This stuff STINKS -- any advice?

OK, to start off, I apologize if this ends up sounding like a rant, but I’ve been really taken aback by the smell of these products. Here’s what I mean:

Just received my initial order of A314a, IS, and IH. Package came really early and androtics must have upgraded my shipping – thanks, guys – and so I grabbed the FedEx package away from my wife and waited for a safe time to open it. And as soon as I opened the package the worry began, because I could smell the spray bottles THROUGH all the plastic, bubble wrap, and tape. To the point that I thought one of the spay bottles must have leaked!

But, nope – there was no leak. The bottles just wreaked even without any detectable leaks. Then I thought: calm down, this stuff might have a really light dry-down, as promised in the product descriptions. So I tentatively sprayed 1 shot of A134 on my throat and one of IS on the back of my neck.

OH MY HEAVENS! This stuff STINKS. Bad. Not bad in the way a locker room stinks. Not funky, bad. But bad in the way old fat ladies too-sweet perfumes stink. Suffocatingly, cloyingly bad! So bad that I actually had to leave the house and walk around the block, hoping that the smell would attenuate.

After my walk, there was no attenuation. So I try to cover it up with my cologne (Chanel Pour Monsieur). It’s a little better, but REALLY heavy and the stench of the To Go spays still seeps through.

I can’t say if the pheromones are doing anything, but I can say that I’m finding the smell suffocatingly distracting – worse than some pot-smoking, patchouli-wearing hipping might emit. It’s now been about 35 minutes since I sprayed and there’s been no conditioning effect, where I would normally have a constant smell stop intruding on my consciousness. It still wreaks and I still smell it with every breath.

What should I do?

Do I need to send this stuff back and put in a custom order for scentless products?

I know that pheromones smell and so-called scentless products would need to be covered over with something, but I’d be OK with a funky smell that needs covering up. I don’t mind the smell of sweat and locker rooms that much. But this stuff is unbearable. I thought neroli oil was supposed to be citrusy?

Any advice would be really appreciated, so thanks ahead of time.:o

Yes. In fact, I was worried that they might have mixed up my order (or gifted me a ToGo of Ammo) or something when I could smell the stuff through the packaging, but it was indeed A314. Plus the IH and IS ToGos smelled the same.

I just didn’t realize what a sweet, floral smell neroli would give off. It really does smell like old lady perfume. I’m going to eat some lunch and then head to the gym, hopefully to see what kind of results I get. But I will definitely be showering this stuff off afterwards!

As Gotchaz implies, Ammo can smell a bit ‘cheesey’ but to me the rest of the products you have smell great.
You say the IH & IS smell the same as the A314? A314 should definately smell different to the other 2.

I often get a strong smell of IS inside the packaging from AD, I thnk they give a spray of it before it’s sealed.

Although you are obviously very sensitive to the smell, is your wife / others as sensitive? Has anyone else mentioned the smell?

Not yet, but I have been purposfully avoiding them :open_mouth:

Just went upstairs and sprayed another spray of my cologne, and that seems to have helped things considerably. I’ll see how things are at the gym when I’m sweating it out.

It might be a situation where I just need to wear a heavier than usual dose of my cologne. I was also considering going without my normal, unscented deodorant and spraying the A134 on my pitts :roll_eyes:, with the covering smell of the cologne on my neck and throat. What do you think?

I’ve read some recommendations to hold your breath during the application so you don’t inhale the initial burst of fragrance/mones. Also walking away from where you spray helps too. Unless you want the self effects, I would spray where you wouldn’t directly smell.

I also have a sensitive nose. When I started, I had similar complaints about the strength of the smells. You will think it smells stronger that it actually is. You will start to get accustomed to it the more you use it ..

Thanks, Cordless. I think all those tips might help a lot, actually. I’ll let everyone know how it goes over the next few days or weeks.

I wouldn’t recommend this, it will severly limit the diffusion & is much more likely to smell bad as it mixes with your sweat.

My cologne knowlege is limited but I have read that it is important to let your mones dry completely before applying cologne directly on the same spot. Probably worth doing a forum search on that.

For starters - do not spray A314 or any other phero on your pits or crotch and be careful about which ones you spray on your hair - For starters, diffusion will be hampered by your clothing and the hair, moisture, bacteria and extra warmth will very likley speed breakdown considerably, leading to very greatly increased stink.

