I got overcome by insomnia, which is why I’m posting in the middle of the night. Anyway, here’s an interesting story involving pheromones. I was going to meet up with a friend, and decided to put on some A314 before going out. I wanted to use 2 drops, but ended up spilling it a little, so it ended up being more like 3. Since there aren’t many known negative side-effects from androsterone, I decided not to wash it off, and head out anyway.
I met up with her, and we were about to go eat at a buffalo wing place. However, we had to stop at her relatives’ place briefly. No problem. We got to their house, and my friend invited me in. At that point, I became mildly concerned about being moned up the wazoo with A314, because I knew the relatives had two kids (ages 1 and 3) and a cat. Oh well.
The relatives opened the door, and we went inside. The kids greeted me, and seemed to pay quite a bit of attention to me. The 3-year-old started making an intellectual conversation with me, namely, about the different fruits he learned about in preschool. (He sounded like he knew what he was talking about, I must add.) I responded by giving him a compliment in the line of “it’s very smart of you to know that”, which he seemed to like. Later, we all sat on the couch to talk. At that point, the 1-year-old crawled over to me, and asked me to pick him up (non-verbally, that is). His parents said it was OK, so I picked him up, and sat him next to me. During that time, it seemed like he responded to me the best of all people in the room. Although the conversation didn’t go beyond “hi” and names, he still seemed to enjoy my company.
Then the cat walked into the room. After asking permission, I went over to pet him. He arched his back, but didn’t show signs of resistance. The parents were very surprised; they told me that the cat is normally very uncomfortable with strangers, and often responds by hissing and scratching. (Well, none of those people wore A314.) I petted the cat for a few minutes, then decided that arching the back indicates discomfort, and left him alone. About ten minutes later, me and my friend said good night, and went off to do our own thing.
So, what are your thoughts on all this? Do you think the unusually high dose of A314 I put on caused those friendly reactions from the kids and the cat? Or was something else causing that? In the meantime, I’m going to drink a few shots of vodka, and try to get back to sleep.
