A314 New Scents & Essential oils: Your immediate opinion required

Thanks for your kind words.

You’d actually be a g-r-e-a-t person to tell the grades of oils we have, because of where you are!

The middle eastern perfumer we’ve been doing a little work with has sent us oils that smell divine. Much better, to our noses, than other oils we’ve received from around the world. We asked him why, and he told us that most exporters send their worst quality oils to the US, because nobody here knows the difference! That’s why we’ve started to buy more from him.

He supposedly uses higher quality oudh directly from Assam in one of the blends we like the most. Probably not the insane stuff that only billionaires have access to, but whatever it is, it does smell great. As to the actual grade, I guess we’ll see… We have some outstanding noses right here on the forum!

If all you guys REALLY want an “unscented” version of A314, we can do that ASAP. We still have our MX series backlog slowing us down, but other than that, that’s an easy version to do.

We can also do the version with the Indosian oudh very quickly.

The nice blend of cruelty free, animal oils with oudh will take a little while longer. We’ll probably call it something like “A314 Royal Edition”.

If it’s only mildly scented (just for the wearer and those closest to them), it’ll only cost a little more. Even a reasonable amount of something like real musk adds serious pheromonal oomph.

If it’s seriously scented so you fill a room like a cologne does, it could easily run more than $300. Some of the plant oils alone run $400 for 3ml from suppliers.

From what I gather here, most guys want something very lightly to lighty or even medium scented. Enough to add oomph, but not enough to compete with a spray-on cologne or perfume.

When I think about it I’d have to say yes. Because when I spray on multiple sprays of different pheremones I do not want to come off as just some other kid wearing too much cologne.

Hi folks: Just wanted to add some more ideas on A314

The A314 is a very potent product that helps us all get the respect we deserve. The Amouage line that I have(comes from Wendy in Europe)

For Men and Women they offer GOLD,Silver,Ciel and Dia.(I like them all but Dia seems to have a light signature, which might make it ok to wear to work.) These are reportedly the most expensive purfumes available so they are worthy to be used with CLASSIC A314 that Jasmin and Michael provide us with.

As for oils the products that work the best for me come from Eden Botanicals & Madini Perfume Essences.

For Eden my favorite choice is without a doubt Desert Balsam a solid purfume oil it smells great(but is probably too strong for a work environment) Amber Essence Oil is next, Sandal Wood Dreams & Mystic Wind. all good

Madini Agarwood,Oud,Autumn,Chipre, and Gazell (This is a Black MUSK)

These are really great products that work well and last a long time,(Jasmin you can get sample bottles from both companies for testing)

P.S. A314 works great by itself too…

Hey, Trader. Thanks for the list.

I smelled my Amouage Dia sample again! This is actually pretty close to the real oil blend oils we’re going to use in one of the A314 versions. I haven’t smelled any real plant + animal oil blends that smell like Amouage Gold or Silver.

Eden is natural, but Madini is all synthetic. That’s why Madini is cheap, and Eden is not. We don’t use synthetics in A314 yet, because the oil base gives us the rare opportunity to use the real thing (and we’d prefer to use better oils than anything we can get in the US). If we do make a release that uses some synthetics, the first one we’ll probably do is A314 + Akuto.

I have some real Gazelle oil. It’s a very girly smelling musk. I don’t think you’d like it.

i would like to suggest having the lightly scented spray version (mx102) available as well as the oil based formula(e). i usually start the day with a drop or two of A314 (i have the mutant version) and add a spray or two of other pheromones (usually a or b 'Androstenol or whatever new one i have recently received) and cover with my cologne. i then take along an atomizer with a mix of mx102, whatever new pheromones i am testing, and my cologne to re-apply later in the day or night.

(whispers) They’re the same thing, just different names.

<edit>
OOPS, looks like I was a little late with this.:o

That’s what I thought?

There’s gotta be a reason for the 3 different names, though, right? It’s confusing.

