Placebo Effect or Mental Conditioning?

There has been talk here and there of pheromones generating effects due only to a placebo effect, to which I’ve always dismissed as nonsense.

When I wear my pheros I see definite effects and results. Granted, this could be due to preconceived notions of what to expect from those pheros. But, in testing the latest ICM 0.25.1a mix with the additional 2 molecules, SteveO, Dancing Joker and myself all came to the same conclusion about what the new molecules bring to the mix, even though we had not discussed what to expect or why beforehand, and for one of these molecules there has been no testing and/or feedback.

When 3 people can see and describe the same effects, without bias of prior reporting and feedback, the potential for any placebo effect is removed and there is obviously something going on.

On to mental conditioning:

I have not gone pheroless to a nightclub almost since I started using pheromones, and have almost come to depend on my little bottles of magic. Last night I ended up pheroless at a club.

I had been at a friends office helping setup their intranet and at around 5:00 we decided to go shoot some pool and took off to a nightclub/pool hall. At around 9:00 he left, and I decided to stick around.

I realized that I was pheroless, and seriously considering running home to spritz myself with something, but decided against it. The club was not all that busy and I really wasn’t expecting or looking to meet anybody anyway. Besides, I figured it’s a good opportunity to see how well I do without anything on.

While I didn’t get any unsolicited IOI’s or DIHL looks, I did meet several women, and once I opened them and we got to talking I forgot I was pheroless. I ended up talking to 7 women throughout the night, had decent KINO going with a couple of them. And, I was as much on top of my game as if I had my strongest phero combo on.

In looking back at the night and comparing to nights out with my pheros on, I know that with pheros I am more likely to have women approach me and show interest. But, even without anything on, I still fared better than before I started using pheros.

We know that at least to some extent others will treat us as we expect to be treated and inline with how we feel about ourselves. I got used to getting attention and IOI’s from women, and even though none of the women I met made the first move, not one blew me off or showed a disinterest when I opened them.

So, my question is this: Does anybody else feel that pheromones provide not only the initial effect of generating attention, interest, respect, etc. from others, but also help to gradually shape our core inner beliefs and feelings about ourselves, what we project, and how we expect to be treated?

Pheromones as game training wheels. Interesting concept. Reps for that.

Personally, if two sprays of Instant Shine can calm down my OCD, Bi-Polar friend when he starts going manic, then there must be some sort of neurological change going on. He wouldn’t lie to me about it working, he’s much more worried about not taking sleep inducing medications. While he doesn’t use pheromones for self-medication on a regular basis, my couple experiences with him, to me, show me that it can’t simply be a placebo effect, though it may play a partial role in the use of consumer products. I don’t think I would say the same for Experimones or putatives. Those are much harder to pin down even if you’re looking for something specifically.

Yes, absolutely. It’s a concept that’s been discussed here and there many times. Pheromones are considered by some (maybe we reached a verdict on this and I missed it?) to be ‘social learning accelerants’(sp?). More or less the idea that you learn to become congruent with the pheromones you have on over a period of time. It believe it’s very real.

When I wear pheromones, the atmosphere changes, the vibe shifts. It takes me a while to figure out how the vibe has changed and in what it has changed. After I get a general feel for how things have changed, by experiencing it over a couple days, I become more familiar with it and aware of its nuances and subtleties.

Wearing pheromones in itself can place you into moods or modes of behavior that you are unused to. So it becomes a learning experience. Ordinary people become soldiers not after reading books on it, but after experience war for what it is. The same goes with social interaction. You’ll be terrible at making friends if you’ve fought everyone everywhere you’re whole life. You simply have no contextual information developed for you to act appropriately to the situation. Wearing pheromones allows us to visit different modes of behavior that we might not ordinarily experience. As your experience in that different mode of behavior accumulates, you’re more comfortable and more socially agile in that given situation.

Well, that’s exactly what I want the most out of me wearing pheromones - helping me to become a more social human being. And I believe it has indeed worked - to some extent at least… I’m still not a conversation wonder, but I’m getting better at it all the time! And pheromones helped simply by providing much more opportunities than I had before.

When I put on pheros right, I equate them to a big brother standing next to you.

Yes. There is an amount of “operant conditioning” going on in the wearer and the “targets” that occurs over time. Attitudes tend to change much easier than beliefs, though.

I notice I can engage in eye contact much easier even without pheromones (as in there is almost no difference now.. but the effects are sometimes different), but I still have problems doing “small talk” with people, probably becaues I have a deeply seated belief against it somewhere. Even with pheromones, my beliefs are not really changing all that much, just attitudes.

Of course, mones help shape who we are, they are part of our chemical makeup. They determine how we interact with the world around us .

I have often said and so has steve that the best way to see your mones work ater using them for a while is to stop using them. I dont use them about 2 days a week. It keeps me grounded and gives me a clearer perspective.
