Storing To Go bottles + more?

Today wasn’t a test day, but I just wanted to make a note about storing To Go bottles. I actually forgot that I left my already-half full bottle of IS in the car. It was super hot today and I left it laying on its side. When I checked this, It seems to have leaked and evaporated - Now, I only have 1/4 of IS left. Urrg! I’m really sad about it, but will buy IS or TAA soon

So just so you guys know, always keep your bottles in an upright position, and away from heat! It seems like the heat contributed to the leak. It evaporated enough to rise out of the bottle and on to the cap. It was wet when I touched it. Even when shaking the bottle, it didn’t cause it to leak. Just a little tip for storing To Go bottles.

(This post became more of a general information post - removed reaction from spilled IS lol)

Do any of you have trouble with To Go bottles? I’m not sure if it’s just my bottles, but my IJ leaked a bit too when laying on its side. Hmmm..

Laying bottles on their side has been an issue for me as well but some togo bottles I have do not leak at all.

I Made a Small Case to Hold my ToGo’s in… Basically a Small Cardboard Box with a 1 Inch Think piece of Packing Foam in it… I Cut afew 1/2 Inch Holes in it… One for Each ToGo Bottle… The Never Fall Over Now and Never had a Leak Issue… The ToGo Bottles also Fit Snuggly into the Molle Straps on My BailOut Bag…

Maybe it’s just defected bottles I guess? :o

Woah, that’s pretty handy. That’s genius!!

Lost pretty much a whole bottle of mx297 because of a hot car and leaving it on it’s side :frowning:

Oh no! Well, I guess this would be a learning experience for all of us. How long did you leave it for? Should we let AD know? Maybe it’s the bottle design? - they are very appealing and slick looking, but there comes the leaking part :open_mouth:

I’ve had the same problem when putting to go bottles in my pocket. I like to take a couple just in case I want to reapply later at a party. More often that not they evaporate a bit from the heat of my leg D:

I usually wear casual shirts with pockets on each chest, nobody has ever noticed just as long as you take them out before suddenly getting intimate :stuck_out_tongue:

My car just gets roasting hot sometimes. Think it may have damaged the bottle. Doesn’t seem to close well anymore, then again not sure if it did before  Lost a To Go of IO / IH mix the same day in the same way. I blame myself for not thinking ahead, stupid weather, damn La Nina!!

That’s a good plan! Although, I often hug my female friends a lot when we say bye to eachother. But, I need to create some holding device for these things. I usually just keep it in my pen holders in my bag. hahaha

Ouch!! That must’ve hurt even more! At least now you know. I live in a hot place too. I wish I lived in the cold so I could test my mones without worrying about it evaporating..lol

My 3 togo bottles were ok except for my ammo . I had a hard time telling which of my bottles was leaking before I figured it out yesterday when I had ammo in my pocket and then I started to smell the scent . I shook all my bottles today to see how much is left and the ammo looks like its almost completely out .:frowning: . Maybe I have 10 sprays left . It’s ok when standing upright but when its in your pocket or laying on the side it will leak

Keep your bottles upright . !

Yeah looks like I lost 1/2 a bottle of IS this same way, left it in the car on its side. Oh well, at least now I know. At the bar, I usually slip the to-go bottle in the small pocket on the front right of my jeans and it fits in there perfect and upright, no leakage problems.

Even upright I would expect the bottles to leak. A half full togo contains 50% gas. Gas is very expansive when heated and the inability for the gas to expand due to confinement would increase the pressure in the togo’s. Could be 2-4 times atmosphere depending on the temperature. That being said, I can see the liquid escaping through the spray nozel.

Gas Requires Heat to Expand, and it Compresses when Cooled… Also Ever Pump of the Sprayer Decreases that Pressure by about 1/40 the ToGo’s Non-Pressurized Volume… Since there are about 40 Sprays per ToGo Bottle… So Heat is Seems would be the Major Issue for Leaks… That and If Stored on it’s Side…

In the End, Store them Upright and Try to Maintain a Cool Temp Where Stored…

Another important fact. How hot do we think the liquid gets in a car in the sun sitting on a dark colour. Water will turn to gas at 100 degrees celcious at sea level. Alcohol will boil at 70 degrees. If temp exceeds 70 the expanding gasses and increased energized molecules will cause a pressure that the little bottle will have to equalize. The pocket will be fine. And a test for you. Put some rubbing alchohol in a Togo and place some Kleenex over the spout and put the cap on. Get some water close to boing and drop it in for two mins you will find the Kleenex wet. Moral of the story. If you live in a cold climate like me and like to have some hot spiced wine after skiing. Don’t let it go to a boil because he poor little diffusive high energy alcohol molecule will be long bone.

As our friend PDK mentioned. When you pump a spray there will be a decrease in pressure inside any bottle. When you spray do you find the second spray s
To contain more liquid that the first? Perhaps the 3 sprays the night before depressurized the cylinder and caused some air to get sucked back in. Food for thought.

Thank you all of the feedback! It sucks that there are so many leaks - all of which that can get very technical when handling too..lol

Not sure, but has anyone had any problems with the 30mL bottles?
