be brave ,not cowardly.

honestly, i find the rep points to be very helpful in the way that it “checks me” if i am inappropriate ,and if i am helpful that is also something good to know.

my opinion here is that if someone is going to take the time to slap you on the wrist, why not sign your name or be helpful in the “why”?

Hear hear..

LOL! I know just what you mean Lor.

Apparently, even though I’ve been a doctor for 15 years+, I don’t know what I am talking about and am full of s**t (docked umpteen points in Thomaslavoie’s “Reporting On Instant Shine” thread) - which is lovely to know. ^_~

Those were of course, unsigned. I sign all my rep points - good or bad.

If you have the gall to say something to someone whether positive or negative, you need to have the chutzpah to stand behind it by owning up to it, people.

Ail

I’m surprised that the system is set up to be anonymous. I figured that if I gave rep points, that it would automatically show that the comment came from me. After I realized that it does not automatically show me as the author, I started signing my rep points.

I agree, it’s cowardly to not have the gall to stand up for your opinion. If you have to hide behind anonymity, then you’ve got a problem.

Ail, there you go. like minds.
AKmedic, that is the coolest avatar ever, hahahaha.
that looks like my cat Logan.he floats like that too,lol

Hear, Hear… there are some shady rep point going on around here as of lately! good posts!

Lor, I’d give you rep, but it won’t let me give you anymore

I would think the best thing to do is post a reply to something you like or disagree with publicly.

My opinion.

HEE! I’m glad you like it… I busted up laughing when I first saw it.
I love the kitties! Milan has been literally camped out on my medic bag since I brought it in. He LOVES sitting on it, it’s the new “kitty hotspot” in my house. Whenever he gets up to get a bite to eat or head to the potty, Lennybruce immediately takes his spot. It’s like they think they’re king of the world when they sit on it! So cute.

They’re going to be sad if my radio goes off and I get called out…the kitty who’s sitting on the bag is going to be deposed quickly so Mom can grab the bag and head for the ambulance.

aww thanks. but this shouldnt surprise me, i think we had the same briggs test score, lol :stuck_out_tongue:

can I ask you a question, is your life better or worse off with receiving reputation points? will it change it?

also, does anyone really know why the point system is even in place in a forum like this? there is a very simple obvious reason.

No, but evidently some people derive a lot of pleasure from docking others’ points, which is childish.

You know what? There are some people who are really great on this board, but at the end of the day you’re all just imaginary people on the intarwub. It’s childish to make anonymous swipes at someone. If someone has a problem with me, they’d better man up (or woman up) and tell me about it instead of making passive-aggressive jabs through anonymous “negative rep points”.

Do I care if imaginary people on the internet like my posts? No. Do I care if imaginary people on the internet take away my rep points? No, I don’t, but I think it’s childish if they do so in an anonymous fashion. Man up and stand up instead of hiding.

I’ve tried to rep and put my name on them now, but a lot of the time before I just didn’t think of it.

And Ail – I repped you a couple weeks ago, but had missed your posts on supplements in that one Instant Shine thread, simply because I stopped reading the thread when it first started… and wanted to rep you a hundred times for it – but alas!

Same thing with Lor.

in a nutshell! thank you.

im guessing you didnt read my post, but skimmed through it?

let me help you here.

the thing i like about the sytem being put into place, despite the conspiracy theory, is that i like when someone resonates with something i have said, and i like constructive critism when it is done with the intent of improvement for all,not just selfish motives (like a religion, for instance…).

believe it or not, i have indeed made friends here.

so, when it appears i am crying over spilt milk, its simply an exaggerated interpretation of me just reiterating that mean people suck.

i forgot to ask, can you tell us why this system is in place?
the simple obvious reason has escaped me …

I see where you are coming from, but I see this place as a community of people. There are people here that I would consider friends. Whether or not i’ve met them in person is irrelivent.

It’s nice to have people giving you reputation. It one know that they are apreciated and respected by the people they are associating with. So when somebody takes that reputation away it is like taking away the visual representation of social bonds.

It’s realy not that big of a deal, but if somebody is going to negatively rep you I feel they should give a good explenation or reply with their dissagreance.

OH and androtics had a special where each rep point you had over 10 was worth 1 dolar in the store. So it could possibly be cash credit.

Lor, I never skim read your posts, they erotically charge me.

One use of reputation points is to help newer users figure out the “value” of the other forum members. If I was a newbie just starting out here, and I noticed someone had a fairly high reputation, I might take what they said a bit more seriously than someone with a low rep.

Just an observation and opinion.

Also: I don’t personally always award rep points on a specific post. I usually make a decision to rep over a period of time, and sometimes the “repping” is done on whatever convienient post from the person I may find, not necessarily a specific one. Just me.

.

Lor, do you feel you gain a sense approval when you recieve a positive rep point? do you feel empowered and feel wanted when you recieve a positive reputation point? do you feel you have achieved something? my guess is yes, otherwise, you and others would not be so vocal in thier criticism of those who leave negative rep points or those who leave annonymous rep points or statements.

whether you want to admit it or not, it hurts your EGO when somebody leaves a negative rep point, I have observed this recently which is very amusing to say the least, Carrie mentioned this in one of her posts, so did Ali.

the simple obvious reason why the rep point system is in place is for commercial reasons, maybe I should write a essay regarding this in my next post

Can you show me where I mentioned this?

sure i can
