Sex. Tantra. Olfactive Sensitivity. Women's Cycles. Pheromones. Vanilla. Facts

Facts.

Facts make you sound smart.

Sounding smart gets you laid.

…Laid at least by the nerd girls who like tantric sex. Who wants to hump a lump bump when you can be upside down wrecking a girl who is a playful co-conspirator in creating spiritual, sexual nirvana with you in a euphoric tangle of limbs?

Yep, me neither…

In this case, we thought you’d like to know some facts.

  1. Women are more sensitive to odors, pheromones included, mid menstrual cycle.

  1. Vanilla relieves depression-like symptoms in rats.

Yep. We’d like to focus on business articles too. But like most college students, Academia’s mind is in the gutter most times when it comes to smell studies. At least sex improves your ability to focus, for now. As the seasonal war on happiness wages on, I think I will be buying some vanilla scented candles.

What’s your take on all of this? Have you seen Aromatherapy work for you? Think we should start offering more Vanilla stuff? What other scents do you think we should look into along these lines?

Your thread title looks like the subject line of a virus-ridden email!

Fact #1 makes a lot of sense. For whatever biologically backward reason, I happen to be among my most sexually ravenous mid-menstruation.

Geranium, please! One of my favorite scents! It’s an aromatherapy staple for creating feelings of happiness, and also relieving PMS symptoms.

I would say that girls mostly like sweet candy smells. Maybe try that one? “As sweet as candy” Also, the neroli seems to be preferred over all the other types that I used. Note, not maple syrup, that one actually gives out the smell of disease.

EDIT: Another one that I would love to think about is the baby smell. How does that actually smell, and how do woman react to that?

My question is are you a qualified, certified and insured girl to speak on this matter? You are making a blanket statement for 3.5 billion people! Watch it! :stuck_out_tongue: Can you try to be more specific? If I ask the scent designer to make me some candy scent he will look at me like a crazy person.

I think you should probably check up on the last thing first, as in previous experiments have shown results, but only with new mothers, not all women. Hormones are potentially coming into play here when they took a batch of new mothers and a batch of women who had never had children, and had them smell the scent of a newborn off their PJ’s while sitting in a brain scanner.

Although there are still a lot of questions involved, namely what causes the response. Is it hormonal? Or is it just experience?

Diabetics smell like maple syrup. Urologists can typically guess which pee samples are from diabetic donors by that scent marker alone.

Gourmand foodie fragrances have been THE RAGE since 2004 or thereabouts. Dr. Alan Hirsch did a few studies on which smells are more arousing. It’s old news now. They were all food smells. Cinnamon rolls, donuts, pumpkin pie. Increased penile blood flow. And subsequently, that’s why you see --er-- smell – the explosion in foodie fragrances. Even things that claim smell like flowers have a larger percentage caramel notes by weight. Its what smells..er.. sells these days.

Note: Sorry; time crunched; otherwise I would have cited my sources

I realized about the maple syrup after I looked it up. Reason why I am putting it here is because every time I get into the parfume store, I get a weird feeling of being in some sort of female candy store… It smells… Very sweet, and actually makes me dizzy. I can stand for hours in a flower store, but I rather avoid the parfume stores. I did notice a lot of girls actually prefer the Neroli smell over all the other fragrances (usually it goes like this: smell this and this, and tell me which one smells better), and I do know that my girlfriend likes a parfume that smells quite similar. When asked, I always get a reply of a very “sweet” smell, which is something that I connect with sugar. So no, I may not be speaking for all girls, but I am purely suggesting something based on what girls actually tell me. Its similar to smelling leather in a car. Even though there is no actual leather in the car at all, just that smell alone will make people feel like its a very expensive car.

To keep back on the smell of sweet things, what about peach or roses? One other thing I was thinking about was the japanese cherry blossom. I gotta say, I am giving here a completely unbiassed honest opinion here, you guys are the experts on this and I am just the dumb guy rambling about new smells

I don’t like candy smells. Chocolatini is my least favorite of the AD women’s fragrances. Neroli is my fave.

Caramel notes though…as long as it’s not the primary goal. I just don’t want to smell fattening.

If any company ever tried to come up with a “baby” fragrance, you couldn’t pay me enough to touch it. I’d rather throw garlic at it and run far, far away.

I didn’t want to do it. I can’t stand hearing blanket statements, individuals, regardless of gender are just that, individuals.

/me goes away to stand in the corner…

Don’t go away! Your observations are valid!

Well this took a turn for the worse. I’m going to pull this out and we’ll repost it later in some other form.

Cool facts, just needs a re-think.

mrseeker, ms dragon, you’re both ever awesome and I really enjoy both your posts throughout the forum.

@Nick

Came off as an ad hominem attack. I know it wasn’t your intention but this was the result.

Julius is a pretty awesome guy; I wouldn’t want him to feel less than comfortable here.

So let’s converse about the right way to drop this post. Between the spammy headline and the discourse it just didn’t hit the mark.
