What makes you think they love men ? Not everyone loves there jobs. I would think it would be more like working in a donut factory. Once you go home you never want to see another donut again.

I agree, thought the discussion was a bit one sided.. I’ve never paid for services but from conversations I’ve had the ones that work independently do love the money and don’t necessarily think highly of the men.
Yeah, but that’s not evenly distributed. Some people get married and divorced multiple times, and they skew the average.
Why? More demand than supply. Demand for illegal services. Demand for illegality as a thrill.
If prostitution would work as a normal economic transaction, average prices of a visit would rise until there are as many acts of sex for sale as there are buyers in a given time.
Part of the market does work as a normal economic transaction. Think of a cleancut travelling salesman and a girl in her twenties who can’t pay her rent. If the price is 100$, and there are more travelling salesmen than girls in financial trouble, price will be 200$, a few salesmen will give up the service and/or a few girls who have no trouble paying rent will join the profession to buy designer purses. I guess we all hoped that all prostitution was like this, when it was legalised.
If we expect everyone to have no more darkness than a bit of honest and controllable greed or lust, it makes no sense indeed. But is that assumption correct?
Another part of the market consists of johns who prefer to visit an illegal brothel for 50$, rather than a legal one for say, 150$. For them, the ability to go more often is worth more than knowing the girl they buy is not a sex slave.
Just like there is a demand for stolen goods, if they are cheaper than goods bought honestly in a store. And there is demand for sneakers made is sweatshops, if they are cheaper. I think we have a hard time facing the general willingness to buy the products of exploitation to enjoy more luxury.
Finally, some johns simply enjoy the illegality or want something illegal. Part of illegal prostitution involves underage girls, some johns want a 15yo, not a 25yo. Some johns have STD’s and won’t get service from ‘clean’ prostitutes. Some johns only want to buy women who are without free will, like addicted women and sex slaves, they don’t want a willing woman. Dark things to think about but they do exist in the world.
If you let go of some assumptions, however comfortable they may be, things do make sense.

I think it’s sometimes a combination of laziness ( not wanting to put in the work, whether it’s the chase or pursuit or the time it takes to make sure your partner is satisfied) convenience( when I’m hungry I want to eat now..which is why I keep food in the house..when I am horny…I want to…er…you get my point). Or sometimes, as ElectraComplex pointed out in her post “less drama” and emotion unless you get caught. Sometimes you just need a quick re-lease so you get back to what you were doing but don’t want to be made to feel like a selfish lover.
