Who are the real deplorables? Who's REALLY in this basket they keep talking about?

I’ll be up front right now, and tell you that I can’t in good conscience say I like either candidate. I’m sorry if that offends anyone. That’s not my intent. I like you guys, and actually feel bad for almost everyone on the planet right now that’s living through this fiasco. The US presidency affects almost everyone, regardless of where or who they are.

Honestly, I think this may be one political race where stating my opinion publicly offends just about no one. We all simply know too much to really admire these people, don’t we?

But if one thing has stuck in my mind, it’s the phrase “basket of deplorables”.

Interestingly, while both the mainstream and alternative presses have both made a big deal of this phrase, they have never bothered to ask… who are the real deplorables?

Well now, with more access to hidden information than ever, I’m going to venture a guess myself. And then I’d like others to try answering, too. Just a mental exercise here. Maybe it’ll help some of us. If not with whom to vote for, maybe it’ll at least help as an anti-stress device to help let out a little steam.

Ok, so here goes…

Who are the real deplorables?

My guess: It’s not you and I, regardless of whom we support or don’t support. It’s the politicians! D’oh

Or more specifically: The politicians and those with political ambition that care more for the corrupt payola they earn from those able to bribe them, than they do for the masses of people who vote for them and the honest pay they receive from everybody’s pockets. Most literally only care about the tips they earn.

There’s probably a few good people in politics. Of course. Some must sneak in. But the endless leaks this election show just how rare decent, benign people in politics are.

Ok, that’s my guess! What’s yours?

The whole system is deplorable if you ask me, you did ask me right?
I vote to vote for no one.
I could probably campaign with TUTH/TAC/P96 and get everyone’s vote.
But the world isn’t ready for that right now.

Whatever happens happens.
Perhaps the presidential runners should be questioned with IH.

You know, I can’t disagree with the system point.

A lot of people are waiters and waitresses in LA. I have a room mate right now that’s a waiter.

He tells me often gives people free things like dessert to get bigger tips. Not with the restaurant’s permission. He said he’d do it with free alcohol, but the restaurant carefully watches that.

So he’s basically stealing. Earning more $ with something the restaurant doesn’t keep tight controls over.

Obviously I wouldn’t lend him money, but he’s an otherwise nice guy. This is a definitely a side effect of an imperfectly designed system.

That said, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. There’s plenty of waiters and waitresses that don’t steal, just like there’s plenty of baby sitters that don’t abuse the children. Plenty of people go on dates without theft, rape or murder, too.

A good person in a position of power wouldn’t necessarily plunder and steal everything around them.

I think it’s the goodness of every day people that have self-control that must keep this country going, despite the massive corruption up top.

Yeah, that’s some magical stuff. Why didn’t I think of that? :slight_smile:

But with some of the corruption you hear about, I wonder if they should be questioned using Honesty by a Homeland or Jack Bauer style character (from the TV Show 24). These leaks show a level of corruption far beyond what I ever imagined. It’s unreal.

Yet normal citizens like us can get treated harshly for little things. I got an expensive ticket for “jay walking” once, which happened to be to avoid a person acting crazy that was standing near me.

That’s not fair. I want my money back!

True story, I actually got out of a jay walking ticket in an high jay walking ticket zone, for wearing a suit and saying I was on my way to work, which I was.
But it does make me wonder if I had on a respect mix, would I be able to get out of tickets?

I totally agree though, no human made system seems to ever reach infallibility, but it is good that the general public step in and make sure things are in order, as much order as possible that is.

I was working for the county as a road maintenance worker and they had some cool reflective jackets and they are comfortable and with it being colder I wear it quite often and when they see the county road badge on it when I am stopped, I just tell them I am inspecting the road and I am left alone so I am lucky hehe.
