Subliminals are a very complex subject. That is the primary reason why you get studies that say they work and studies that say they don’t. Properly testing a subliminal scientifically is a mind-bendingly complex task because of the ridiculous amount of variables present. (Although if anyone has the resources/connections/funding, I would dearly love to do a double blind study of my own designing.)
Subliminals work when the variables do not prevent them from working. They have to be made properly; they have to be used properly. But they also have to be expected to work slowly, gradually and subtlely in most cases, because they bypass the conscious mind completely. Pure subliminals like mine work only with the subconscious mind, and that makes them very slow compared to, say, hypnosis, because during hypnosis, the conscious mind acts as a magnifier and translator for the subconscious mind.
So while hypnosis works faster, subliminals can be more long lasting because they don’t force you to use them consciously. My business partner uses hypnosis products, but he prefers subliminals because listening to the same thing all the time gets old. Which is why I started working with the “silent” ultrasonics. They’re not silent, of course, but instead, they are higher pitched than most people can hear - or, put another way, they are focused at a pitch that most people are not focused in on and it becomes very easy to ignore. The specifics will depend on your age.
The subject of subliminals is vastly more complex than most people realize. Basically, for a subliminal to produce visible results 100% of the time, you would need all of the following to be true:
- Properly made.
- Used enough to produce the results.
- Self awareness enough to see/notice the results. (They usually are gradual and subtle; easier to look back and see them, than to notice them in the process.)
- Subject that can work. Not all subjects will work for everyone, based on age, etc. For instance, some forms of snoring don’t respond to the stop snoring subliminal. Some forms of hair loss don’t respond to the hair re-growth sub. etc. (That’s why we have a refund policy. We can’t know if it’s going to work for everyone, we can only do our best to make it work as best possible.)
- Not resisting them. You can definitely resist subliminals, if you try hard enough.
The truth is, subliminals do work. It’s also true that you cannot say that there is a black and white situation. My best friend is a good example of this. He refuses to use subliminals, because he doesn’t trust them. He harbors a deep fear of being out of control of himself, and so he resists them in every way he can: first layer of defense, don’t use it properly (or at all, in this case). Even if he was to be subjected to them without his conscious knowledge, there is a good chance that he would still resist them, because subconsciously, his “program” says, “Resist all outside influeces we have not consciously accepted.”
He will get little to no results from any subliminals, in all likelyhood.
Consider someone else I know, who wanted to lose weight - consciously. She used my weight loss subliminal, and she used it 24/7 for months. The result? She immediately began a yo-yo effect. lose 5 pounds, gain 5 pounds, lose 10, gain 10, etc. Why? Well because the subliminal was unable to account for some of her unique pre-existing “programming” that was keeping her at the weight at which she found herself unhappy. Consciously, she wanted nothing more than to be something other than obese; subconsciously, she was a “perfect storm” of weight gain. She was almost completely emotional in her thinking style and awareness; she was very resistant to change; and she had programming that said “I am going to resist people by gaining weight, and the more they hurt my feelngs, the more weight I will gain as my way of telling them to screw off and protect myself from them.” Resistance. She at some level believed that losing weight was going to make her vulnerable to others, and therefore resisted it with all her strength - which was rather considerable. Consequently, she was unable to get the results the program was designed for. On the flip side of the coin, we all knew it was working, because of the sudden yo-yo effect, which had not been there before. She also made absolutely zero effort to “help herself” in the form of increasing her energy expenditure and/or decreasing her caloric intake.
I have seen many times more success stories than I have seen failures. Thousands of people have purchased my subs. Returns and refund are very rare, but they do happen. That’s okay. There’s no such thing as perfect. I cannot know the personal program running in every person’s subconscious mind, and neither I nor anyone else could hope to make a subliminal script that affected 100% of he population. There are just some circumstances that are incompatible. The best anyone can do is to know the subject as well as possible and try their best.
