What are experimones? What are putative pheromones?
Experimones are the main pheromone ingredients for different products, so that you can play around and try to make your own mix if you’d like to. Not recommended for the newer users, only for people who have a very good handle on what they are doing.
Putatives are pheromones that need to be tested and are not 100% sure what they do. That’s why they haven’t been named yet. Again, this is for people who want to help and try out the cutting edge new molecules. But be warned, they don’t always end up being “magical potions of delight.” Sometimes people just get nothing out of it. Kind of a grab bag, from my experience.
Hehe. “Grab bag” is a good, practical way to describe a putative. I like that.
Of course, to traditional science, no pheromone is completely proven. After more than something like 20 years of data, even androstenol and androstadienone are stilled call “putative pheromones” in the lit.
ExperiMone is sort of our brand name for “pheromones for experimenters”. Or specifically, our brand name for dosed pheromones for experimenters.
It makes sense to us, but it seems to be a tough name for a lot of people to get their head around. Maybe we should stop being all fancy about it and just call 'em “Dosed Pheromones” or “Custom Dosed Pheromones”.
I suppose the “market” for experimentors isn’t large enough to really need a catchy “brand name”, anyway. Heck, in science gear, one of the major brands that we use is literally called “Brand”. That’s an unsexy a brand name as you can get, yet their equipment is not low quality or generic as the name might imply. They have some cutting edge tools.
No! Generic is unsexy! Eeek.
This is how I describe them…
Experimones are mostly mainstream single mones you find used most frequently in popular mixes. They may not be scientifically proven so technically they are putatives but they are user proven and popular. They are for making your own mixes mostly.
Putatives are single molecules that are suspected to act as a pheromone. We test them out and report on the effects we see to help in the research that Androtics is doing.
Experimental mixes are a mix of putatives and experimones or putatives and a scent additive depending on what they are testing for. We try them out and report on them. This is part of how consumer mixes are eventually born. A lot of testing and tweaking to get it just right.
