record hits from pheros with spycam

dont quote me on this, but i think its lefal to record video..just not audio of unsuspectin person. i men hell, you could be recording your first trip to disneyland, all the images will probaby have other ppl in it.

What a huge fucking disappointment. i had two devices with me but obviously can’t handle them yet, as one only recorded some audio, not even video although that’s not supposed to be possible with this thing, and was then turned off when I thought I turned it on. The other one recorded Jack Shit. Booo. This sucks, I went to the grocery store and then grabbed a coffee and read a news paper at a coffee shop. Plenty of females in the surroundings and I chose not to look their way much since I thought I was getting proof with the cameras. Bullshit. :frowning:

The instructions for both these pieces of shit are all messed up. One of them records video when the red light is flashing and not while it’s lit up all the time, contrary to the manual. The other one, well the device doesn’t even look anything like the thing on the box and in the instructions. The location, or even the god damn number of buttons don’t match.

I know I won’t be getting top of the line stuff when buying dirt cheap China products but what the hell…Let’s at least get the information right. Don’t have to send me instructions for a fuckin tape recorder when I buy a small video cam.

Wow. One of these things was a watch and I do mean in the past tense. Couldn’t help myself, had to smash the piece of crap into smithereens. Quite unbelievable. I charged it fully and it seemed to be pretty OK. But then, once I figured out how to record, despite the faulty instructions, I could no longer connect the damn thing to the computer.

Finally I had to open it to get the memory card out of there and put that into my computer. The file was corrupt so no video. When I tried to reassemble the watch, the gasket was broken, so no more resistance to water. Without the gasket I couldn’t get the damn thing to stay together and finally i just smashed it to bits so I’d no longer need to think about it. It was cheap enough to make it too much of a fuss to try to get a refund.

Real piece of worthless junk.

The other cam, a pen, works allright. Not exactly HD quality like they claim on the box, but I called that bullshit even before purchase. The quality is fine for these purposes, just a little fun. Only downside is that it can’t be connected to the PC without a cable. On the pics it looked like it would fit straight into a USB-port and the connection is that big, but of some strange sort so I need the adapter.

Sucks, because I had planned to let it carry the music for my car stereo as well. It’s not quite as nifty when you have to carry some string for it.

I’d still like a watch with a cam, I’ve seen some that even look damn good. The one I got now didn’t look bad either but obviously it was rotten to the core on the inside. I don’t think I’ll be trusting watches this cheap in the future. Just gotta wonder if those that cost the double really are any better? I mean, I got this one cheap but I’ve seen the very same thing cost way more in other places.

Lacosteboy, I have to thank you for giving me this idea.

Now that I have a grasp on how the pen works, I carried it in my shirt pocket and went for coffee.
It was pretty slow in this place but there were two chicks sitting at one table so I positioned myself so that one of them was facing me from the side and the other had her back turned to me. I could easily angle the camera towards them and this fucking video is epic!

I didn’t look at them even once, so without the cam I wouldn’t know if there were any hits but now, well Stevie Wonder could confirm that they are easy to see.

EDIT: Gave you some rep. Never done it in any forum, never understood quite how it works but I reckon it’s a good thing?

I honestly saw more evidence of hits in the first two videos than in the third. Perhaps I’m against the majority here. In the first video, there were multiple occurrences of interest-based hair touches. Couldn’t see her eyes too well, but it was relatively easy to tell where she was looking.

In the second video, the girl looked over, and then immediately played with her phone. Tell-tale sign of a play-off, or an inconspicuous, “What? No, I’m not looking at anything.”

In the third video, I think some of those glances were incidental, and some of them were hits. There were instances of the girl intentionally looking just past you to seem like she wasn’t checking you out, and other times, I don’t think they were necessarily hits. It’s hard to say, because a test like this is based mostly on subjectivity, and thus difficult to verify.

Still, I think this is a very helpful thing, and I think it’s a great idea.

