I agree with you (I didn’t like it much myself), although for different reasons. We bought it from a famous natural perfumer for a “special edition” of A314. It was expensive, but when I received it, I didn’t feel like it was good enough. We actually called up and dared to question this perfumer’s taste. Now I question their integrity. You’ll be glad to know that scent package is all gone, and we’re not buying from that perfumer again.
The new batch will have a different package. We’ll probably do a package with simple animal and plant musks this time around.
We can have those, but I only sell products designed to work well without much thought or tweaking to new customers. Sort of like the Apple or Bose versions of pheromones.
Unscented would be for repeat customers only (who know how to mix properly with their own highly diffusive colognes), and without the normal guarantee. More for the type of people in the do it yourself crowd. Extending the Apple/Bose metaphor above, these would be for the people into PC building & modding.
I’m in both boats, actually. Sometimes I like to tweak, but when I’m busy, I like something fast and off the shelf.
We have some beautiful oils like that that will appear in the Royal Edition of A314.
This scent package comes from far out of the country, and we’re still waiting for our next shipment of it arrive. In the meantime, you can get a sample of a few drops of the concentrated Royal Oil from us for free w/ any order. That’ll help you determine if you like it or not.
So any feedback on the effects of the last batch of the oil version of A314? I think I’ve only seen comments from Sunny (and, of course, myself) on the actual psychological effects.
If there’s no comments, it looks like we’ll go down a similar path on this one, and base it on MX172.
Greetings Mr. Harris, I don’t often post (if ever) with regards to a314, probably because I have not had enough real time testing in the real world to prove its effectiveness. Personally I like to make a comprehensive detailed post based whatever subject matter at hand when I have accumulated enough information to make a statement, worthy for future citation, in any case, I just want to point this out, and you have a fantastic smelling product, the fragrance, whatever you want to call it? I will call it a product, since we are not dealing with fragrances solely.
I purchased your Andriotics a314 on the other forum (you know the one) and the liquid smells refined, and very classy. I kind of pigeon hole the scent between a very high end essential oil mix and a fine Italian desert, they types you find on those very expensive high street shops in NY or Sydney.
Now, what I am actually trying to say, is, where did you get that scent? The concoction? What is it based on? I really like it, and would wear it even if it did not contain any pheromones. I often leave the a314 bottle on my desk as a paper weight, cap off, and just to have the stuff smell my immediate vicinity. It’s nice.
I agree, I like the “Indian” scent too. It keeps long and since we don’t have many Indians working on gas stations in my country, it’s just great for me.
Michael,
I dont want to go offtopic here, but a few ideas here for additional putative pheromones that could be put into the new A314 alcohol spray test kits. I wonder especially if there could be something to avoid the distancing/excessively serious effects it has sometimes in social settings with younger people. Perhaps one or more of P83, P90, P91 and P93 could replace some of the Androstenone for some of these test mixes. I would guess some Androstenone (or whatever else is causing the seriousness/distance) would still be necessary so as not to lose the core ‘A314 effect’.
Tacitus: “the higher range of Putatives, P83, P91, P93 all seem to have this balance of masculinity and credibility/trust/attraction where the younger, jerkier pheromones like P75, or the “youngish authority figure” P80 can be terribly offputting to many…”
P90 barely registers even at 250 mu: subtle, a touch social dominant??
Tacitus: “Did I underestimate P90 ?.. maybe so…
although it may require a stronger application, 100 mu + to kick in… at the gym I observed women were unusually animated, very chatty, almost noisy… same thing occured on the subway… even a reserved brit couple seated next to me became voluble… and I was afforded an unexpected degree of respect throughout the day… although not of the Clint Eastwood P80 variety, nor of the somewhat more erotic P83 variety*… the upper range putatives so far, P90, P91, P93 appear to have a generally civilized, well sociallized quality…* P90 quietly exudes what I might term “empathetic leadership” versus “authoritarian leadership”… in the direction of the wise, respected grandfather figure… I did notice that in important discussion during the working day, I could manage the very tricky balancing act of being direct and forceful while maintaining rapport... I have never been good at that likable intensity trick… P90 seems to give one a boost there…”
Michael, I’m using the A314 mutant whitecap version, so I don’t think I’m competent to advise any change in the expression of the core. I’d trust your intuition on this, as you do respect the core.
I have a question, though. Let’s say I take a few drops of A314 in oil, and mix them with some perfumer’s or forumulator’s alcohol, and then apply a home-brew spray.
Any comment on what that might do in terms of the effect of the A314 brew?
How do we know which batch we have? I just today received my first bottle and it has no version number on the label. It has a very nice, but quite subtle scent, not oudhlike at all (not even like not-very-good oudh). Nothing like India, and not a strong scent, as this recently-sold-out batch is being described. So I’m confused!
I’m not sure if you got this one, Carrie. It almost doesn’t sound like it. However, if you did, you know what perfumer it’s from. It reminded me more of amyris, frankly, and I called them on it. They were aggressively offended.
I disliked what she calls “Indosnesian Oudh” so much that I added a smidge of deer musk and a few other oils to it for the latter half of the batch. It made it smell more animalic. It now smells quite different to me for the first few minutes, but I can still smell what they call the “Indosnesian oudh” does poke through every now and then. Maybe with your experience you could better identify what the heck it is she sold us.
If you feel don’t feel that it’s oudh-like either, then maybe my amyris guess was on the money?
PS - did you get the sample of “Royal Oil”, as well?
What I have makes me think of clary absolute, sandalwood, a hint of florals (maybe rose), and something musky (I’ve never smelled true deer musk). It’s velvety smooth, very mild but persistent, and smells natural. I just compared it to Eden’s amyris and I don’t smell that at all in the A314.
I’m wondering if I somehow got the regular, classic scent (could you describe that one?) instead of the one with oudh? Because I smell neither amyris nor oudh, and can’t imagine anyone calling this scent strong. It’s not as strong as the scent a shower gel or shampoo leaves on the skin.
I had requested a sample of Royal Oil but it wasn’t included with my order.
