If you replace some of the higher fat or high carb foods with it yes but if your still eating things you shouldn’t it aids more in health and vitality.
I dont know where you heard that but its not correct. I asked around first to be sure.
Your body counts all calories whether in liquid or solid form. If it didnt then soda and juice wouldn’t cause weight gain. Juicing only hinders weight loss if done incorrectly. Just like any other eating habit or plan done incorrectly can hinder weight lose. If you eat a small amount of protein and whole wheat carbs with your juice it helps more for weight loss.
With a juice fast where you just drink the juice and thats it you wont feel full and may end up getting so hungry you over eat later. That more for detoxing really. You need to balance your juicing with a healthy eating plan to lose weight or you will lose muscle mass and muscle burns more calories. You can gain weight from just drinking juice if you over do it.
Yes I add Kale to everything LOL. Its a one of the best greens the earth every made. Its rich in
calcium, lutein, iron, and Vitamins A, C, E and K. It has 7 times the beta-carotene of broccoli and 10 times more lutein. It also has sulforaphane and indoles. Its a little hard to run through the juicer but it works and I use the pulp in cooking.
I also suggest spinach and dandelion greens (organic of course) Dont over do fruit. I just add a little to sweeten it. a quarter of a apple 2 or 3 strawberries or grapes and 1 carrot usually does it if I am making one serving.
Keep this in mind, your stomach is naturally about the size of your fist. We dont need all that food we eat, just the nutrients. Liquids can make you feel full thats one of the reasons they tell you to drink a glass of water before you eat. It bloats up the fibers and makes you feel fuller. Juice can do the same thing but not without some solids with it. So drink your juice first then eat a little something. When you drink your juice first you will notice you will naturally begin eating less at a sitting.
Some tips to share … My coach (yes I have one LOL) he is into simple. I like simple.
He says eat what you crave just be sure the craving is not a emotional one first. Ask yourself do I want that donut because my body craves it or it makes me feel better. Eventually when you dont deprive yourself you naturally go towards food your body needs.
Eat only when hungry not because its dinner or lunch time.
Eat it slow and enjoy every bite and stop before your full. He makes me use a scale 1 is starving to death and 10 is a few minutes after thanksgiving when your all bloated and uncomfortable and think you will die if you take one more bite
Learn to listen to your body and eat when your around a 5 and stop around a 7. Be sure to ask yourself a few times as you eat. I did this and it works. The first week I went towards my favorite foods but before you know it I was craving veggies and good foods.
Try the scale system it really does work even if you dont do the eat everything you crave part. I didnt think it would and told him that but he said its because I am not being mindful when I eat. I was kinda insulted because I consider myself very mindful LOL. He said I talk to much while eating and dont pay attention to my body signals then. (after I chew of course) snort. He was right though.
Oh and he said to smell your food before you eat it. Apparently there are these enzymes that aid in digestion that are activated when we smell certain foods.
Oh and dont throw that pulp away. Either compost it or make cookies, muffins or even add it to soup.
Now lets talk about Gluten. Studies are showing they are a major contributor to obesity in the USA, Something about them being processed so much now a days that our bodies just store them up because they dont recognize them or something like that. I cant cut mine out totally but I cut down and I think its helped a lot. Some of my girlfriends who have more weight to lose stopped the gluten and they feel and look great. The fat just melted off. You may want to just try to cut back on it if you can for a week or two and see if it makes a difference for you.
There are a few products I can not live without. My computer, my Ipad and Ipod and my juicer. Oh and text books LOL I know weird. ![]()
