Over 500 rep points put you in a respectable position within this community (plus, at least 6+ months of membership)
700+ puts you in an elite group; not many active users have that…
300 more points, I would be up there with the forum ‘immortals,’ lol… It was not that long ago, when I had only 300 rep points… I am surprised I racked up 400+ rep point in less than a year…
IMO, every active poster/user, who is into mones, should aim for at least 500+ points.
There’s one from me.
May you reach your greatness quickly and without haste.
Here’s to the respect that these newly received rep points will bestow upon your status and perceived knowledge.
Cheers
Dont get me wrong I am happy your reps are going up but I think people should aim for posting quality posts and not worry about there rep points, those will follow.
I have seen members who have thousands of rep points and post crap and I have seen members with 50 points who make brilliant observations and posts. The content of the post speaks for the persons knowledge experience and contribution to the forum, not the the number under your name.
Tisha
Thanks for noticing some of my posts and thinking they are good, Tisha.
uhm… yeah. This is the interwebs and an anonymous forum. While I respect a lot of the posters here who put in a lot of time and effort into not only research but giving back to the others and guiding them on their quest to better themselves, not once did they suggest doing it by getting rep points.
That’s why I keep mine hidden. I’d rather be recognized for quality than some mystical point system.![]()
I want that big stuffed teddy bear for my 1500 points
What can I get for 300 rep points??? Maybe that dusty gazoo in the corner?!? ![]()
Steve hides his reps because he traded in the whole TOY store for 'em!! ![]()
Its cool to have tons of rep points, though, I agree that the quality of your posts determines the ‘respectable position’ that CK speaks about. Hell, I’ve seen some new forum users post some EXCELLENT observations and this is in there INTRO!
So, quality over quantity for me… though with enough quantity, you MAY get quality…
Even so, CONGRATS CK on your Rep points!!! May you reach your 1K sooner rather than later!!! ![]()
Ooooooh no ya don’t! Keep yer paws off…teddy’s mine! ![]()
Bell
Well then can I trade the teddy bear for you? ![]()
What do rep points get you? Respect from some? Sure I suppose. But two things here:
A. It’s a forum. Those that know and respect you are all that matters. Why do they respect you? Well, that leads into…
B. Quality vs quantity. On the other forum I belong to, some of the most respected members are the ones that rarely post. But when they do, they post quality. It’s like the Don Juan vs Casanova deal. Quantity or quality?
At most, I think the rep point system is a decent indicator for new members to weigh the metit of advice given my various posters. Somebody asks a question and is given conflicting answers, then the rep points can help the asker to determine who likely knows best what they’re talking about. That’s really about it imo and even then it’s not a solid guarantee that the advice is accurate or will work. But if I see posts offering advice from somebody with a couple of months under their belt and under a hundred rep points or I see a post from sombody like Tish who’s been here for a long time and has earned a high rep, I’m going to assume she probably knows a bit more than most and thus give her advice a little more consideration.
LOL! Nice try, flyboy. I’ll think about it
…you’re gonna need beaucoup points if ya wanna trade up! ![]()
