Subliminals? Have you used them and are they worth the money?

I have been reading posts on the forum here and there about the use of subliminals. I did a bit of research, and I am beyond surprised at the amount of different catagories of cd’s/downloads you can get. I’m a bit skeptical, so my questions are, have you used them? Have you benefited from them? Are they worth the $? I’d love to hear what you all have to say about them.

catlord has a store for subliminals: Ultrasonic Subliminals - Home

I have not used his as of yet, but I have used some others and they do tend to work.

I was also curious about this…is it like hypnosis tapes?

I read a lot of studies about this issue and most of them claim this is fake. But brainwaves seem to work, that’s what other studies tell.

I’m trying one right now it’s been a week so I can’t tell much. Since it’s just the beginning… However, I’ll tell you in another 2 weeks!

I have used these: HiChi CDs - 5D Sound - Oxygen Research Institute

I actually ordered mine from a different website, which I can no longer find.

Anyway, these HighChi 5D Sound products actually seem to work. I was pleasantly surprised. I need to get back to listening to the Prosperity/Abundance CD before this economy destroys my lifestyle.

I haven’t tried Catlord’s products (yet), so I can’t comment.

I downloaded a free ultrasonic sample from catlords website a week ago. I use it since every night… let’s see what happens…

apparently I have a wide hearing range cause i can hear the ultrasound… does somebody else hear the same???

I’m trying it too…but I don’ hear the ultrasounds (what type are you listening to though? There is the “silent one” and the “ocean waves” one)

I chose the ocean waves and I could hear some mumbling/whispering in the background. I find that it’s difficult going to sleep with this on…I tried though!

No, I’m listening to the “silent” one. But I still hear a very high sound.

I’ve used Catlord’s subliminals and brainwaves (the bi-neural I think they are called). I had a great experience with hyper-sleep, but have had the need to use it twice. It did exactly what it says it does and was an incredible aid during finals.

I can’t say I got too much out of the lucid dream sleeping aid, but I still have a long way to go in achieving this skill and I used the program when I still did not know much about lucid dreaming so I can’t exactly blame the program.

I also own a few of his subliminals and frankly I feel they are definitely working on some level. The ones I’ve used aren’t exactly programs to create the most drastic of changes (right now I’m using "boost your self-confidence, free on his website) so it is a subtle change, but one I can definitely feel. I began with them a bit skeptical, like I did with pheromones, but open and I’m trying to not be biased when seeing the changes.
However, there’s been a change in attitude I have felt since using a some of his subliminals. I feel more together, calm, cool, and collected when dealing with situations I used to be still nervous in. My body language has changed for the better in a pretty noticible way, and my voice has stopped showing the nervoussness I used to hate. A lot of my friends have said comments about this kind of stuff as well.

I’m not saying it’s the subliminals did this change by themselves, but they have proven to be a great aid. At least that’s how I feel.

I would like to know more about scientific studies since I’ve heard both that studies do not support subliminals, while i’ve seen studies that do. Maybe Catlord can explain things better and I trust he will be as unbiased as possible.

Studies don’t always use the same technology or procedures that are optimal, often they are very simplistic, when studies are small and usually independent. Not saying that all independent studies are like this, but having worked on a few I can say that some studies need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Oh by the way, try lowering the volume a bit, you will definitely not hear the voice anymore. I used to hear it when I wore headphones, but I just lowered the volume and the voice disappeared. I can also hear the high pitch on the silent ones, but if you put it at a good volume, your ear gets used to it very fast and it becomes a lot less noticible. When I wake up in the morning I have to listen to see if it is still on.

curious though, but aren’t we supposed to hear the “mumbling”? isn’t that the point of the whole thing?

Subliminals are a very complex subject. That is the primary reason why you get studies that say they work and studies that say they don’t. Properly testing a subliminal scientifically is a mind-bendingly complex task because of the ridiculous amount of variables present. (Although if anyone has the resources/connections/funding, I would dearly love to do a double blind study of my own designing.)

Subliminals work when the variables do not prevent them from working. They have to be made properly; they have to be used properly. But they also have to be expected to work slowly, gradually and subtlely in most cases, because they bypass the conscious mind completely. Pure subliminals like mine work only with the subconscious mind, and that makes them very slow compared to, say, hypnosis, because during hypnosis, the conscious mind acts as a magnifier and translator for the subconscious mind.

So while hypnosis works faster, subliminals can be more long lasting because they don’t force you to use them consciously. My business partner uses hypnosis products, but he prefers subliminals because listening to the same thing all the time gets old. Which is why I started working with the “silent” ultrasonics. They’re not silent, of course, but instead, they are higher pitched than most people can hear - or, put another way, they are focused at a pitch that most people are not focused in on and it becomes very easy to ignore. The specifics will depend on your age.

