I never knew there was possibly such a thing, until I have experienced it. No matter what I drink: vodka, whiskey, beer, long island iced tea, etc. I always seem to get a poison ivy type rash all over my body. Maybe my body is thinking this is a foreign substance and is rejecting the alcohol, who knows..Any ideas? I should probably quit drinking lol *sad face
Oh yes, its real & very common in some ethnic groups, in particular Vietnamese & other asians.
It’s not an allergy per se, it’s a lack of or deficiency of the enzyme the body uses to break down alcohol with

Well at least I won’t be an alcoholic right? lol…Plus I’ll save money from not buying alcohol. Just trying to see the positives of this situation. Oh well, I guess this is the end of my drinking, during my college years.

Almost all my asian friends get the “asian glow.” To counter that, some of my friends take pepcid AC. I also hear Vitamin B time release helps.
Denec for me stopping alcohol is ok..I am at a very young age, so I really dont mind.

What does it take for you to get drunk btw? As in, when you start getting buzzed at least.

I went out a few weeks ago, had about ten pints, three gallons of scotch and a kebab.
When I woke up, a gorilla had stolen all my cash, rubbed the kebab in my hair, hit me over the head causing a massive headache and, to make matters worse, I swear blind it had crapped in my mouth!

not true. The friend I mentioned goes through the same symptoms that rev is describing but pounds the alky like nothing. I don’t turn red what so ever no matter how much I drink, but I’d say my tolerance is pretty low. 6-8 shots and I’m pretty buzzed.
