The Bach Flower Remedies

Has anyone tried The Bach Flower Remedies?

I’ve been using them for quite a while and find them to be very effective for any number of applications. Anyone else using them?

I’ve been meaning to post this question for some time and it slipped my mind …when you get to my age a lot of it slips, lol!

So when I saw this post I remembered!

Posted by the secret…

…and thought it was the perfect time to see if you guys have an interest in them.

Bachs remedies are great for taking the edge off of negative emotional states. To work effektively with these remedies, quite a bit of knowledge about each remedy is required, and there is plenty of literature to choose from. I have som good recommandation for anyone who reads german or norwegian… I come from Norway..

I have worked on my own personality/emotional hangups in certain situations, and i find them very direct, to he point. They take away the negative emotion in the situation.

If you are dealing with certain patterns in your own reactions, you may need to work longterm with one remedy, but you will through these remedies also have an arsenal for short term relief.

But that is excactly what they do - they give relief in difficult situations. They are not mood-enhancers if you don´t have a problem to begin with.

I have other recommandations if you are looking to feel even better, and experience great relaxation..: The acrylic products from harmonicsinternational.com:slight_smile: Fantastic - and you have them for life…

All the best for you

Hi Bella & thesecret

I’m interested and will be reading the sites listed. I ran across Bach rememdies recently and would appreciate both your opinions of the pre-mixed Rescue Sleep, Remedy and Stress Relief. I’d prefer to start/stick with those.

Thanks for the links!

You’re welcome and thank you for the reps!

Ink  I don’t have any premixed ones. But I do have the regular Rescue Remedy that I dilute myself. Actually that one may also be used straight or simply mixed into a glass of spring water. As far as efficacy goes…they work. Similar to homeopathy, using the same principles, only rather than applied to physiological equilibrium it addresses mental/emotional equilibrium. Some patience is required :stuck_out_tongue: as it may take a few weeks to kick in, though I find it works a bit faster for me. I don’t use them all the time. No need for a while now. But when I feel the stress coming on or anticipate a stressful situation (i.e. mother-in-law, lol) I may have to deal with …I jump right on it. That…Instant Female Magic and a gallon of vodka seem to take the edge off for me.

You probably already know, but I’ll state it for others who may be interested. Correct diagnosis of your mental/emotional state rather than your physical state should center your diagnosis. Wrong assesment and you’ll wonder why the remedy isn’t working. I would think that most people who are adept at pheromone use, such as yourself, would have little trouble figuring out the nuances of these remedies. I have no doubt after you try the Recue Remedy, and study up on the rest of them, you’ll be buying more.

If you’re having trouble reaching Dreamland, I can also suggest using Valarian tea. Great stuff for just that purpose. I’ve used it on and off for years. Alvita brand is effective and easy to brew. Six ounces of boiling water over the tea bag, cover and steep, for three minutes. You’ll definitely want to sweeten it. Check into Dreamland in 20-30 minutes. One little hitch…it stinks! LOL. Really. You may want to bury it outside with the industrial cops! Though I find if I put the tea bags in a plastic bag or closed container it doesn’t stink up my cabinet so much. Also, Passion Flower is tres effective and Lemon Balm. They also smell better, lol. I found when taking the tea, in order to achieve the best result, it helps to prepare yourself to shut down. That means removing or getting out of the way any distractions/stimulation. Walk the dog, turn off the TV, PC, etc., maybe even lower the lights…before you get comfy and drink your tea. You don’t want to have to ‘restart your engine’ when you feel the na na sleepy wave come over you. To relieve stress during the day Kava Kava is also useful, but be careful…'cause while relaxing and stress relieving it can, also, put you ‘in the zone’. One more thing…have you tried melatonin? Also, very effective. If your gonna try it, though, start with 1mg. sublingual tablet…rather than the more commonly taken, and available, dose of 3mg. If you find that dose isn’t enough, then step it up to 2-3mg.

I know that’s not what you asked about…hope it’s not TMI. Well I can’t do logarithims and don’t know nothin’ 'bout quantum physics…but I do know about the train to Dreamland…soooo thought I’d give my ‘phero sister’ a ticket to ride! Aaannnnd I make a mean spaghetti cabonara…well it’s not really mean, unless of couse, I add to much Tal to it!

Anyway hope that helps.

Bella

Hi Bella,

What I meant was that Rescue Remedy, Sleep and Stress Relief are pre-mixed combinations of essences. As a beginner it would be easier and more affordable to me to start with those and work from there as you suggested. I know I could easily collect all 38 essences and have a whole new bottle collection in addition to my pheromone bottles.

I have tried melatonin sub-lingually and did find it to be more effective than all over the counter sleep aids. I want to sleep like my husband, zzzzzz the first ten minutes he is down. That drives me crazy! Valarian may be an option if the flavor isn’t horrible as the smell. Instant Female Magic did a lot for me as far as sleeping also, calm & drowsy similar to melatonin in feel. I should start using it again, Instant Female Magic is my most ignored pheromone product. The two combined just might be a ticket to dreamland for me.

I’m not really under any major stress or experiencing anxiety now but I do think Rescue Remedy could be useful if the need arises. I am also interested in treating my dog with rescue remedy as he does get over exited and anxious, also he has separation issues. He doesn’t destroy things or need to be crated at 7 years old but does stick to me like glue once I’ve returned. Our vet techs would surely appreciate not being dragged back to me too.

See, Ink, this is what you have to look forward to! First you start to forget stuff, then you can’t spell anymore and begin to leave whole words out of sentences! What I meant to say was… I don’t have any other premixed ones only the premixed Rescue Remedy…and that I know works for me. So I can’t tell you, in particular, about using the other premixes available. And when I said I dilute it…I meant that I don’t use it straight. Though under extreme duress it may be and is recommended to be used that way.