The subject of subliminals is vastly more complex than most people realize. Basically, for a subliminal to produce visible results 100% of the time, you would need all of the following to be true:

  1. Properly made.
  2. Used enough to produce the results.
  3. Self awareness enough to see/notice the results. (They usually are gradual and subtle; easier to look back and see them, than to notice them in the process.)
  4. Subject that can work. Not all subjects will work for everyone, based on age, etc. For instance, some forms of snoring don’t respond to the stop snoring subliminal. Some forms of hair loss don’t respond to the hair re-growth sub. etc. (That’s why we have a refund policy. We can’t know if it’s going to work for everyone, we can only do our best to make it work as best possible.)
  5. Not resisting them. You can definitely resist subliminals, if you try hard enough.

The truth is, subliminals do work. It’s also true that you cannot say that there is a black and white situation. My best friend is a good example of this. He refuses to use subliminals, because he doesn’t trust them. He harbors a deep fear of being out of control of himself, and so he resists them in every way he can: first layer of defense, don’t use it properly (or at all, in this case). Even if he was to be subjected to them without his conscious knowledge, there is a good chance that he would still resist them, because subconsciously, his “program” says, “Resist all outside influeces we have not consciously accepted.”

He will get little to no results from any subliminals, in all likelyhood.

Consider someone else I know, who wanted to lose weight - consciously. She used my weight loss subliminal, and she used it 24/7 for months. The result? She immediately began a yo-yo effect. lose 5 pounds, gain 5 pounds, lose 10, gain 10, etc. Why? Well because the subliminal was unable to account for some of her unique pre-existing “programming” that was keeping her at the weight at which she found herself unhappy. Consciously, she wanted nothing more than to be something other than obese; subconsciously, she was a “perfect storm” of weight gain. She was almost completely emotional in her thinking style and awareness; she was very resistant to change; and she had programming that said “I am going to resist people by gaining weight, and the more they hurt my feelngs, the more weight I will gain as my way of telling them to screw off and protect myself from them.” Resistance. She at some level believed that losing weight was going to make her vulnerable to others, and therefore resisted it with all her strength - which was rather considerable. Consequently, she was unable to get the results the program was designed for. On the flip side of the coin, we all knew it was working, because of the sudden yo-yo effect, which had not been there before. She also made absolutely zero effort to “help herself” in the form of increasing her energy expenditure and/or decreasing her caloric intake.

I have seen many times more success stories than I have seen failures. Thousands of people have purchased my subs. Returns and refund are very rare, but they do happen. That’s okay. There’s no such thing as perfect. I cannot know the personal program running in every person’s subconscious mind, and neither I nor anyone else could hope to make a subliminal script that affected 100% of he population. There are just some circumstances that are incompatible. The best anyone can do is to know the subject as well as possible and try their best.

We have four free full version subliminals available because we want people to try them and decide they like the results before they give us their money. That is not something we have seen many other subliminal companies do. We do it because we want people to understand that we have confidence in our products, and because we want people to be able to see for themselves if they like what we offer and get results before they commit money. It saves them hassle and expense, and it saves us hassle and expense. Subliminals are not a panacea, and they will not produce expected results when the expectations do not match the reality.

The reality is, there are a lot of variables that are difficult to predict or account for. I have become a master of “directionalized abstraction” in order to script my subs to handle these things, but it will never be that everyone gets perfect results all the time.

One thing I have learned is that hypnosis benefits from the aid of the conscious mind; being able to consciously hear the “script” magnifies the impact significantly, as long as the conscious mind accepts it. This makes for a much more rapid and therefore obvious effect. Subliminals - especially “pure” subliminals, such as what I sell, do not; they completely bypass the conscious mind. The subconscious works very differently, and without the conscious mind’s help, it relies on simple repetition to build up enough impact to produce an effect. I don’t use consciously audible vocals because this tends to distract from the “set and forget” I am aiming for. Some companies use them. They work well. Just not what I was aiming for: maximum ease of use and safety.

Whenever you have a very complex situation, and you attempt to understand it as less complex, it will inevitably become distorted. A good example of this is graphics. Take a picture the size of a postage stamp and re-size it without any interpolation, and you’ll get huge blocks of colors that are horrid to look at. You have to increase the distance from the image to make it proportional to the previous perspective before it looks good again. Likewise, taking a very complex subject and attempting to impose simple black and white “it works or it doesn’t” logic on it will produce 50% saying it does, and 50% saying it doesn’t, and a lot of confused onlookers. That’s what has happened with subliminals.

