((( Tisha ))) I know you’ve been having a rough time with things lately. I love ya girl. I’m so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

OK…sigh. My turn.
The new look of the forum is acceptable. I can get used to that. It’s true the updated look separates us from the standard look of most forums, and that’s good. I guess I misunderstood Jasmin when she said that the Old 3.6.5 Style would still be available, it just wouldn’t have all the feature/functions of 2.0. Now I see we’re locked into 2.0 with no option for a different format. So be it. As far as the other “improvements”, I must say I agree with Tisha, my darling cowboy, Warren, and the irascible maestro, they are mostly just distracting from our primary purpose here.
The Thanks thing? Oh, Mommy…I feel like I’m in elementary school…and it’s annoying. Encouraging people to say thanks is one thing but thanks should come from the heart, not to prompt or incur rep points. As far as that feature is concerned, it won’t prompt me to behave any differently than I have in the passed. And it’s interesting/strange that there’s a limit on how many thanks you can give/receive. You’re encouraged to give/receive them but only to a point and then it’s too many and you are not permitted to give anymore…lol. As we can see here, it’s already become somewhat of a joke.
I’m trying to play nice, so I went along with the public listing of “Friends”, though I would’ve rather kept it to myself. I know who my friends are and don’t necessarily need/want for others to know who they are. But when someone asks you to be their friend…so I went along and even invited some myself. I hope you understand what I’m saying. I don’t like the aspect that some people might feel left out if they don’t have many friends formally listed. And frankly I would be hard pressed to deny anyone who asked me to be their friend whether I knew them well or not. Maybe I’m too old for this stuff, it just seems silly.
I think the chatroom is here to appease those who’ve been wanting one and it’s one way, in particular, to cater to the younger members here who are used to this kind of thing and find it attractive. Our numbers have more than doubled in the last six months. I’m not enamored of it and don’t see the need, but I suppose it serves a purpose for those who want to quickly ask a question, chat with someone they want to get to know or maybe just play. I feel that the chatroom and clubs take away from the main objective of this forum. I mean we have a lounge already for discussion of anything outside the realm of pheromones. Any “social” or non related subjects can be discussed there. I’m all for socializing, we do plenty of it, who’s more social than me? But I don’t see the need for exclusive clubs that are invite only, it smacks of elitism. When Tisha suggested we start some for the ladies I agreed, but I’ve been rethinking it. We already have the exclusive, must have bought in the last six months and be granted the pass word to enter, A314 club/forum. I thought the A314 forum was already a place for guys to let their hair down away from prying eyes and the repercussions of others. How much more exclusive and separate does it really need to be? These are superfluous things that really add nothing to the original intent of this forum. (Edit: One of the things that drew me to this forum in the first place was, for lack of a better term, all that nonsense.)
The dismissal of the rep power points has, frankly, disturbed me enough to speak out about it. If you don’t care about reps/rep power that’s fine, but I do. I’ve been a loyal, devoted and contributing member at PheroTalk and worked long and hard, almost daily for over a year, accumulating them. And I resent having them simply dismissed. Having them taken away justlikethat sucks. There I said it for all of us Tish! I like watching them grow…I’ve earned them and am proud of my accomplishment…dammbit! I also like watching the rep points of my friends grow ((( Tisha ))), gives me something to aspire to. That’s OK. I’m nothing if not resourceful so I’ve listed mine in my sig and will update it weekly.
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m always open minded and for embracing improvements and I really don’t want to come across as negative about all these new additions. I hate rocking the boat when most others are happy to just paddle along. You know I don’t usually have trouble opening my mouth, but this time it feels different. Even Tisha was holding back her comments, as I’ve been, and I still wouldn’t be speaking out except for the fact that a close friend encouraged me to do so saying if we don’t tell them how we feel they won’t know. So that’s what I’m doing here right now. I also know there are many others who also feel the same way but will never directly speak out, they never do, so it’s up to the rest of us to carry that burden for them as well. Though I do wish they’d grow some stones and help the rest of us out here.
If the powers that be don’t know, by now, how much I love this forum, them and all of you then they’ll never know. I’ve made myself as clear as I can. I don’t mean to be a downer but the truth is I’m not up for a fight. Steve and Jasmin know where they want this ride to go, I just have to decide if I’m getting on the bus or not. Time will tell. Of course, I’ll try to get with the program. I’m excited to see new worthwhile, useful additions to the forum, though I haven’t seen anything that’s really qualified as that yet. My appetite for education and knowledge knows no bounds. I just don’t want it to start feeling like school or work.
My nickle…* Bella runs for cover*.
Oh, and I’d like to thank Jesus. Does he get a point for that?
And did anybody else hear that big THUD!? I think it was coming from the Mad Tater’s Journal…goin’ over there now to check it out…hang on Tate…Bella’s comin’ with first aid…wrapped in bacon!