Valerian is not as bad to drink as it is to smell. :stuck_out_tongue: LOL. I should have stated that!
I agree Instant Female Magic is often forgotten, the ‘half-sleeper’ pheromone. If I worked with a majority of women I’d probably add it to my base mix for everyday use!

Yes, dear…and I wanna wake up lookin’ like the smokin’ hot 22yr old I was in a former life!  Fortunately, for you, you’ll have better luck achieving your desire.

Please understand when I use the directive ‘you’ I’m speaking collectively.

For a lot of people the inability to sleep doesn’t have much/anything to do with not being tired. If you’re not in physical discomfort and are properly exhausted, so to speak, you should be able to reach Dreamland in short order. If not, then it may be due to racing thoughts going 'round and 'round in your head that you have difficulty shutting down/turning off.
It may then be compounded by anxiety because you can’t get rid of the thoughts…and some are afraid to sleep. If that’s the case…there are Bach remedies that can be applied individually/in combination for this specific problem, in this context. Along with physical relaxation brought about by valerian tea or melatonin this can help buy your ticket to Dreamland.
So, relaxation and sleep inducing agents are only part of the solution. The under lying cause of a problem is often multidimensional and requires more than the obvious treatment for relief/success in achieving your goal. If you’re interested in what I would use in this instance let me know.

I always keep them on hand. They last a long time, have a long shelf life…and because so little is needed to produce the desired results, may expire before you get to use the whole bottle.

As far as poochie goes…I have no experience administering, the remedies, to pets. But I’m sure you found some ref to that in the links. If you’re thinking about using Resue Remedy for him I think it’s a good idea. What have you got to lose? It’s a better attempted solution than doggie tranquilizers. Depending on how he fairs on the initial treatment with that alone, there are one or two that I can think of that you could try seperately or add right into the premixed Rescue Remedy for him.

This may sound strange…but I would be careful about wearing EST around poochie. What Chubby reacts to favorably may increase anxiety, in the dog, in his already anxious state. No joke.
He’s already got a big mommy love thing goin’ on…even though he may react favorably to it in your presence, upon seperation it may unknowingly increase his anxiety…just a thought?

Sorry I’m so freakin’ long winded…

At this point i would to emphasize something i mentioned earlier on this thread: The acrylic products at harmonicsinternational.com are wonderful for relaxation and also to release tension, pain and aches in the body. And the bonus is that you have them for life and can share them with all your loved ones!!!

Harmonics International - Essentials for Balance, Vitality, Empowerment

Thanks for your input and reply Bella. You had me searching for affect of human pheromones on dogs. :stuck_out_tongue: After reading many pages of barely understandable information to me, I’ve decided…not to worry about it. He really isn’t horribly behaved and I don’t mind being missed or loved as much as he is able to show. Rescue Remedy may be more useful to me when I’ve a vet appt. or outing with my pooch.

All three are still on my shopping list, now to see if I can find them locally or will need to purchase them from Vitacost.

it sounds like a wonderful alternative but i personally find chamomile very calming

Hi rose! Nice to have another woman here!

I agree, I also like chamomile tea, very calming indeed and works great for me, for that purpose. But if I need something to actually help me sleep…to kinda knock my butt out a bit more, lol…I need Valerian or Passionflower. Hey! whateeever works, right?

Thought I’d dig up this old thread. Has anyone tried Australian Bush Flower Essences?

Australian Bush Flower Essences - Emotional Care and WellBeing

"Flower Remedies are not new. The Australian Aboriginals have always used flowers to heal the emotions, as did the Ancient Egyptians. There has also been a very long tradition of use of Flower Essences in India, Asia and South America and they were also very popular in Europe in the Middle Ages. Hildegard von Bingen (12th century) and Paracelsus (15th century) both wrote about how they collected dew from flowering plants to treat health imbalances.

This healing method was rediscovered by Dr. Edward Bach sixty years ago through the use of English flowering plants. Today our society and its needs are totally different to that of sixty years ago. There has been a great need for remedies that would help people deal with the issues of the 21st century - sexuality, communication skills and spirituality to name but a few. The answer to this need has come from the Australian plants, developed and researched by Naturopath, Ian White a fifth generation Australian herbalist.

Ian grew up in the Australian bush. As a young boy his grandmother, like her mother before her, specialised in using Australian plants and would often take him bush walking. From her deep understanding she would point out the many healing plants and flowers. He learned a profound respect for nature through her and went on to become a practitioner and a pioneer working with and researching the rare remedial qualities of Australian native plants.

Australia has the world’s oldest and highest number of flowering plants exhibiting tremendous beauty and strength. Also Australia is relatively unpolluted and metaphysically has a very wise, old energy.

At this time there is a tremendous new vitality in this country. This, combined with the inherent power of the land, is why the Australian Bush Flower Essences are unique. Practitioners and prescribers world wide are now incorporating the Australian Essences to form an integral part of their therapy.

The Bush Remedies not only help to give clarity to one’s life but also the courage, strength and commitment to follow and pursue one’s goals and dreams. They help to develop a higher level of intuition, self esteem, spirituality, creativity and fun. The more the Essences are used, the more one is likely to experience greater awareness and happiness in one’s life. Then everyone benefits…the individual, society and the planet.

The effect of these Essences is similar to that of meditation in that they enable the person to access the wisdom of their Higher Self. This releases negative beliefs held in the subconscious mind and allows the positive virtues of the Higher Self - love, joy, faith, courage etc. to flood their being. When this happens the negative beliefs and thoughts are dissolved, balance is restored and true healing occurs."
