Sacre Merde! Clive Christian

Clive Christian - No 1 for Men Pure Perfume - Saks.com

Okay, I realize the bulk of the mint they’re asking for this is for the over-the-top bottle, but CC fragrances themselves are not cheap. Has anyone tried any of them? I’m just curious if they’re worth it. I mean, if I’m spending $800-$1000 for just the cologne, I want it to suck my dick, wash my clothes and dishes and change the oil in the car all while recreating the execution/orgy scene in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer everywhere I go.

I’ll let you in on a secret.

Clive Christian is an over-rated egoist. Although I have not contributed my hard-earned dollars to him by buying his overpriced perfumes, persons whose opinions I respect think his perfumes are middle-of-the-line as far as scent composition. Some of the bottles are nice though.

He bought out Crown Perfumery. Crown was a great company that had resurected many of the older classic English perfume formulations. Mr. Christian discontinued all the old classics when he bought them out.

Now the secret, for both guys and gals. Many of the old Crown scents are still available at very reasonable prices on E-bay. They are of a quality exceeding Clive Christians’. He’s riding on the old Crown Perfumery quality and infrastructure. The old Crown scents hit the market every now and then so you never know quite what you’ll find. After a few years of collecting them I think I have them all, and quite a stock of my favorites.

Men’s Crown Perfumery scents are in the green boxes, women’s scents are in the white boxes.

like GOTW said it not all that…I have sampled all of the Clive line at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC on 5th ave, and none of them were even worth $50 IMO

I have learned a big secret when it comes to perfumes especially in the niche market just because it is priced expensive does not necessarily make it great and vice versa

Interesting. I had a little pet theory that packaging the No. 1 in a lead crystal vial with the gold and diamond accents had to be some sort of compensation for something. Makes sense now. LOL

denec is exactly right about CChristian.
I have X & it’s just ok - nothing special. The guy’s claim to fame is kitchen ‘furniture’ and sticking a chandelier in the kitchen for grins I suppose.

I’ve adopted NEVER buying anything until it’s been sampled for at least 24 - 48 hours regardless of the cost. .02
