So I am sitting here ...............

…in the middle of the night because I cant sleep. I have never been a good sleeper. 4 or 5 hours seems to be all I can manage. I’m just not tired. Its so quiet in the house in the middle of the night when the world is still and unmoving. I dont want to waste it sleeping LOL

Anyways I am sitting here with my cats arch (short for archimedes) and Aura. They usually sleep while I diddle around on my computer. My husband installed a cat door for them on the back door of the house so they can go in and out whenever they like. I told him its not a good ideal but he said he is sick of getting up to let them in and out.

Well…It seems we have a problem now. All week they have been gifting me with chipmunks. Not dead ones, live ones. They come romping in all happy and proud and drop them at my feet and of course the terrified chipmunks take off running. 6 of them just this week. We spend hours trying to catch them and get them back outside only because my husband screams like a girl when he see’s them which just makes them run all the more. This from the Alpha man of the house LOL :stuck_out_tongue: He would rather face a gang of thugs for hand to hand combat then deal with a chipmunk in the house. I have to admit even though I am not scared of them there is just something about them being inside that freaks you out a little.

So I am sitting here in the middle of the night time silence and I am hearing scampering. Twice I told the cats to knock it off and it stopped then I just heard it again and turned around to say it again and there are my two cats lying on the table behind me fast asleep. Ut-oh :open_mouth:. So I got up turned on the lights and low in behold there are two big fat live chipmunks sitting right on the kitchen floor.

They are kinda cute. So I just opened up the back door and told them its time to go and they looked up at me as if to say “Thanks lady” and scampered outside.

I cant wait till they start bringing in the snakes and frogs LOL My husband is gonna faint. He’s a city boy. At least they will be easier to catch when he screams like a girl and jumps on the table.

Gotta love the man

I never had cats, but my friends that did told me similar stories. One had a cat that would somehow pop the heads off squirrels and drop them on his chest while he was sleeping. My other friend said her cat loved to suprise her with the live palmetto bugs it would catch. My dog thankfully has never brought me anything alive or dead.

Melatonin usually helps me with my sleep when i´m nervous or something.
Between 1 and 2 mg do the trick 9.5 times out of 10.

I don´t know anything about cats though… I guess it´s a way of showing you respect.

Talk to you soon.

Xtraball.

Buy a bottle of lavender oil and put a few drops on your pillow. It’s strong so only a few drops are needed.

I’ve been using it to get to sleep recently and it works very well.

After 10 or so minutes you notice yourself getting tired and should eventually get to sleep.

Hmm - Chipmunks. Lucky.

My two cats are currently doing their best to introduce a cheeky young male cat to the household.
And I’m not having it. The bloody mog is scenting everywhere!