Also, none and other pheros that break down to none do have a bit of an affinity for hair and bind rather strongly. Again leading to more stinky problems and buildup that can be a right chore to remove - Usually a very long hard scrub with hot soapy water is required!

Saying that, a small amount of TUTH sprayed just below your belly button very shortly before going to bed with someone can have surprising results but don’t spray it much lower or you might wake-up and wonder what creature has crawled into bed with you and died!

I did indeed allow my pheromones to dry before spraying the cologne. But will keep that in mind for the future, as well.

Cordless has some pretty good advice - give it a little time to get used to the new scents and yes, your own cologne will be a good cover - esp for Neroli which combines very well with a great deal with a great many colognes.

Akuto can be a little more tricky but I’ve found several that complement it nicely. Also consider moving your spray points further out - Wrists/forearms and if your hair is fairly short, the back/nape of your neck is also a useful spot.

I’ve read that none on hair is a bad idea, so I guess that should have been clue enough not to spray A314 on my pitts. Doh!

He’s right putting it on the pitts or crotch is not a good idea. It will all break down to none and will not be a good thing :slight_smile: Also generally unless it’s really hot or humid out it should dry down and not smell nearly as bright as it does when you first spray it. I find that the first 10-20 minutes after spraying it its a bit strong and if I get into someones car or something I usually say sorry I just sprayed it but it’ll go away lol. I usually get ‘that’s okay, it smells good anyways’ response.

Well, just got back from the gym and the smell is still there and noticeable (by me), but it’s not as intrusively obnoxious, nor quite as sickeningly sweet. In other words, it’s borderline tolerable :slight_smile:

As far as the pheromones, I can’t say if they were actual effects, because I didn’t know these people and can not say if their actions were out of the ordinary for them, but I had one guy at the water cooler instantly step out of my way and let me get water first, and that’s not at all a typical reaction for me. Also had another, older guy – you know the type, probably: 50+ but jacked from hitting the gym so they’ve got that mature/real-man vibe going – who gave me the manly head nod acknowledgement :cool:

Again, both of this could be everyday behavior for those guys (i.e., indicative of nothing), but it’s a bit out of the ordinary for me. I can say without any false modesty that I have a little bit of a GQ look going, not anything model-quality-ish, but better than average looking and preppy, but I’ve never had anything close to an alpha vibe at all – I’m much more of a “nice guy” / playful dude than alpha (though time spent at a military academy has trained me how to pull off alpha when I need to).

I guess what I’m trying to say is that having someone hop out of the way in a line for the water cooler, or having a muscle-man give me the head nod was interesting. Not saying it was the pheromones, but it certainly could have been and I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt…

The nice thing about A314 is it gives a self boost of confidence as well and when you’re confident it washes off on others.

yeah I still have half a bottle of ammo which the smell just knocks you on your ass, I had to order some ammo that’s akuto scent which is much better. I have some a314 spray as well, doesn’t smell strong to me. I wonder if they changed the scent. It doesn’t say on the web page. I know if they used the scent for mx451 I feel sorry for ya LOL but that scent is a strong east indian spice market smell.

The first time I sprayed a314/b on, it was also to my throat, and I was also overwhelmed by the smell. I had to open the car window.
I soon realized it was because I sprayed it underneath my nose. People who use the oil usually apply it behind the ears, so I thought I’d spray it there next time (on my neck, behind the ear). Huge difference. I wasn’t overwhelmed at all, and the affects on myself and others were noticeable. Maybe I had gotten used to the scent by the second application, but I think was mostly because of where I sprayed it. My advice is to spray it somewhere not underneath your nose.

Packages: I placed many orders with AD, and only once did the package smell. And it was a leak. Did you check the amount of liquid left in the bottles?

Next time, consider switching to Akuto of FF21. I’ve been gradually rolling all of the scents over to Akuto.

Also, remember that while you may smell like an old lady most people may not get that impression.

You probably had an old woman in your life spray on some Neroli scent. Kind of like this girl I met smelled like my grandma. Horrible I know. Am I right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Just wanted to post a quick update. Have used this stuff twice since my original post and have found that:

a) A314a does indeed smell different than IS (with the A314 less offensive IMO)

b) Spraying the IS on the wrists helps A LOT!

c) Letting it dry off and then spraying cologne over the top really makes the A314 almost “invisible” and the IS pretty tolerable.

d) After an hour or so, the combined smells are fairly pleasant.
