no more effort into it (yep I have an ego).
This entry is going to serve as a promise and as a reminder to myself on how to achieve more in my day