Depending on your state of residence, it may or may not be legal to film the general public without their consent. In most states, my understanding is that it is legal according to criminal law, but if the party discovers that they’ve been filmed, particularly if there will be a media platform for the footage, they may in most states have the ability to conduct a civil lawsuit. You won’t face fines or jail or anything, but if someone finds out, your risk is primarily getting sued, which in this scenario is highly unlikely anyway.

NOTE I am not a lawyer, or in any way affiliated with professionally practiced law of any kind. Nothing I say should be taken or interpreted as legal advice in any situation. These are just my opinions.

As for the morality aspect, I see no issue. I think most people try to “do the right thing” and take the righteous, do-no-harm stance, and say, “I disagree with that!” Perhaps they actually care, and perhaps, and more likely they have been told that being filmed in a public place engaging in normal everyday activity is some sort of violation of privacy, when really it isn’t. You are recording something that the general public can see anyway, because during the time of filming, you … are… in the general public… All you’re doing by filming it, is making it visible more than once to the same, slightly larger audience. This is thus NOT a violation of privacy.

There’s nothing private about being in public. Filming someone when they are alone is different. In public, I see no issue. People get irked by it, because society has told them to be irked by it, and they’ve never asked themselves why.

I say go for it man, I think this could be a really great way to look at what works.

The cam certainly reveals things one wouldn’t know of without it. Like when I was in the coffee shop, I made it a point not to even glance at the girl at the next table so that I wouldn’t affect anything. Watching the vid makes me feel bad in a strange kind of way for not even giving her a smile but then again I never knew she was looking that hard. I really didn’t know she was looking at all.

Very interesting experiment. This should help trying out all kinds of different mones and see which get what kind of reaction. Have to take a massive OD on IJ or Tuth as well and see what kind of faces people make when I’m not looking.

But I will be afterwards.

At least the pen cam is so discreet I can’t see any trouble arising from it. At least not while used in daytime settings.

I guess things could go really wrong if one were to wear one of them shirt button cams in some shady club, maybe one would wind up getting whacked for wearing a wire around the wrong people?

Misein, was your Pencam the same as mine (shown on the last page of this topic)?

It’s naff to use in dark locations, ie at night, but in daytime/well lit locations it is very clear; as is the audio. Transfering to PC is a breeze, just unscrew the base of the pen to reveal the USB and plug it into the PC. It does come with an adapter cable for PC’s with smaller socket (obviously not USB), but I’ve never had the need to use it.

There are other versions I’ve seen…

High Resolution SAS Spy Pen // Spy & Survival // BoysStuff.co.uk

…but I went for the Swann PenCam as I’ve used serveral of their other security products over the years and found them to be of high quality. I can’t fault their pencam.

Nope, not quite the same. Mine gives pretty good video quality in daytime settings and indoors if the place is well lit. What little I’ve shot in poor light conditions, i.e. in my car, was useless. Can only see the dashboard lights and the illumination of the stereo.

The audio I’m not sure of. I can’t distinguish much of what anyone says on the couple of vids I’ve shot, but that’s mostly due to distance and the number of voices and other noise in the room. I think the audio should be good.

The biggest downside is like I mentioned earlier that i need an adapter cable to plug this thing to the PC (or any other USB-port, like the car stereo). I probably will buy another one that can be plugged in without addtional cables and shit. This will do for now anyway.

That pen cam is pretty thick, though. I can see it in an office and wouldn’t think a thing about it, but who carries a large executive style pen on the street? I’d be afraid it would be too conspicuous. I think a button cam would probably be better, as long as you weren’t getting touched along the button line.

I thought about it too but it’s not that big. Wouldn’t want to borrow it to anyone while it’s on though, cause it gets pretty hot.

Even if I really don’t have the executive look, I don’t think the pen looks all too out of place in my shirt pocket. Besides, what are people to assume? That I indeed have a spy cam in my pocket? What the hell am I shooting then? It’s not like nudity or gore is to to be expected in a coffee shop in broad daylight.

