I have two cats who are both getting on a bit now and whilst one is fully fit and healthy, the other is showing signs of age and I almost lost her to a serious infection two years ago. At the time, the vet warned me that it had probably damaged her liver and she may not have that much longer to go and although she is still happy and healthy, she has slowly got thinner and tires more easily since.
They have been used to and very close to each other all their lives and I do wonder how the survivor will manage when other goes. I got them both together as two very starved and neglected rescue kittens back in 2001
Awww… that’s very sad that she has those problems. Now, if she is still happy with the abilities she still possesses and can still appreciate your’s and her ‘friends’ company, I’m sure she’ll be content with the time that she does have…

Such a sad video, I cried… ![]()
Animals feel real love.
Mobo, I hope your cat has a few good years left. It’s very kind of you to open your house to rescue kittens ![]()
Aww that was sad. I often wonder why people assume animals don’t feel pain or emotion. Sure they don’t express it exactly like humans do but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel it. Maybe believing animals don’t feel helps people justify how they are treated or the negative aspects of some animals life experiences. For instance some animals are prey for others. Its a natural part of our survival. However animals don’t feel guilt or shame as strongly for following those natural instincts like humans do. I am not saying they don’t feel those emotions but oddly they are more understanding of those instincts then humans are. We have to eat to survive, we were not, nor have we ever been herbivores. We are not biologically made to be herbivores.
Animals not only feel they can recall feeling. Have you ever seen the documentary called Christian the Lion ? Its about these two British men who found a cub being sold at Harrods department store (seriously) and brought it up. They lived in the London area so as it grew they knew they couldn’t keep it and made arrangements with a wildlife group to introduce it back into the wild. He integrated fine after a while, even learning to hunt on his own and becoming the leader of his own pride. A year later with the discouragement of the wildlife “experts” who claimed to know how animals think they went back to the area he was left in to check on him so with the help of the man who helped introduce Christian back into the wild they found him. The “experts” told them, he is wild now and will treat you as such. Basically he will protect his cubs from you and attack and he wont remember you. They said wild animals don’t remember or form emotional connections. Basically they don’t feel.
The whole documentary is not online anymore but Youtube captured that moment when they were reunited. He didn’t recognize them straight away until he got all the visual, pheromonal and auditory cues but then you see the moment he remembers and the emotion that follows.
Animals feel all emotions. They form connections with other animals. Sadness happens for all living creatures but so does joy. We are not the only species privy to the universal laws.

Oh yes, she’s certainly happy and content:
