An ex of mine once brought up in a conversation something she found out about me online. We were just talking on the phone and she said, hey, so you were part of a little club or something huh? I told her I had no idea what she was talking about. She explained she googled my nick (not this one) and my name, etc…to see what would come up. It was just some leftover posts from a CS forum I used to be a part of.
Either way, there’s two approaches to life when it comes to skeletons in our closet. Leave the door wide open and dare anyone that peeks inside to judge you (usually with a pretty large chip on your shoulder ), or keep the door under 24 hour watch, revolving codes, and 500 feet underground in a bomb proof shelter and hope no one ever finds out your past.
I’ve already got the FBI, CIA, IRS, NSA, DEA, and then some watching over my every move, I don’t need more people telling me that my life preferences are wrong. My lifestyle isn’t exactly ‘vanilla’ either and perhaps because I’m young, perhaps because I’m a little riled up from trying to fix my car for a week, but really, I can give a shit now. Part of the process of learning to devalue the judgement of others as far as sexual attraction goes also taught me, the rest of the world is the same, why should I care what they think as well?
That being said, my honesty has gotten my into trouble, has resulted in being rejected by some because of my past, and has also resulted in some unexpected praises. At this point, I’d like to believe that I don’t run from my past and have (to a point) accepted my past mistakes and don’t have shame in admitting I did stupid things. Perhaps it’s really just all a larger defensive mechanism, but if that really is the case, what can I do? Buzz off if you don’t like my style.
I guess that also gives you some of the meaning behind ‘Phya’. I can burn hot. But the Greeks also saw fire as a symbol for ‘change’.
Hehe i heard my name mentioned here Hmm, Zeph i did not expect that you will search the meaning of my name there. Well i check out the link, very interesting indeed Reps Zeph
Hmm, me and my monikers.. Well. I’m with some of the other gals on this too many stalkers too little time. A friend got me to sign up on facebook and within a week a stalker ex found me and messaged me. You’d think after 7 years he’d be over it but no. I’ve had about 13 or so nicks over time but I’m rather fond of this one.
I’m a very odd woman to say the least.
I need to change my legal name sometime it would make life easier.
meh… yep.. i used my real name.. ive gone by many, and changed mine a few times… i played neopets when i was little, and went by trippendawg, then i had a few run in’s with the inner parts of me, and went with platinum-something-or-other. now its just mikel, or mikelspencr, or platinum_wings (sometimes the “s” is swapped for a “z”).. ive been through my run of the mill.. find what you will
I don’t think Spinach is a very realiastic name, but it was better than what I had before, I guess. Plus, I don’t think any of my real life acquaintances will be able to Google me here unless they find the forum themselves!
Chatting with the “Dark Demon 666” or “loserboy”, doesn’t really make for as productive a time.
If anybody wants to change their names after they register, just let me know. I’ll probably change my own soon, so it’s more than just a first initial and last name. It’s not so bad, but I could make it better.
I don’t really want to be findable. I’m not the only Bob in the forum either. We could be more discernable as Bob1 , Bob2, Bob3, and so on, all 12,000 members of the forum. In life we have no name, in death his name is Bob (fight club).
I found out the hard way, that it is too easy for people to google me. I think MHarris has my real name, address, phone number, credit card info, all from AD’s online sales. I think the forum needs a degree of anonymity for purposes of revealing details.
Its human nature. The name we choose and sometimes our avatar’s say something about our personalities and state of mind.
I think the point that MHarris was trying to make is its easier for people to open up and connect with someone when they use certain type names. Names with negative connotations just push others away. This is not to say people should use there real given names if they don’t feel comfortable with that. Some people want to remain anonymous because they can open up more on sensitive subjects. But we have people of all types here.
It may be hard for some people of strong religious faith to connect with demonboy.
It may be hard for the alphas in the room to take loserboy seriously.
Its just human nature that the labels we put on things influence our emotions. Suppose you have a wonderfully delicious chocolate cake sitting on the table and you label it horse shit. More people will pass it by then stop for a taste. While I don’t believe in judging others on appearances or the labels we hide behind and I try not to do so its part of how we interact
Well, Misein means “Hatred” in ancient greek…
I registered right after I received my first order and had just dropped and broken that 30 ml tuth on my floor. Maybe that explains my emotions.
