A prescription for character traits, personality and life achievements

Near the end of Chapter One of Pstcho-Cybernetics, Maltz asks us to collect scrapbooks on persons who exhibit the qualities of character and life achievements to which we aspire. I know a few others here have read Psycho-Cybernetics, so I would like to ask you all a seemingly simple question:

Whose character traits and achievements do you aspire to and whose character traits and achievements do you feel are important in this exercise when striving to be both a better person and an alpha male?

Ok, I’ll start. This will be an evolving list with many different traits. Please feel free to add persons and traits at your leisure.

Perseverance: steadfastness; seeing something through to the end in spite of obstacles and/or discouragement. When I was young, I called this “having guts.”

Persons with perseverance:

  1. Thomas Alva Edison
He had many difficulties to start life. He was tossed out of public education and was homeschooled; he had hearing problems from a young age; he had a number of setbacks including financial ones in his ventures.

However, Edison kept plugging away. It is no small wonder that Edison succeeded to create a commercially practical lightbulb where others failed. He envisioned the end product and then worked hard for it until he had what he wanted. Even in total failure, his Ore mining operation in New Jersey ended up revolutionizing the concrete business and Edison ended up making money on the project instead of losing money.

Famous quotes:

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

“When I have fully decided that a result is worth getting I go ahead of it and make trial after trial until it comes.”

“Genius is one per cent inspiration, ninety-nine per cent perspiration”

A few that I’ve chosen…
Anthony Robbins for his motivational and business skills
John Maxwell for his leadership skills
David Deida for his relationship skills
Robert Kiyosaki for his financial skills

I am still wanting to find someone for health.

I think of Jack Lalanne or Bruce Lee for fitness. Lance Armstrong is also good for fitness, though most think of him for perseverance.

Tiger Woods is great for concentration. Have you seen him putt? It is how he concentrates that sets him apart from everybody else. He is a rock hard laser beam of focus.

Yeah Tiger is amazing. Those are some excellent choices on fitness, I really like the Bruce Lee one because there’s so much more to him than just the fitness…his whole philosophy. I think that I’m gonna borrow that.

Tom Waits for being badass, genious and as odd as he ever wants to be.

Don’t miss the awesome dance starting around 2.47.

oh man, i just stared new pschyo-cybernetics (with dan kennedy) today!!!

I was thinking about bravery today and who personifies bravery.
