Its a darn freaking shame. I’m fortunate enough to have a mom who can take care of me and put up with me and even take me on vacation frequently throughout the year. ![]()
For a country thats so full of pride I just can’t understand why we can’t take care of our own shit at home and stop fiddling around with all these baby momma’s we have around the world. Between the lobbyists, the special interest groups, the corporations, wallstreet, and the politicians nothing ever seems to get done. I don’t understand the intricacies of our country at all but after seeing a documentary on Capitalism it just goes to show that our votes don’t matter and although the working americans make up the vast majority of the popolution we don’t have the vast majority of the say in the upkeep, improvement, and actions that this country enacts.
Call me a traitor if you will but even I consider the thought of leaving this country for the likes of Canada/ New Zealand/ Australia among others. Im not saying these countries are better than the States although to measure the greatness of each country blow for blow is difficult to discern. I just feel like this country has forgotten what it stands for and is merely a shell of its former self.
20,000 for a family of four? There isn’t one state no matter the cost of living approximation that could support that. I frown on our government and “other prerogatives” superceding taking care of our own people.
You left out the ultra conservatives who think the poor are all “lazy bums who want to take our money through government hand outs”.
It gets me really riled up when I watch that. So much for sweeping change.
The problem isn’t a lack of job training and skills. The products you buy that say “made in China/Taiwan/Korea/Mexico/Singapore/India etc.” are not made there because these nations are the most successful at producing the most highly skilled and trained workforce. Production moved overseas because politicians told the middle class and working poor that they were entitled to this that and the other thing as far as wages, overtime, paid vacations and who knows what else that the production jobs went overseas…and eventually so did certain service jobs like call centers. And now China and India are becoming economic powerhouses by underselling us on labor costs, in spite of putting out shoddy inconsistent product.
And now Obama is proposing a multi billion dollar infrastructure program. Now granted the nations infrastructure is in dire need of repair and renovation, and the program would create some well paying but ultimately temporary jobs. It’s a stop gap measure at best. As the wages earned by the construction workers that will be doing this will be spent on goods produced in other nations. It’s an easy to follow trail actually…the government takes your tax dollars to pay federal and state level workers to rebuild the infrastructure…who then spend the money on goods made in China (those tax dollars you give up eventually make their way to support a nation diametrically opposed to the US in almost every philosophical way. To compensate the Government then takes a loan by having the Federal Reserve print more currency…which leads to a greater national debt that get’s passed to you and needs to be paid off with…more tax dollars.
And eager to win the votes of a growing poor majority the politicians will tell you what you want to hear about higher wages (living wage) which sounds good in theory but let’s face it, will only work if the companies are not presented with a less expensive option. Remember, it’s the politicians from the same political leaning that told the American worker that he was entitled to all sorts of benefits and wages that now tell us illegal immigration is good for the economy by keeping prices low…because they’ll work for less than what the politicians told you you were entitled to.
Atlas is Shrugging just like Ayn Rand said he would.
The only long term option that would work would be a system of National Capitalism. One where private sector production industries are given financial incentives to relocate manufacturing back to the states and employ US citizens. We need to start selling more products overseas than we buy. Then as euro and yen work their way into our economy adding their strength to the dollar depts can be paid down and social programs would be easier to afford, while simultaneously being less necessary.
