I had similar initial experiences with Instant Shine. However, when I accidentally doubled the usual recommended dose, I got some major hits (multiple DIHLs) and very pleasant self effects. Here’s my post on the subject: Adventures with Instant Shine: "OD" works for me!
So you could just try upping your application levels first before adding other pheromones. It seems to have worked for me…
