The Gun Control Regime!

Great, comparing a knife with a gun. LOLZ

Anyway, in my opinion gun control is the best. It works everywhere else. American economy is going downhill. Im holding my breath thinking what would those ‘gun freaks’ use their guns for once they could no longer feed their families …

So from the above we see that vehicles are so much more dangerous than guns. I believe the same type of laws should be enacted with cars. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and BTW gun control advocacy is NOT on the way up at all:
Before Recent Shootings, Gun-Control Support Was Fading

Except my friend, unlike a gun, a car’s main purpose isnt to hurt people. What other functions a gun can be used for beside harming humans and animals?

Talk about a topic that will push my buttons!!

“Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.” - Thomas Jefferson One of my favorite quotes.

I own handguns in one of the most restrictive states in this country, New York. I got my carry permit when I was 18, and a concealed permit when I was 21. As far as I am concerned it was ridiculous and difficult process. Fortunately the judges we had in my county at the time were all gun owners. Currently the State legislature is trying to revoke all of our life time permits and wants to force us to reapply (and pay) every 5 years for new one, subject to the whims of whomever is in charge.

Some people on here have thrown around statistics about the murder rate in various cities relative to gun ownership. The most dangerous cities in this country have the most restrictive gun control. Plain and simple. Detroit, L.A., Chicago, NYC. Safest city in America? Kennesaw, GA where (the last time I checked) there is a local law that REQUIRES every adult resident inside the city limits to own a gun. They also have open carry there the last time I checked as well. Would you knock a little old lady on the head and take her social security check with a dozen armed citizens around? I think not.

Just think what one well placed bullet to the back of a little austrian paperhanger’s head in the 1930’s would have meant to the world? My Grandfather would not have had to work on the airplanes that leveled cities all over Germany for one thing.

Will forces from the U.S. government kick our doors in tomorrow? No. But if we let them they’ll tax ammunition to the point where we can’t afford it. Then guns. Then certain guns will be banned from manufacture. Then the list will grow. You see, you don’t “need” that particular gun to hunt deer, or ducks. (and you better not have any duck dander in your possession either).

It’s about personal freedom. Our European friends gave theirs’ up so long ago they don’t realize what they’ve lost.

Hmm, seems like you are attempting to instigate by calling members with opposing views names. Perhaps you missed my post where I asked everyone to refrain from personal attacks and name calling. It is one of the only rules of this forum and as such you do need to abide by it.

How many times such cases happen in a gun free area in the first place? LOLZ :roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

Would people feel better about killing if it was done with baseball bats or kitchen knives?

Personally, a Louisville slugger is much easier to get rid of (backyard bonfire. Oops, no they are in the process of banning those too. You know, carbon emmisions.) than a handgun.

Okay then next time I will say ‘Gun lovers’.

Are you seriously comparing a handgun and a baseball bat?

Actually more often than you would think. One of the reasons they started going with direct deposit. And it applies to any type of robbery or mugging that takes place on the street or an occupied home.

You seem to be implying that when times are tough, a person who owns a gun (or is it gun rights activist) is going to be more likely to turn to violence or other type of bad behavior than someone who doesn’t have a gun.

Im implying that during tough times a person with a gun is capable of posing far more danger to society than a person without a gun.

Gun laws don’t create “gun free areas” (lolz), they just insure that only the criminals will have guns.

Except if the laws become federal laws. There is no point banning guns in California if the criminals can import them from Texas for example.

It would be more to the point to compare gun violence stats with incidents of cars being used with intent to commit murder or assault, rather than auto accidents.

But hey, if you want to require that we register our vehicles (gasp!!), I have no argument with that either.

Not just register Carrie> I want control!

I’m heading up to Tisha23 house first to confiscate that Mustang she has :stuck_out_tongue:

No - once again it will just mean that only criminals will have guns.

Just like locks only keep honest people out. Just like Prohibition meant only honest people did not have alcohol. Just like federal laws do not stop the importation or manufacture of illegal drugs in this country.

I guess but I would not want the local Toyota Dealership taking my fingerprints when I buy a car. And I think it would be OK to sell a used Chevy to a convicted felon who has served his time.

That is why you see shootings in schools and government buildings, because they are gun free zones. Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc. Not many people want to start shooting if they think other people are going to shoot back. Even if the crazies don’t mind people shooting back they would be brought down faster.

I read a bumper sticker once. “Guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O’Donnell fat.”

I don’t own a gun but I don’t see why law abiding people can’t own one. Especially since you know criminals will always be able to get their hands on them.

Maybe we should move forward with perfecting testing children or even fetuses for genetic predisositions to violence, disease and other types of behavior and locking up children or aborting fetuses who may be genetically predisposed to potential violence, before they have a chance to hurt anyone, because of course you could never know what they might do at some point in the future if times got tough.

Yeah federal law has done a great job of eliminating drug trafficking hasn’t it.

As has been stated repeatedly, make guns, drugs or anything else illegal and only criminals will have them.
