I felt like a kid at Christmas this morning when I got to the office and Santa got my letter! I had my alpha androstenol but there was also another little green bubble wrapped parcel with it. Could it be? YAY! (Imagine a 270# guy jumping around like a little kid).
I grabbed three business cards and sprayed the backs with each. Wow. Very different from what I expected- not sure what I expected exactly. This is just my impressions off the cards.
FF20- Reminds me of a cologne that I wore in high school (can’t remember which one) seems to have some amber and maybe a bit of black pepper to it. Woodsy or nutty scent. I like it. I agree with (I think it was nbully) who said that this would be difficult to cover. Like Akuto, I wouldn’t be too concerned abut covering this.
FF21- This one reminded me a lot of Green Irish Tweed. 'Nuff said.
(Actually, I thought it smelled so much like GIT that I sprayed some GIT onto a card for a side by side comparison. FF21 smelled a LOT like it, just a bit more soapy on the drydown.) Personally, I really liked this one.
FF22- By far the safest as far as mass appeal. I really don’t think this could offend or inspire anyone but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Somewhat of a more floral note but not too girly in my opinion. I look forward to seeing how this plays when I am actually wearing it. I think this would be VERY easy to cover.
Okay, so starting in line with the lowest number first I sprayed on FF20 to test today, FF21 tomorrow, etc. (one spray to my neck and one split between the wrists). STRONG on initial application. After about 20 minutes though, it was quite nice. Very masculine. I felt like the Malboro man. (Not like a cowboy but just like I belonged in the era those commercials came from.)
Armed with my three cards I set out on my mission to ask what people in the complex thought (I specifically asked them two questions that were gender based). I literally asked about 25 people (I love being my own boss! Gives me the opportunity to do dumb stuff like this and…) because this made a fascinating social experiment for me. I didn’t put the cards in any particular order, I just let them randomly smell each scent. I had numbered them with the FF#'s so I knew the difference.
For men I asked which they liked the most and which one they’d be most likely to wear. For women I asked which they liked the most and which they would buy for their man to wear.
I was actually amazed at how it was split by age (even more than race- age seemed a very determining factor- so actually I did ask for age because I figured out very quickly that age made a big difference in which one a person liked more). To a person, everyone 40 and up, LOVED FF20. I had 3 women ask what it was so they could buy it for their spouses. Sorry ladies, it is just a test product. In this demographic everyone also liked FF22 but not as much as FF20. I heard a lot of, 'I’m not a big fan of the citrus type scents (regarding FF21). Actually, I also heard from a couple of women how FF21 reminded them of something their teenage sons wore (one of the brands of body sprays apparently smells similar).
People between 35-40 seemed split between FF21 and FF20). I heard a lot of complements from guys about FF20 but they thought it might be too ‘old’ for them to wear. The women liked FF21 a bit more because they liked that it was a ‘clean’ scent and would like to see their guys wearing that.
Now under 30 in particular seemed to like FF21 (I keep trying to put MX instead of FF ). All seemed to agree that it was a nice, clean scent. A couple of the younger women I talked to thought that FF20 reminded them of their father or grandfather (in a good way- like a childhood memory that makes them think of the person wearing it as strong, masculine and dependable).
I found it very interesting how overall, FF22 garnered the least attention of the 3. I can’t wait till I start wearing this one just to see if it gets any more interest from people.
After I’d finished playing with the different scents I’d gone to see the friend who I saw yesterday while testing MX337+MX114 and I was AMAZED at the difference. She was back to normal. Friendly but not groping me. She gave me a hello hug like she always does and I got an, ‘Mmmm… New cologne? Very nice.’ (for the record- she’s also in the 40+ demographic).
The diffusion on FF20 seems to be decent. Not in the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Musc Ravageur category where one spray wafts 20’ but I had people noticing from a few feet away. And they knew it was coming from me because I had a couple of women come over to ask where they could get it at.
I think (for me at least) Akuto has a bit better diffusion but this worked well enough. Almost killed me going phero free to test this by the way. The next few days with just cologne are going to be hell. Ah well, the things we do just to get Ammo back in stock. (I know I could have put something on that I know how it reacts but I wanted to test the scents alone and not the scents covering IG or something).
For my part, at least having worn it once, I’d get this with a product. Akuto is still my favorite, but this is very nice too.
Edit- one thing I wanted to add. I really liked the fact that none of these scents smelled ‘cheap’ to me. They all smelled like quality scents regardless of if I thought it would work for me or not. It really shows that Michael Harris and the wonderful folks at Androtics really do care about what they put out there for people.
