Basically, the US military considered making and phermones so powerful that dispersing them on enemy troops would make them “irresistable” to each other, and the increased incidences of sexual activity between otherwise ‘macho’ soldiers would disrupt and lower overall moral.
That would have to be a pretty powerful phermone. Could they really affect enemy troops in this way?
Hi Xantus,
this is not the first time that I read somehting like that. Ok, I think that it’s possible that some army is thinking to use something like that, and maybe they are already testing. But, I wonder how useful it could be.
First of all, let me say that I’m party of two Human Rights Oraganizations nd I’m about to join the third… So, this means that I don’t approve the mass-weapons. But, if I were a general, I wouldn’t pray Pheros in enemy troops, but something that would kill them all. Not just delay the fight until they stop arousing each-other. Anyway, it would be a strategy. Who knows? By the way, if I was still teh same general, and I should use some Pheros, I wouldn’t arouse the enemy, but I’d unload over them gallons of IFM, so those poor males, would be so depressed to cry out loud ;-)!
That story is old news. And, if you think about it the concept is absolutely absurd. Unless the military has somehow found a way to completely alter pheros so that they can force people to change their core beliefs, in which case they would no longer be pheros anyway.
Pheromones do not make people do anything! They simply loosen inhibitions and and help to lower barriers a bit. If you were to spray some Mystery Boy on yourself or one of your male friends, neither of you are suddenly going to become gay or feel an attraction toward the other, unless that tendancy was already there.
Some clown argued that he knew for a fact that the Australian Military was using pheromones for training their special forces because someone told him so. Here’s that thread: Pheromone use in the military
Errmmmm…true, here’s also another way to look at it. One time, I got involved with this individual. We’ll just say something happened and I was sure I did not want to continue to have an intimate relationship with him.
So I struggled violently to get out. Resorting to slapping, kicking elbowing. I finally broke free and kicked him out. I was SURE I didn’t want to continue. He left huffing and puffing. Then I made a mix another day, sprayed myself with it and within minutes I had to call him and apologize because I was SOOO aroused.
I played the male role of sweet talking and apologizing to get some. We got involved and I felt it was really sweet and intimate. After I washed it off I felt lame, because that was so out of character for me.
Could it work on same sex? I agree, with Mark, no, unless they were on your mind already. Could it lessen war and inspire forgiveness and compassion? Maybe. After I was involved with that guy, we never talked again. But I don’t hate him or feel any resentments like you promised me yada yada. (Pheromone use in the military)
The above situation (Sugar) only happens to me if I drink too much. I can’t say artificial pheromones have ever made me or my target do something we didn’t already want to do. Merely made it easier to do.
wow! what a lively forum! I’m used to dead places with a bridge and two trolls under it
thanks for all the responses
forgive the bad joke, I’m seriously not a homophobe, but some in the military on other forums are worried about this ever happening and are calling it “weapons of ass destruction” lol
personally, I just dont buy it; not with normal phermones anyway, in the 50’s they sprayed troops with LSD to see what would happen and man was that a messed up parade
Mones dont really work that way so the would be useless for the military to use on mass numbers of people. Frankly I think that artical is a bunch of bullcrap.
The effects of mones are subtle and dont override a persons free will. They enhance whats already there. Men will not become attracted to other men suddenly unless they were to begin with. They will not become overl aggressive unless they had this tendancy before they used mones.
I originally heard about that story about a year or two ago. I don’t think it will work as intended. More likely, it will cause the troops sprayed with it to go on a raping spree once they reach the nearest town or village in enemy territory. If you’re trying to bait the enemy forces into committing war crimes, then it just might work. Otherwise, its won’t do much at all. I don’t believe for a second that pheromones can change people’s sexual identity that drasticly. It might inspire some shell-shocked, low-morale troops to rape the local women and/or make extra trips to the whore houses, but thats all.
