Is there any way to have any new posts to my subscribed threads shoot a text to my phone alerting me? That would rock.
mmm I think you can depending on your phone, service and what email account you forward it to. Like I know if you have an iPhone, it will automatically let you know when you have new email. My bro has an iPhone on TMobile and gets his email info that way.
I think that vBulletin does not support sms.
I believe in order to have that function some code has to be done and get a sms gateway…

ya, im just thinking about making a second email account and subscribing to Mobile Email through Verizon Wireless just to have that notify me instead. So ya, im gonna have to resort to email. I wish there was a third party service or something that specifically worked with forums like vBulletin and phpbb 
If you direct your e-mail to your cell phone providers sms e-mail number it should work fine.
I have Verizon and I can have e-mail sent to my cell phone by using my 10 digit phone number followed with @vtext.com. AT&T Wireless is the 10 digit phone number followed by txt.att.net. You can check on your cell providers website and it should be easy to find.
i manage a verizon retail store . That was the first thing i tried. Even on one of their most advanced devices (LG-VX10000 Voyager ]), the text field, providing me with but 160 characters is not enough for the link to pass through on the first text (since its not coming from a different verizon user it is not broke up into multiple msgs, it just is cut off : ( ).
ya, its mynumber@vtext.com and then for pics its mynumber@vzwpix.com . Having to resort to the email approach though
Yea, then I think subscribing to the e-mail account is about your only choice for now.

The SMS thing is working great! I have a notification of each subscribed thread txted to me…now to prevent myself from going crazy with txt msgs I need to narrow down my subscription list and keep that maintained — a little work thats well worth being able to stay on top of things at my favorite place on the internet
If anyone else has a cell phone on any network and needs help settings this up, shoot me a pm and i can tell you what the providers email for your number is and just shoot SteveO a pm saying you want that to be switched to your email address. Its important you bug SteveO about it because the confermation email is usually more lengthy than 160 chars (usually the alloted characters per txt msg [varies by carrier]) so you need to have the confimation to be manually be done by sir SteveO . Hope this helps others!