The Wikipedia entry for Agarwood has a nice little summary of the etymology; it seems “oud” is Arabic, “agar” is Hindi, and “aloes” is traced back as far as the Old Testament:

<quoting now>
Agarwood is known under many names in different cultures:

  • It is known as Chén-xīang (沉香) in Chinese and Jin-koh (沈香) in Japanese, both meaning “Sinking Incense” and alluding to its high density.
  • Both agarwood and its resin distillate/extracts are known as Oud in Arabic (literally wood) and used to describe agarwood in nations and areas of Islamic faith. Western perfumers may also use agarwood essential oil under the name “oud” or “oude”.
  • In Europe it went by the name of Lignum aquila, or eagle-wood, presumably because of its appearance.
  • Another name is Lignum aloes or Aloeswood. This is potentially confusing, since a genus Aloe exists (unrelated), which also has its uses, as in the “aloe” brought by Nicodemus to embalm the body of Jesus (John 19:39) which was from the genus Aloë. However, the Aloes of the Old Testament (Num. 24:6; Ps. 45:8; Prov. 7:17; and Cant. 4:14) and of the Hebrew Bible (ahalim in Hebrew) is believed to be eaglewood from Aquilaria agallocha.
  • The Indonesian name is “gaharu”.
  • In Vietnamese, it is known as trầm hương.
*]In Hindi,(India) it is known as “agar”.

Jasmin, if you are going to do an OUD version of A314 or any other pheremones.. I wonder how that is going to play out as so far what I’ve heard about OUD is that the scent is very strong and even a small drop is enough.

I use A314 but a good part of the time I work in an environment where cologne is not really used or considered appropriate. So A314 without a scent is perfect for me. I light phermone smell gets lost in all the other smells.
However for colognes, I do like Amouage Arcus - get a lot of complements on it across the board.

Here is a new thread I started about the history and usage of Oudh.

There’s a limited amount of A314 with the light Indoesian agarwood oil. It’s the default shipping A314 at the moment.

They also added just a little of our new royal essential oil blend, to help round it out a little. What you’ll mostly smell is the Indonesian. It doesn’t smell too strong, but you may or may not like the Indonesian. Depends on how it works with your skin chemistry. At the very least, it masks the pheromone odors nicely.

Even though this was much costlier to make, it’s shipping at the old A314 price right now. When the A314 Royal Edition comes out, it’ll cost more.

We like the royal blend a lot more, but YMMV. I know some people will love this one, too.

The Royal Edition A314 would be the special edition A314 right?
Does it too contain oud?

No, it’d be another edition of Classic A314. So it’ll be “Classic A314, Royal Edition”.

The Royal oil blend is definitely worthy of the “Special Edition”, but the Special Edition was inteded to have a lot of added Alpha Androstenol and other pheromones to make it a little more friendly… more “all in one”. We’re going to do an MX series test pack before we commit special edition to oil.

So,

Classic A314 = Good ol’ follow the leader effect, wise father feel, high respect, with low or no initiation from others but high compliance when you make requests

There will be different Limited Editions of A314 out, including the light Indosian Oudh, The Royal Edition, and maybe even a close to scent free edition.

Special Edition = Classic A314 + some aspects of Instant Openness, Instant Shine, and maybe other products, all wrapped into one… plus a killer real oil blend

That’s what we wanted to do awhile back to celebrate 10k bottles of A314 were sold, but were were delayed by the oils. We just didn’t smell anything “good enough”. We’re now at the point where we have access to good enough oils, BUT we want to put it a few variations through the MX testing cycle first. Since we have the opportunity, why not get it just right?

The royal blend does contain oudh, a much richer one to my nose. It has high grade, darker oudh from the Assam region of India. It usually smells sort of smokey after it’s on your skin for awhile.