We have four free full version subliminals available because we want people to try them and decide they like the results before they give us their money. That is not something we have seen many other subliminal companies do. We do it because we want people to understand that we have confidence in our products, and because we want people to be able to see for themselves if they like what we offer and get results before they commit money. It saves them hassle and expense, and it saves us hassle and expense. Subliminals are not a panacea, and they will not produce expected results when the expectations do not match the reality.
The reality is, there are a lot of variables that are difficult to predict or account for. I have become a master of “directionalized abstraction” in order to script my subs to handle these things, but it will never be that everyone gets perfect results all the time.
One thing I have learned is that hypnosis benefits from the aid of the conscious mind; being able to consciously hear the “script” magnifies the impact significantly, as long as the conscious mind accepts it. This makes for a much more rapid and therefore obvious effect. Subliminals - especially “pure” subliminals, such as what I sell, do not; they completely bypass the conscious mind. The subconscious works very differently, and without the conscious mind’s help, it relies on simple repetition to build up enough impact to produce an effect. I don’t use consciously audible vocals because this tends to distract from the “set and forget” I am aiming for. Some companies use them. They work well. Just not what I was aiming for: maximum ease of use and safety.
Whenever you have a very complex situation, and you attempt to understand it as less complex, it will inevitably become distorted. A good example of this is graphics. Take a picture the size of a postage stamp and re-size it without any interpolation, and you’ll get huge blocks of colors that are horrid to look at. You have to increase the distance from the image to make it proportional to the previous perspective before it looks good again. Likewise, taking a very complex subject and attempting to impose simple black and white “it works or it doesn’t” logic on it will produce 50% saying it does, and 50% saying it doesn’t, and a lot of confused onlookers. That’s what has happened with subliminals.
In actuality, subliminals produce different rates of success depending on the subject and technologies used. The level of perceived success is also potentially different than the actual success in many cases, because people are either expecting instant results or they are not self aware enough to see the more gradual effects. We see this with pheromones as well. The vast majority of us here see that they obviously work, but yet people go away every day thinking they don’t, because they didn’t use them right, had unrealistic expectations, etc. etc. etc.
Subliminals come in different types. Different types have different technologies and different rates of result. Type A subliminals trigger a direct brainstem response, and they can be seen to work in as little as 5 minutes. But most people see the results in 20-30 minutes… and some people need 8 hours. Others don’t see results at all! This can be lack of awareness of surrounding, or it can be that the circumstances aren’t right. That doesn’t mean they don’t work.
Type B subliminals usually take 2-4 weeks to produce sufficient results for the average person to notice them. About 90% of people fall in this range. Some people see results in 2-7 days - typically about 5%. Some people need 2-3 months - about 1%. Some people never see results - about 1%. That doesn’t mean they don’t work! (These are rough estimates based on my observations, not calculated statistics.)
I appear to be rambling, but I’ll answer your questions here.
MsSelva, the mumbling you hear from the ocean surf masked subliminal is likely because you’re using it with headphones. To make masked subliminals work for people who use them without headphones, I have to find a balance between the perfect volumes for speaker users and headphone users. Therefore, you will hear some mumbling with headphones, and in some cases, you may hear some with speakers too. That’s just proof that they really do have subliminal information. But technically, you’re not supposed to hear that… it’s just a matter of how well you want it to work. I favor having it work better than having it be less detectable.
If you could consciously hear them, it would be a “paraliminal” or “beta-liminal”. (“Beta-liminals” is just a fancy made up term for “repetitious recorded normal speech.”)
Silent subliminals are not silent, they are simply shifted up to a pitch we don’t usually listen for. As you get older you typically lose the ability to hear higher pitches, too. If the subliminal is irritating to you, you can safely lower the volume until you cannot hear it anymore at the average distance from your speakers and it should still work.
Anyone have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I get a little long winded without a specific question to answer.
And bear in mind that I of course am in a bit of a catch-22 with the advertising aspect… I don’t want to advertise here, but I also can’t answer questions without answering questions. I also don’t deal much with my competitors, but they do exist. lol