I wouldn’t wear it to a bar or club and I think the video would be useless in such a dark environment anyway. On the other hand I’d be even less keen on wearing a button cam under such circumstances because there is a somewhat great “risk” of getting touched and that kind of cam with wires leading to a receiver somewhere in the pocket would be pretty tough to come up with a plausible explanation for.

Sorry, I guess I was speaking too generally here. I just meant that I would feel weird with that pen in day situations. Even more so at night. I had a button cam that I was going to wear to a strip club once, but the exact same thing you mentioned crossed my mind. Quite often, the girls like to come up from behind, reach around, and dance their fingers over your chest when they approach for a hustle. I can see it now, “Hey there, hun… would you like a-- wait! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!!” :o

But for going out during the day at coffee shops, bookstores, etc., a button cam would be perfect. Just my opinion, of course.

I agree, the button cam ought to be great in daytime use. Might buy one if one crosses my path at the right price but for now this was what I found. For club, especially strip club, use I reckon there just is no device that doesn’t involve huge risks.

One more thing about the pen: Who’s gonna give an A314 soaked guy grief about his choice of pen?

I put the pen in my shirt pocket while wearing my welding gear and even then I really don’t think it looks so special that people are gonna react to it. It doesn’t look all that exclusive, cheap pens you get from all kinds of companies as gifts nowadays don’t differ so very much from it.

Am I alone in this belief? What do you others who have this kind of thing think? Does it stand out like a sore thumb or do you feel comfortable with it?

After all, I could be nuts so I really want to know.

Oh, I received another pen today. I ordered it online but it seemed to be out of stock so I didn’t expect to get one. Very good price, so I’m happy to get it.

This thing connects straight to an USB-port without cable so that’s a huge plus. It’s said to record at 640x480 resolution, which on paper is beaten by the other pen that boasts about full HD. That’s bullshit anyway, I knew those numbers were upscaled and it probably records at the very same resolution. Judging from the videos I have so far, that seems to be about right.

This pen has a black/silver finish contrary to the first that’s black/gold. I think the new one suits my style better. Will see how it works.

EDIT: The new one has a whopping 16 GB of memory, which will make it absolutely perfect for music for my car stereo as well. That provides a nice explanation for carrying such a pen should anyone ask. No need to mention the cam, I’ll just say it’s for music storage.

I’ve used this spy cam a few times now and I’m getting a little worried. Worried that the mones work too well.

Women can be pretty stealthy when they are interested and look at you, and I’ve now seen things I had absolutely no clue were going on. Some girls keep sneaking a peak, then blush and stare down on the floor/into the table as if they were terribly intimidated - although it’s obvious I couldn’t have noticed that they ever looked. Then they look again and again and start doing all the hair things and what not.

The way I’ve found that women behave around me when I can’t see them leads me to believe they MUST feel something is amiss, that there’s something strange about me. I wouldn’t want anyone to feel it’s obvious that I’m enhanced in some way, so to speak. But looking at this stuff, it seems clear they must feel it. I don’t dress too well and while I have been told I look good, I’m no Johnny Depp.

On the other hand - fuck it. They’ll never know what it is about me for certain and I’ll never admit, never tell.

What was the recording length of the last pen if you may?

God bless

Joe

Not sure what you mean. The maximum length I can record without recharging the battery? I think both pens have about the same battery capacity, around an hour according to the specs.
I’ve shot about 40 minutes at most so far.

My one, you get about 2 hours of recording time. It’s also a pen (lol), comes complete with 3x spare refills. I’ve never really seen how many images you can get with the still camera option. You’re not limited to what you can transfer onto the pen either. You could add mp3/office files for carrying A to B, but lets face it, it’s a point and shoot device, then stick into a USB drive to view the content.

Video and audio is pretty clear.