It also has REAL deer musk, real whale ambergris, real rose to extend the musks, and some other cross-your-eyes-with-bliss oils. Top notch all the way! We usually talk in a reserved manner here, but honestly, I find it completely irrestible!

sniffs her wrists and blisses out for a sec

Okay, back. :stuck_out_tongue:

These are expensive, though. The real ambergris and musks are some of the rarest and finest oils on earth. The price of the Royal Edition will depend on how much of the oil blend is added to A314. This is a no-holds-barred product, so if people want a high concentration added it may increase the price a lot. If everyone just wants a hint of luxury, we can sell the Classic Royal Edition for only a little bit more than plain Classic.

$o when will we find thi$ available for purcha$e in the $tore? $ometime $oon, I hope.

The light Indonesian is what’s shipping when you buy A314. There’s no upcharge for it, because we didn’t feel it was worth one. It’s nice, but it didn’t wow us like the perfumer told us it would. Maybe we’re just picky.

For the Royal Edition (with what we’re calling “Royal Oils”), we have to wait to receive a production quantity from the the perfumer (who’s a very different perfumer than the one mentioned above). We’ve learned to disregard all timetables that perfumers give us. I guess you can’t force art.

The Royal blend includes some of the world’s costliest oils. We’ll probably have to run a survey about how much people would pay for A314 with the Royal Oils included, so we can determine the ideal % of oils to include.

The Royal Oils are absolutely to-die-for gorgeous. We can send you a small sample of the concentrated Royal Oil free of charge with any order. Just include a request in the order notes.

I hope you can keep a line of each as scentless as possible, like an earlier poster I find myself in situations where cologne is just not appropriate (such as an EMT, and I see a lot of people on here are in the medical profession). I also like to have complete control over what I smell like as I have tons of self designed and commercial colognes. While those smells may be nice they also get the price up there.

If not possible now, it’d be nice to just have scented and unscented available (or scented just enough to cover/help diffuse the mones as it is on some of them already with whatever is cheapest/most scientificly effective).
Myself I’d be pretty pissed if I was paying more for expensive scent that I don’t even want to use for the situation I may be using mones in.

Personally I’m not a big fan Amouage, I haven’t smelt all of them but the ones I have reek of aldehydes, and the closest description I can come up with is that of a urinal cake at public restrooms.

Sleekll you’re right.I would instead like to see a scentless option as well as the different type of scents available like the Akuto,Sweet Neroli EO and Fragrance No.6 fragrances in the pull-down options box in each product. Then I can have specifically select certain products to have the scent that I truely like.More convenient for the packers as well.

Hectic day, but a few notes I have to get out there:

  1. Since we weren’t thrilled at the light Indosian oudh, we added a small amount of a dark (no kill) deer musk to the rest of batch (we only filled 20 bottles initially). This will affect the next 70 bottles shipped out. It won’t really affect concentration (real musk is extremely potent!), but it sure does make it smell manlier, which is what we want for A314. It’s a perfect match.

Unlike some synthetic musks, this isn’t “cheesy” or inappropriate at all. It’s ultra-classy, like an Amouage product. It should add nicely to the effect, and is still subtle enough to be usable at any venue (work, etc.)

  1. We might be able to offer “unscented”, but only to experienced users only who understand what they’re getting into. Our out normal guarantees and exchange policies would not apply.

There are more costs to business than the oils used. We’d probably need to charge more a little more for unscented oils, since they’d be an ultra-niche, super low production product in an already niche market (which dramatically increases our costs).

Pheromones usually need that extra oomph to create a good sillage, as well as something cover their natural odor. Newbies or casual users only tend to get into trouble with “unscented”. They also don’t understand that most pheromones themselves have an odor (many ads for bad products feed this myth). They confuse “unscented” with “scent free”.

We want to give you what you want, but phero products without natural oils or fragrance molecules added are really for advanced users only. It’s like allowing people to buy ingredients to make their own perfumes with (what would you do with raw Iso Super E?) You have to know what you’re doing to make something good! You’re playing both product chemist and artist when you take these things into your own hands. That’s fine for a select few who are really into these things, but it’s not for the typical spray-n-go or drop-n-go consumer.