In actuality, subliminals produce different rates of success depending on the subject and technologies used. The level of perceived success is also potentially different than the actual success in many cases, because people are either expecting instant results or they are not self aware enough to see the more gradual effects. We see this with pheromones as well. The vast majority of us here see that they obviously work, but yet people go away every day thinking they don’t, because they didn’t use them right, had unrealistic expectations, etc. etc. etc.

Subliminals come in different types. Different types have different technologies and different rates of result. Type A subliminals trigger a direct brainstem response, and they can be seen to work in as little as 5 minutes. But most people see the results in 20-30 minutes… and some people need 8 hours. Others don’t see results at all! This can be lack of awareness of surrounding, or it can be that the circumstances aren’t right. That doesn’t mean they don’t work.

Type B subliminals usually take 2-4 weeks to produce sufficient results for the average person to notice them. About 90% of people fall in this range. Some people see results in 2-7 days - typically about 5%. Some people need 2-3 months - about 1%. Some people never see results - about 1%. That doesn’t mean they don’t work! (These are rough estimates based on my observations, not calculated statistics.)

I appear to be rambling, but I’ll answer your questions here.

MsSelva, the mumbling you hear from the ocean surf masked subliminal is likely because you’re using it with headphones. To make masked subliminals work for people who use them without headphones, I have to find a balance between the perfect volumes for speaker users and headphone users. Therefore, you will hear some mumbling with headphones, and in some cases, you may hear some with speakers too. That’s just proof that they really do have subliminal information. But technically, you’re not supposed to hear that… it’s just a matter of how well you want it to work. I favor having it work better than having it be less detectable.

If you could consciously hear them, it would be a “paraliminal” or “beta-liminal”. (“Beta-liminals” is just a fancy made up term for “repetitious recorded normal speech.”)

Silent subliminals are not silent, they are simply shifted up to a pitch we don’t usually listen for. As you get older you typically lose the ability to hear higher pitches, too. If the subliminal is irritating to you, you can safely lower the volume until you cannot hear it anymore at the average distance from your speakers and it should still work.

Anyone have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I get a little long winded without a specific question to answer. And bear in mind that I of course am in a bit of a catch-22 with the advertising aspect… I don’t want to advertise here, but I also can’t answer questions without answering questions. I also don’t deal much with my competitors, but they do exist. lol

Fantastic explanation

what are subliminals? i never heard of this.

Phrases, which may help you with specific problems, that are recorded on a CD, but you can’t hear them, so your conscious mind won’t filter them and your unconscious should then soak it up.

That’s a very short explanation, read catlords post to know more!

But somehow I still doubt the effectiveness.
The conscious mind filters out everything that is unimportant, it even filters colors and such ultrasonic sounds. Do you know that dude that took LSD to open his filter gates (and wrote a book about it)? He suddenly saw more colors and things like that… That means that our unconscious mind doesn’t even get the “unimportant” things in first line, because our filter filters it out.

thank you. maybe ill look into it.

Holy crap, thank you for the explanation catlord!

From my understanding Subliminals don’t pass through the conscious mind, into the subconscious - they’re simply fed straight to the subconscious. If we where consciously aware of the subliminal messages, they would be ‘affirmations’. I’ve tried both Affirmations and Subliminals, and Subliminals are by far the more effective method of change. Luckily, they are also a hell of a lot easier to ‘use’.

Myself, Catlord and Lor had a small discussion about Subliminals in my journal, but I wasn’t aware that so many other members on this forum use them. Frankly, I shouldn’t be surprised, it’s exactly those who had an enthusiasm to try pheromones - without knowing if they work or not - who will benefit and see results from Subliminals.

I see threads in the Men’s section with titles like: “WOW great first time experience”, it’s great that some people get instant success with pheromones, but for myself and others it wasn’t instant. It took a little bit of blind faith and experimentation before I started to see results. Scepticism is fine and healthy, but having an open mind, a willingness to try (and not give up straight away) new things is far more important in my opinion. The same kind of blind faith can apply to Subliminals as well, only they require much less work to use than Pheromones. After the initial purchase, all that is required is to remember to press play before you go to bed at night, and to press stop when you wake up in the morning. It becomes as routine as brushing your teeth.

I’ve purchased subliminals from both Catlords online store and another great company called “real Subliminal”, both companies have great, affordable products. I would encourage anyone sitting on the fence about whether or not to purchase a subliminal to do so. In my experience they do slowly change paradigms and the investment in the long run is definitely worth it.
