Towards other Paridigms

First a story.

When my cat Friedrich was a kitten I would let him out every day. My door faced an alley in Tucson. The first thing that Friedrich would do was roll around on the sand at the base of a telephone pole.

I began to notice a musky smell on Friedrich’s back and then I realized that every morning -some guy would walk is large German Shepard that would pee right in the spot that Friedrich rolled.

I also noticed that Friedrich’s preferred sleeping spot was in my dirty clothes hamper. I couldn’t keep him out of it. He would physically lift the lid with his paw and push his head under the lid. Then he would jump inside and curl up.

So basically this cat that has around 300 times as powerful a nose as us would prefer to roll in dog piss and sleep in my dirty clothes. These smells are not appealing to us humans but then it struck me… Friedrich wanted to smell like a larger animal. It appealed to him.

…My point…
I noticed that it seems that much of the focus here is about creating a reaction in other people. Why should we? When we put on a pheromone it will affect us too. Instead of being worried about what is going on with others -perhaps we should be more like an animal -wearing a scent because of the way it makes US FEEL.

Profound!

That is why I wear Shine. Makes me feel terrific, and as a happy by product reduces the grouchiness around me!

I’ve realized that I, too, have been wearing pheromones more for their effect on me than on the people around me. And, lately, I haven’t been using the pheromones very often. It’s not because I feel they don’t work, because I definitely HAVE seen results with them. It’s more because I put on perfume in the morning that makes me feel good and don’t want the competing scent of the pheromones under the perfume. It’s also because, when I’m out among people, I’ve come to feel enough confidence and strength to approach others or allow them to approach me without feeling that I need the enhancement of pheromones. They’re fun to use, don’t get me wrong. And they do work – if I need a boost, I’ll spritz on some Instant Shine or MX 135, or if I can’t sleep, MX 204 tends to relax me.

As for the social effects of pheromones, I think the key is that they’re an enhancement of the underlying energy in the wearer. At least, this is my perception. I started using them because of the effects I wanted to create with my TargetGuy in the beginning of my attraction to him when my concern was “does he like me/how can I get him to like me” – as well as to play up the attraction that I felt was coming from him. Somewhere along the line, I realized that the important question was “do I like me?” and nothing coming from a spray bottle could provide the answer to that. Once I got my feelings and energy about myself straight, I found myself approaching ol’ TG from a “how can you NOT love me?” standpoint, sans pheromones, and this attitude seems to be what’s drawing him in.

I find that this is how my cats treat me. Those little beasties are pretty smart – and your Friedrich is a genius.

Friedrich was most likely remarking his territory. He probably also cleaned himself afterwards.

Unfortunately for me -some cats have an extremely hard time washing the middle of their shoulders. I don’t have any pictures online (currently) but think of a cat that is this shape:

Well, maybe not THAT big.
